He is a new character out off original comic. After Battle city stage, Yugi has to face a doom organization with 3 warriors. Gentle and tender appearance seems to contradict against his real personality. He is such an ambitious person who desires a greatful power.

When he was young, he did a crime that let him be in the prison. A warden gave him a chance to get out off there by duel monster game. If he could beat all prisoners by power of Orichalcos, he would be released. Of course, Varon could beat all of them and sealed their souls into Orichalcos cards. In fact, that was the battle stage planned by Doom organization of Dartz in order to find a great duelist. Dartz appeared and invited Varon to join Doom. Varon would like to be stronger and greater, so he accepted Dartz's offer and finally became a Doom warrior. However, Varon has never relized that a person who caused him to do a crime is really Dartz.

Varon is impressed by Mai because he thinks that he and Mai have something in common. That is confidence and desire of victory. No matter what, he has to win the enemy.
