He is a new character out off original comic. After Battle city stage, Yugi has to face a doom organization with 3 warriors. A solitary warrior is the leader of the Doom warriors. He joins this group to demand on the dead place.

Raphael is such a lonely duelist. Though he looks strong, his mind is very weak due to his tragic background. When he was young, he faced a disaster. The cruise he was traveling was wreaked by storm. His family were all gone while he was only one survivor. Getting up, he found himself on a solitary island. What he had with him were three guardian cards, Guardian Airtos, Guardian Backup and Guardian Guraru, which his younger sister and brother had given to him for his birtherday before the shipe was wrecked. That is why Raphael really has faith in those three guardian cards.

After that, Raphael survived and returned his social life. However, he had nobody in his family left. At that time, Dartz appeared and let Raphael know about his destiny as a Doom warrior. So Raphael joined Doom without knowledge that in fact Dartz created the disaster that destroyed the cruise he travelled many years ago. Dartz planned to create Raphael's dark mind by Orichalcos power. When Raphael loses his light mind, his dark mind, Guardian Deathscythe, is created from his cemetry.

Raphael's deck is composed of his Guardian cards which represent his family. This is why Raphael has never sent his Guardian monsters, his family, into graveyard. Though his monsters was sent into the cemetry, Raphael sacrifices his LP to regenerate it.
