ยูกิ อันซุและฮอนดะยังคงตามหาโจวโนะอุจิอยู่ในเมืองบริเวณที่พวกตนเห็นการ์ดขอบข่ายเวทย์มนตร์ Orichalcos ถูกเรียกออกมาขณะที่พวกโมคุบะกับไคบะก็กำลังเผชิญหน้ากับกองทัพ Orichalcos Soldier ของ Dartz ออกมาขวางทางไว้ ไคบะเรียก Blue Eyes White Dragon ออกมาทำลายกองทัพ Orichalcos Soldier แต่ทว่า Orichalcos Soldier ก็สามารถฟื้นคืนกลับมาได้อีก แต่สำหรับไคบะแล้วปลาเล็กก็ยังคงเป็นปลาเล็กอยู่ดี จึงให้ Blue Eyes White Dragon โจมตีต่อโดยไม่ทันระวังว่าโมคุบะถูก Orichalcos Soldier จับไว้ ไคบะจึงต้องเรียก Helmos ออกมาช่วยเสริมอีกแรง

กลับมาที่การ Duel ระหว่างไมและโจวโนะอุจิภายใต้วงแหวน Orichalcos ทั้ง 2 เหลือ LP 3600 เท่ากัน โจวโนะอุจิมีแพะรับบาปเหลืออยู่อีก 3 ตัวในขณะที่ไมมี Harpy Lady อยู่ 6 ตัวบนสนาม ตาของโจวโนะอุจิซึ่งอยู่ในสภาพที่บาดเจ็บและเหนื่อยอ่อนจากการต่อสู้กับ Varon มา โจวโนะอุจิเรียกอัศวิน Landostar (500/1200) ออกมาป้องกัน เซ็ทการ์ดไว้ 2 ใบและจบ Turn และตนก็รู้สึกตาลายมากขึ้น การโจมตีและการต่อสู้อย่างหนักหน่วงกับวารอนได้ก่อปัญหาให้กับร่างกายของโจวโนะอุจิเกินคาด ไมถามโจวโนะอุจิว่าทำไมโจวโนะอุจิต้องฝืนเพื่อไม่ยอมแพ้ขนาดนั้นด้วย ไม่กลัวแพ้บ้างหรือไง โจวโนะอุจิบอกว่าไมเองก็เคยเป็นคนโดดเดี่ยว เชื่อแต่ในตัวเองมาก่อน แต่ตอนที่ต่อสู้กับยูิกิที่อณาจักรนักสู้ไมได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงสิ่งสำคัญที่มากกว่าชัยชนะหรือการพ่ายแพ้ให้เห็น ตนเห็นไมเป็นเพื่อนคนหนึ่งมาตลอด แต่ถึงอย่างนั้นไมก็พยายามปฏิเสธและคิดว่าทุกอย่างมันสายเกินไปแล้ว ที่ตนคิดตอนนี้มีแต่จะเอาชนะโจวโนะอุจิ แต่โจวโนะอุจิก็ยังคงบอกไมว่าตนยังคงเชื่อในไมเสมอไม่ว่าจะเกิดอะไรขึ้นและท้าทายให้ไมดำเนินเกมต่อ

ตาของไม ไมได้ให้ Harpy Lady (1800+500=2300) โจมตีใส่อัศวิน Landostar ซึ่งโจวโนะอุจิก็ใช้การ์ดกับดัก Double Magic Arm Bind เปลี่ยนแพะรับบาป 2 ตัวไปดึง Harpy Lady 2 ตัวของไมมาเป็น Monster บนฝั่งตน แต่ไมก็ยังคงใ้ห้ Harpy Lady ตัวอื่นโจมตีใส่ต่อ แต่โจวโนะอุจิก็เล่นการ์ดกับดักอีกใบคือ คำสาบานของครอบครัว (Ichizoku No Chikai) ซึ่งทำให้ Harpy Lady ไม่สามารถโจมตีใส่พี่น้องตัวเองหรือเผ่าพันธุ์ Monster เดียวกันบนสนามได้ ไมมีแต่ Harpy Lady อยู่บนสนามดังนั้น Turn นี้ไมจึงไม่สามารถโจมตีใส่ได้อีกแล้ว ไมยอมรับว่าโจวโนะอุจิแข็งแกร่งขึ้นมากจริงๆ และก็ไม่เคยท้อถอยแต่พยายามจนถึงที่สุด มันเป็นสิ่งที่ไมไม่มี และไมก็นึกไปถึงสิ่งที่วารอนเคยพูดตอน Duel กับโจวโนะอุจิว่าโจวโนะอุจินั้นมีสิ่งที่ทั้งตนและวารอนไม่มี นั่นก็คือตนไม่มีความพยายามเช่นอย่างโจวโนะอุจิ แต่ไมก็เชื่อว่าคำตอบจะออกมาว่าคนแข็งแกร่งขึ้นเมื่อเอาชนะโจวโนะอุจิได้ ว่าแล้วไมก็จบ Turn ของตน

ตาของโจวโนะอุจิ โจวโนะอุจิบูชายัญ Monster 3 ตัวคือ Harpy Lady 2 ตัวและอัศวิน Landostar เพื่อเรียกอัศวินสายฟ้า Gilford (8/2800/2400) ออก ด้วยพลังพิเศษของอัศวินสายฟ้า Gilford ทำให้สามารถทำลาย Monster บนสนามของคู่ต่อสู้ได้หมด ดังนั้น Harpy Lady ของไมจึงถูกทำลายลงหมดทำให้ LP ของไมเหลือเพียง 500 โจวโนะอุจิตะโกนบอกให้ไมลุกขึ้น การ Duel ยังไม่จบแค่นี้ ไมยอมรับความเข้มแข็งของโจวโนะอุจิแต่สุดท้ายแล้วตนจะต้องเป็นผู้ชนะอย่างแน่นอน

ตอนนี้ไมมี LP เหลือ 800 ขณะที่โจวโนะอุจิมี 300 โจวโนะอุจิมีอัศวินสายฟ้า Gilford และแพะรับบาปเหลือยู่บนสนาม ตาของไม ไมจั่วและใช้การ์ดเวทย์มนต์ สมบัติจากสวรรค์(Ten Yori No Housatsu) ซึ่งทำให้ทั้ง 2 ฝ่ายจั่วการ์ดเพิ่มได้ฝ่ายละ 6 ใบ โจวโนะอุจิจั่วได้การ์ดดีจึงคิดว่าถึงไม่ต้องใช้การ์ด Helmos ก็ไม่เป็นไร ไมไม่รู้ว่าโจวโนะอุจิได้การ์ด Helmos ไว้ในมือหรือยังแต่ก็วางแผนคิดจะเผด็จศึกก่อนที่โจวโนะอุจิจะใช้มัน ไมใช้การ์ดเวทย์มนต์ชุบชีวิต Harpy Lady มาจากสุสานและก็ใช้การ์ดกระจกหมื่นทิวาเพิ่มจำนวน Harpy Lady เป็น 3 ตัว และเล่นผสมผสาน Harpy Lady กับการ์ด

Harpy Lady Phoenix Formation ( Harpy Lady Houou No Jin) magic card

Phoenix Formation ( Harpy Lady Houou No Jin) ซึ่งสามารถเปลี่ยนกองทัพ Harpy Lady เป็นการโจมตีในรูปแบบนกซูซากุได้ โจวโนะอุจิจำได้ว่าเคยเจอกับรูปแบบการโจมตีของไมแบบนี้มาแล้วในการต่อสู้กับไมครั้งก่อน และแล้ว Harpy Lady ในรูปแบบนกซูซากุของไมก็โจมตีใส่ Monster ทั้งหมดของโจวโนะอุจิและโจมตีใส่โจวโนะอุจิโดยตรงทำให้ LP ของโจวโนะอุจิลดลงเหลือ 800 ถึงกระนั้นโจวโนะอุจิก็ยังคงแสดงให้ไมเห็นว่าตนยังคงสนุกอยู่กับการ Duel

ตาขอไม ไมเล่นปีขนนก Harpy กวาดการ์ดที่หมอบไว้ของโจวโนะอุจิรวมทั้งดาบ Red Eyes Black Dragon ที่เป็นผลจากการ์ดเวทย์มนต์หายไปหมด พลังของ Souen Warrior กลับมาอยู่ที่ 1800 เช่นเดิม ไมเล่นการ์ดเวทย์มนต์ที่ทำให้ตนสามารถเรียกใช้การ์ดเวทย์มนต์ในสุสานตนกลับมาได้อีกครั้ง โจวโนะอุจิก็พอจะเดาได้ว่าไมต้องเลือกการ์ด Phoenix Formation กลับมาอีกแน่นอน ไมให้ Harpy Lady โจมตี Souen Warrior ในรูปแบบนกซูซากุอีกครั้ง แต่ทว่ากลับไม่มีผลต่างความเสียหายต่อ Souen Warrior ของโจวโนะอุจิที่ได้โอนถ่ายพลังโจมตีไปให้ Harpy Lady (2300+1800=4100) เมื่อพลังเป็น 0 ก็ไม่มีความเสียหายเกิดขึ้น และเมื่อ Souen Warrior ถูกทำลายจะสามารถเรียกอัศวินอื่นกลับขึ้นมาบนสนามได้ 1 ตัวซึ่งโจวโนะอุจิก็เรียกอัศวินดาบเพลิง (1800) ออกมา โจวโนะอุจิพยายามจะบอกไมว่าตนได้สิ่งที่สำคัญมาจากไมนั่นก็คือความเชื่อมั่น ซึ่งไมเองก็แกร่งพอที่จะไม่ต้องพึ่งพลังของ Doom โจวโนะอุจิเข้าใจความใจดีที่อยู่ในตัวไมเป็นอย่างดีเพราะไมก็เคยช่วยเหลือตนมาก่อนที่อณาจักรนักสู้ แต่ไม่ว่าโจวโนะอุจิจะพูดหรือคิดอย่างไร ไมก็ไม่คิดที่จะหันกลับไปอีกแล้วพร้อมกับประกาศจบ Turn

ตาโจวโนะอุจิก็เซ็ทการ์ดไว้และจบ Turn ตาของไมอีกครั้ง ไมให้ Harpy Lady โจมตีใส่ขณะที่โจวโนะอุจิใช้การ์ดกับดักลูกเต๋าปีศาจซึ่งทอยได้หน้า 2 นั่นไม่ได้ช่วยให้พลังของ Harpy Lady ลดลงมาก Harpy Lady โจมตีใส่อัศวินดาบเพลิงของโจวโนะอุจิทำให้ LP ลดลงเหลือ 500 ถ้าไมให้ Harpy Lady อีกตัวโจมตีต่อโจวโนะอุจิก็จะแพ้อย่างแน่นอน แต่ทว่าไมกลับชะงักไม่โจมตีพลางนึกถึงเหตุการณ์ในอดีตต่าง ๆ ที่เคยเกิดขึ้นกับตนและโจวโนะอุจิ ด้วยความรู้สึกอันนี้ทำให้ไมไม่ยอมโจมตีใส่โจวโนะอุจิเป็นครั้งสุดท้าย ถึงกระนั้นโจวโนะอุจิก็ทน Duel ต่อไปไม่ไหวแล้ว โจวโนะอุจิบอกว่าไมชนะแล้วพร้อมกับล้มลง ไมรีบเข้าไปรับไว้และนึกไม่ถึงว่าโจวโนะอุจิจะทน Duel มาได้ตลอดด้วยสภาพที่สะบักสะบอบเ่ช่นนี้หลังจากการต่อสู้กับวารอน โจวโนะอุจิดีใจที่ดวงวิญญาณของไมไม่ได้ถูกชิงไปและหวังว่าไมคงจะสนุกกับการ Duel ว่าแล้่วตนก็ผลักไมออกไปจากวงแหวน Orichalcos ที่กำลังจะชิงดวงวิญญาณตนไปตามกฎ ไมทำอะไรไม่ได้ได้แต่ยืนมองและกรีดร้องเท่านั้น เมื่อดวงวิญญาณของโจวโนะอุจิถูกชิงไป ทั้ง Critias และ Timaeus ก็ต่างคำรามขึ้นฟ้าเหมือนเป็นสัญลักษณ์อะไรซักอย่างบอกให้ยูกิกับไคบะรู้ ไมเองก็เพิ่งรู้สึกตัวและเข้าใจทุกอย่างหลังการ Duel ตนร้องได้ให้โจวโนะอุจิพร้อมกับบอกว่าตนเข้าใจทุกอย่างดีแล้วว่าถึงชนะไปก็ไม่ได้อะไรขึ้นมาเลย ดังนั้นไมจึงคิดที่จะช่วยทั้งโจวโนะอุจิและวารอน ไมหยิบการ์ด Helomos ของโจวโนะอุจิและมุ่งหน้าไปหา Dartz เพื่อที่จะช่วยทั้ง 2 คนให้ได้ แต่ทว่าที่นั่นก็มีอีกคนที่กำลังรอไมอยู่แล้ว

อีกด้านยูกิ อันซุและฮอนดะก็เพิ่งเดินทางมาพบโจวโนะอุจื ทุกคนแถบไม่อยากจะเชื่อว่าโจวโนะอุจิจะแพ้่และสูญเสียดวงวิญญาณไป...

A bitter victory

Yugi, Anzu and Honda are still looking for Jyoonouchi around where they saw that the Seal of Orichalcos was activated, while Kaiba and Mokuba are facing the Orichalcos Soldiers coming out to obstruct their way to see Dartz. Kaiba summons Blue Eyes White Dragon to attack the Orichalcos Soldiers. Though the Orichalcos soldiers are destoyed, they can resurrect themselves. Kaiba thinks that the small fishes still mean nothing, so he lets Blue Eyes White Dragon continue attacking. Then he hasn't awared that Mokuba is captured by a Orichalcos Soldier. Thereby Kaiba summons another monster, Helmos, to save Mokuba and to support Blue Eyes White Dragon on attacking the Orichalcos Soldiers.

Turn back to duel between Mai and Jyoonouchi, it has been running on the Seal of Orichalcos. Jyoonouchi remains 3600 LP as equal as Mai does. There are three scape goats left on his field while there are six Harpy Ladies on Mai's field. Next turn comes to Jyoonouchi who has been injured since the duel against Varon. He sets Landostar Swordsman in defense mode (500/1200), sets up 2 cards and ends his turn. Then Jyoonouchi feels dizzy and starts seeing blur picture. His damage from Varon's attack has caused the trouble. Mai asks Jyoonouchi why he has to force himself not to give up too much and if he isn't afraid to lose. Jyoonouchi says that Mai had only believed in herself and had fought alone in the past. However, after Duelist Kigdom and the duel against Yugi, she showed something that was more important than victory or defeat. Jyoonouchi always thinks that Mai is his good friend. Anyway, Mai tries to refuse and says that whatever he said is too late. Now she thinks only to beat Jyoonouchi. Then Jyoonouchi challenges Mai to continue her move. He still believes in her whatever happens. Next turn comes to Mai. She lets Harpy Lady (1800+500=2300) attack Landostar Swordsman. At this moment, Jyoonouchi activates a trap card, Double Magic Arm Bind, which changes two scape goats into the magic arms to pull two Harpy Ladies of Mai to be the monsters on his own field. Anyway, Mai still lets the rest Harpy Ladies continue attacking. At the same time, Jyoonouchi activates another trap card, a vow of the family (Ichizoku No Chikai), which doesn't allow the monsters to attack the same type of monsters. There are two Harpy Ladies on Jyoonouchi's field, so Mai's Harpy Ladies can't attack their relatives. Mai has only Harpy Ladies on her field, as a result, she can't continue attaking in this turn. Mai accepts that Jyoonouchi has been much stronger. He has never given up his attempt. That is the thing that she hasn't. Then she reminds herself what Varon ever said during his duel against Jyoonouchi. He said that Jyoonouchi had something that both she and Varon hadn't. Mai is thinking if she really hasn't the attempt as Jyoonouchi has. Anyway, she believes that the answer will be shown that she is stronger when she can beat him. Then she ends his turn.

Jyoonouchi continues his turn. He sacrifices three monsters, two Harpy Ladies and a Landostar Swordsman, to summon Gilford the Lightning (8/2800/2400). By special ability of Gilford, it can destroy all monsters on the opponent's field. So Gilford the Lightning destroys all Mai's Harpy Ladies and strongly attack Mai. Mai's LP is down to 800. After Mai falls down, Jyoonouchi calls her to stand up because the duel hasn't been ended here yet. Mai accepts Jyoonouchi's strenght but she still thinks that she will finally be the winner.

Harpy Lady Phoenix Formation ( Harpy Lady Houou No Jin) magic card

At this point, Mai's LP is 800 while Jyoonouchi's LP is 3600. Jyoonouchi has Gilford the Lightning with a scape goat on the field while Mai has nothing. Next, Mai draws a card and activates it, a magic card, treasures from the heaven (Ten Yori No Housatsu), which allows both players to draw additional six cards. Jyoonouchi draws his cards and sees that he gets good cards though there is no Helmos. Mai has no idea if Jyoonouchi has already got Helmos or not. Anyway, she plans to play her strategy before he will activate it. Then Mai activates a magic card, Raise Dead, to resurrect a Harpy Lady from her graveyard. Continuously, she plays a magic card, Ten-Thousand Reflections (Mangekyoo Karei Naru Bunshin), turning the Harpy into three, and plays another magic card, Phoenix Formation ( Harpy Lady Houou No Jin), which tranforms the Harpy Ladies into Phoenix formation. Jyoonouchi remembers that he has ever faced this card from his previous duel against Mai. Harpy Ladies in form of Phoenix destroy all monsters and directly attack Jyoonouchi. His LP is down to 800. Anyway, Jyoonouchi still shows his feeling that he much enjoys the duel.

An advent of Black Dragon (Koku Ryuu Kourin) Magic card

Jyoonouchi's turn, though his hand is much hurt, he tries his best to draw a card to continue the duel for Mai. He gets Helmos. Finally, he has to borrow its power. Jyoonouchi activates a magic card, Return Life of a Warrior (Senshi No Seikan), which can resurrect a warrior from graveyard. As a result, Jyoonouchi resurrects Souen Warrior (1800) on the field. Next, he plays another magic card, An advent of Black Dragon (Koku Ryuu Kourin), which is a magic ritual to allow him to sacrifice monster on the field or on hand equal to 4 levels in order to summon specially Dark Knight of Black Dragon. So Jyoonouchi chooses to sacrifice an Iron Warrior Gearfried to summon it. By later sacrificing Dark Knight of Black Dragon, Jyoonouchi can specially summon Red Eyes Black Dragon from his deck. Mai reminds him that he can't let monster coming from the magic ritual attack in this turn. Jyoonouchi has already realized that, so he activates Helmos , combines it with Red Eyes Black Dragon and finally transforms it into Red Eyes Black Dragon Sword. He equips this sword with Souen Warrior (1800+1000=2800). Souen Warrior attacks a Harpy Lady (2300) by Red Eyes Black Dragon Sword. Mai's LP is down to 300. Then Jyoonouchi sets 2 cards and ends his turn. Though he seems to prevail, he almost falls down because of tiredness.

Return Life of a Warrior (Senshi No Seikan) Magic card

Mai's turn, she plays Harpy's Feather Sweep, destroying all of Jyoonouchi's placed cards as well as Red Eyes Black Dragon Sword. Souen Warrior's power is down to normal, 1800. Next she plays a magic card, allowing her take a magic back from graveyard by exchanging two magic cards on hand sent in there. Of couse, Jyoonouchi can guess that it must be a magic card, Phoenix Formation. Mai plays it with two Harpy Ladies again. Harpy Ladies in form of Phoenix directly attack Souen Warrior. However, there is no distinct damage to the player because Souen Warrior's attack power is 0. 1800 attack power of Souen Warrior is tranferred to Harpy Lady (2300+1800=4100), so it has 0 power left. Also, when Souen Warrior is destroyed, that allows Jyoonouchi to summon another warrior, Flame Swordsman (1800), on the field. Anyway, Jyoonouchi tries to remind Mai about what he got from her, an important thing of duel, confidence. She is great enough not to gain power of Doom. Jyoonuchi understands the real kindness of Mai well. Once she ever helped him at Duelist Kingdom by giving him a qualified card. However, whatever Jyoonouchi said, Mai thinks that she can't turn back anymore. Then she ends her turn.

Jyoonouchi's turn, he sets up a card and ends his turn. Next turn comes to Mai. She lets a Harpy Lady attack while Jyoonouchi is activating a trap card, Evil's Dice. The number is two, so it doesn't much help decreasing Harpy Lady's power. As a result, Flame Swordsman is destroyed and Jyoonouchi's LP is down to 500. If Mai continues letting another Harpy Lady attack him, she will win. However, Mai stops her attack. Her memory about Jyoonouchi is coming out. Anyway, Jyoonouchi says that Mai has already won. Then he is falling down. Mai hurries to hold him up. She hasn't expected before that Jyoonouchi's continued the duel despite of his serious damage from Varon. Jyoonouchi is glad that Mai's soul will be safe. He also hopes Mai enjoyed the duel. Then he pushes Mai out off the seal of Orichalcos. Mai screams at the same time that her Orichalcos'stone is broken. Finally, Jyoonouchi's soul is taken. Timaeus and Critias howl into the sky like the sign of something to Yugi and Kaiba. Mai holds Jyoonuchi up in her hand. She has just understood that finally she got nothing, though she won. So she picks up Jyoonouchi's Helmos and goes straight to see Dartz to save Varon and Jyoonouchi. She rides her motorcycle to the Doom building and moves to the upper floor. There is a guy walking out to see her.

On the other side, Yugi, Anzu and Honda has just reached the duel field. Everybody is amazed. He or she hardly believes that Jyoonouchi was defeated...
