Back to Yugi at school, he is introducing his friend how to play a popular game, Duel Monster. He explains that there are more than 1000 types of cards and some of them are very valuable. In USA, some people accept to sell his house for a card. Playing this game, each player summons a monster on the field. Field power zone is a factor to increase power of a monster that matches to its type. Jyoonouchi seems not to be interested in this game. Then Honda tells him that he hates this game because it is a strategic game that needs a lot of analyze. Of course, such a lazy person like Jyoonouchi doesn't like it. However, Jyoonouchi tries to refuse that it isn't true. Anzu asks Honda why he puts on a strap on his uniform like a student inspector. Honda tells him that he , a memer of student committee, has to take care of the present situation that some one may use dirty ways to steal popular cards at school. Jyoonouchi hasn't expected that Honda's duty as a health care president even covers student monitoring. While Honda is boasting about his duty, the teacher tells him to stop because he is going to introduce a transferred student. A new student comes in and introduces himself Kaiba Seto. Anzu's realized that Kaiba is the big company of entertainment market while Jyoonouchi thinks that he is merely a master from a millionaire family. The teacher tells Kaiba that his seat is beside Mutou at back. Kaiba walks toward Yugi and sees a fallen Duel Monster card. He picks it up, sends it to Yugi and asks him if he also loves game. Both Kaiba and Yugi get familiar very fast because of the same hobby of playing games. After school, Kaiba invites Yugi to his house. Yugi also invites everybody to go together. Then everybody is shocked. Kaiba's house is such a big mansion with many maids. Kaiba leads everybody to his collection room. Everybody is shocked again when he and she sees a lot of trophys and card collections. Kaiba won many tournaments as Duel Monster champion. Anyway, Miho tells Kaiba that she perfers going to the amusement to playing card. So Kaiba tells her that he can take her pass the entrance for free. That makes Honda feel very furious. Then Kaiba asks Yugi to show his rare card. Anzu also tells Yugi that he once said that his granfather had one. So Yugi takes Kaiba his game store and asks his grandpa show him a rare card. So grandpa shows them his rarest card, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, a card that is so overpowered that its production was stopped. Everbody but Kaiba seems not to see its value. Kaiba offers Grandpa a whole briefcase full of cards for the Blue-Eyes, but Grandpa declines from the offer. Everybody is shocked again to the offer and grandpa's response not to sell it. Grandpa tells Kaiba that he has a good reason to keep the card, not because it's a strong card, but because a dear friend (Professor Hopskin) in America gave it to him. He wish Kaiba would feel to the value of his cards in the briefcase as well. Then Kaiba says sorry and leaves, thinking that it was a bunch of nonsense while the others think that grandpa gave him a good speech.
In
the classroom, Kaiba and Yugi are ready for a duel. Kaiba accepts Yugi's
courage that he dare challenge him despite his perception that Kaiba
is a game professional. Yugi warns him before the game that the rules
would be a bit different. Anyway, Kaiba thinks the rules won't matter
because he has powerful cards in his possession, so he won't lose.
The game starts and Kaiba goes first, pulling out Gargoyle (5/1000/500)
from his deck and playing it in attack mode. Surprisingly, the card
comes to life. Then, Yugi plays the Blackland Fire Dragon (6/1500/800)
and defeats Kaiba's monster. So, Kaiba's LP is down to 1500. Kaiba
expresses his pleasure with the reality of battle. This is what he
has expected before. Kaiba draws his next card, which was the Minotaur
(6/1700/1000), with enough attack points to defeat Yugi's Blackland
Fire Dragon (1500/800). Minotaur defeats the dragon and Yugi's LP is
down to 1800. The next thing Yugi draws is the Holy Elf (800/2000)
and he plays her in defense mode. Her attack is much lower than the
Minotaur , but her defense was higher by a safe margin. Kaiba, knowing
that if he attacks, he'll only hurt himself, so he goes into defense
mode too. He draws his next card, a magic card. He plays it face down,
saving it for the next turn. Yugi draws from his deck again, but he
draws a White (2/300/200) , a pretty much useless card. Thus, I can
do nothing in this turn. After that, Kaiba activates a magic card on
his Minotaur, and the card is Giant's Might which increases the Minotaur's
power. Minotaur now has enough attack powerto defeat Holy elf. So turn
after turn, the Minotaur destroys every card. Then, Yugi draws the
strongest card in his deck, the Summoned Skull (7/2500/1200). Summoned
Skull destroys Minotaur that causes Kaiba's life points down to 800.
Getting desperate, Kaiba pulls out the Blue Eyes White Dragon (8/3000/2500)
out of his pocket and plays it. Denying that it was Yugi's Grandpa's
card, he tells Yugi that this is his own card that he got from somebody
else and orders the dragon to finish Yugi. However the Blue Eyes White
Dragon doesn't move. Yugi tells Kaiba that he still doesn't understand
the true meaning of the game. The card wouldn't attack because Kaiba's
soul wasn't in that card. Yugi can see the image of grandpa inside
Blue Next day, everything seems to be back in normal. Yugi thanks Jyoonouchi because he thinks that Jyoonouchi took Blue Eyes White Dragon back for him. Suddenly, Honda and Miho is riding a bicycle to school together and then crashes the pole. To be Continued...
