[ Epsiode 178 ] The tragedy of Atlantis

The flashback leads Kaiba and Yugi back to Atlantis where was such a beacutiful city. This kingdom had been peaceful for a long time. During this period, Dartz was the king of Atlantis while Iron Heart was his father and grandfather of Christ. One day, a meteor shower hit the kingdom. Pieces of those rocks were parts of Orichalcos power. Then all people turned into monsters. Even Dartz's Queen (Phiore) received this effect. Transforming into a monster, she tried to run away from Dartz. Dartz ran after her but he was too late. The queen had already transformed into a monster an killed a human. As a result, Dartz had no choice but killed her. However, the situation hadn't finished yet. Dartz heard a lot of screen from his kingdom. The city was full of blood. Looking sad, Dartz didn't understand what was going on. Suddenly, bloody water in the spring field was glowing by brightly green light. Dartz waded into the water and picked up a piece of Orichalcos stone. It changed an Dartz's eye into green color and leaded him to see an image of the earth. Dartz saw a shadow of a dragon surrounding the earth because of People's dark minds.

Iron Heart asked Dartz what he was doing. Dartz told his father not to intervene. Orichalcos already let him see an image of the god. He intended to summon Orichalcos god (Orichalcos No Kami) by sacrificing people. Also, he was going to create new group of human by Orichalcos power. Then Dartz activated power of Orichalcos stones. The stones transformed into Orichalcos rings and released many Orichalcos Soldiers. In order to summon Orichalcos god, Dartz needed people's souls even his father's soul. So Iron Heart, Christ and her wolf ran away from the castle. Dartz gathered his Orichalcos Soldiers and let them prepare for the battle. On the other side, Iron Heart and the others went into a cave. There were many stone tablets inside. In order to fight against Orichalcos Soldiers, they had to count on the guardians of the earth, the legendary dragons. So Timaeus, Critias and Helmos was finally resummoned. The other Duel Monsters were also summoned to protect the world. Finally, the battle between Orichalcos Army and Duel Monsters occurred. This was the judgement of the earth. Yugi has just realized that it was the battle at the wilderness of the stones (Ishi No Kouya - look back in episode 163).

Dartz has been waiting for a long time to summon Orichalcos god. Anyway, Kaiba tells him that Master of Dragon Knight has already defeated him. Dartz chuckles and lets Kaiba and Yugi back to the present battle field. Mokuba, Anzu and Honda are glad to see that both of them are safe. Kaiba is amazed when he sees that Dartz's LP has remained 3500. It isn't increased after Dartz paid his 500 LP to summon Orichalcos Kyutora. Dartz explains that Orichalcos Kyutora has an special effect to absorb all damges into it. Continously, Dartz summons Orichalcos Gil Gars with 1400 attack power (900+500 from Orichalcos power). Also, when it is destroyed , Dartz can choose to resummoned specially onto the field with an increase of 500 attack power. Yugi tells Kaiba to be aware of it. He had an experience with it before (episode 164). When Dartz plays special effect of Orichalcos Gil Gars, he has to skip his draw phrase. Insisting that Yugi and Kaiba can't defeat him, Dartz activates a magic card, Orichalos Deuterosu (The second Seal of Orichalcos).

On the other side, Raphael has just reached the island. He rides his motorcycle and goes up to the tower where everbody is.

Back to the duel, the second Orichalcos ring is surronding the Seal of Orichalcos. Dartz explains that he can gain 500 LP by his each monster on the field at the end of main phrase 1. So his LP is up to 4500 (3500+500*2). Then Dartz lets Orichalcos Gil Gars attack Master of Dragon Knight. Honda wonders why Dartz lets his monster with less attack power strike Master of Dragon Knight with much higher attack power. Yugi also lets Master of Dragon Knight counterattack at the same time. Though Orichalcos Gil Gars is destroyed, Orichalcos Kyutora absorbs all damage into itself. As a result, Dartz gains no damage and he resummons Orichalcos Gil Gars 1900 (1400+500) with 500 attack powered up by its special effect. Honda has just understood Dartz's plan to increase an attack power of Orichalcos Gil Gars.

Turn is back to Kaiba. He considers how to continue his turn. Damage can't be dealed to Dartz because of Orichalcos Kyutora while Orichalcos Gil Gars is resummoned with higher attack power every time it is destroyed. Then he faces down a card and summons Blade Knight (4/1600) in an attack mode. When this card is summoned as the last card on hand, its attack power can be 400 creased. So Blade Knight is powered up to 2000 (1600+400). After that Kaiba ends his turn.

Energy Reflector Magic Card

Turn comes to Yugi. After Yugi draws a card, Kaiba immediately activates his faced down magic card, Energy Reflector. Kaiba has to sacrifice Blade Knight to activate this card. The reflector is shot and stuck on the wall behind Dartz. Kaiba tells Yugi to attack by Master of Dragon Knight. The reflector can deal damage directly to the player while Orichalcos Kyutora can't absorb this damage to protect Dartz. Hearing that, Yugi lets Master of Dragon Knight attack. However, Dartz still has no damage while Orichalcos Gil Gars is destroyed. The second Orichalcos, Orichalos Deuterosu, is protecting them. Dartz activates special effect of Orichalos Deuterosu that is sacrificing a monster to negate direct attack and to destroy the attacking monster. Consequently, sacrificing Orichalcos Gil Gars, Dartz lets the attack back to Master of Dragon Knight. Suddenly, Yugi activates a magic card, depolymerization (Yuukou Kaiyoo), to turn back Master of Dragon Knight into original Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Chaos Soldier. Yugi is very worried. While Orichalos Deuterosu is on the field, he can't even make direct attack to the player.

Descent of Mirror Knight 6/0/0

Turn is back to Dartz. Since Orichalcos Gil Gars wasn't destroyed through the battke, it can't be resummoned. Then Dartz plays Orichalos Mirror. Sacrificing a monster, Time Eater, from his hand or field equal to 4 levels, he can summon specially Descent of Mirror Knight 6/0/0 (Mirror Knights Kourin) with 500 (0+500). When Mirror Knights Kourin is played, it can creates specially four Mirror Knights with 500 attack power each (0+500) by Orichalcos power. At this point, because of Orichalos Deuterosu's special effect, Dartz's LP is increased up to 7500 (4500+6*500). The effect of Mirror Knight is that the Mirror Knights can absorb the attack power of the monster which they are going to attack. So a Mirror Knight absorbs attack power of Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4000) while another Mirror Knight absorbs attack power of Chaos Soldier (3000). As a result, the Mirror Knight with 4000 attack power destroys Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and the Mirror Knight with 3000 attack power destroys Chaos Soldier, while the rest Mirror Knights with 500 attack points attack directly to Yugi and Kaiba. Lastly, Kaiba and Yugi's LP are down to 3500 (4000-500). Honda wonders why the Mirror Knights with the same attack power remain while Master of Dragon Knight and Chaos Soldier were destroyed. Dartz explains that this is because of the effect ot Mirror Knight Kourin. As long as Descent of Mirror Knight is on the field, there is no damage dealing to Mirror Knights. It can regenerate a shield to each Mirror Knight.

Kaiser Glider monster card

Turn comes to Kaiba. He plays a magic card, Treasure of Life (Inochi Ketsuri No Housatsu), which allows him to draw 5 cards. Of drawn cards, Kaiba plays a magic card, Silent Death (Moku Suru Shisha), which allows Kaiba to resummon Blade Knight from his cemetry in an defense mode. Sacrifice it, Kaiba summons Kaiser Glider (6/2400/2200). Facing down a card, Kaiba then ends his turn. Come to Yugi's move. Drawing Mirror Force, Yugi faces down it and summons Big Shield Guardner (2600) in a defense mode. Turn is back to Dartz. His LP is powered up to 10500 (7500+6*5) by effect of Orichalos Deuterosu. Yugi is planning to destroy all of Dartz' monsters by Mirror Force. Suddenly, Kaiba activates a trap card, Ring of Destruction. He uses it destroy Descent of Mirror Knight. As a result, both Kaiba's and Dartz's LP are down by 500 (Dartz=10000 and Kaiba=3000).

When Descent of Mirror Knight is gone, the Mirror Knights'shields can't be regenerated. Also, the helmets of the knights are broken because of the attack of Ring of Destruction. Then the real faces of the knights are revealed. They are the faces of little Yugi, Jyoonouchi, Mai and Pegasus. Everbody is shocked especially Yugi. He notices that their souls sealed on the wall are gone. If he had activated Mirror Force, he would have already destroyed his friends.
