"
Come on Yugi, you can finish you're puzzle later." Surogoruko
called
to his Grandson. But 7-year-old Yugi had apparently not heard his
Grandfather. He was too absorbed in trying to finish the Puzzle that
his
grandfather had given him only a day ago, on their trip to Egypt.
" Yugi, you won't solve it in a day. Let's go, it's getting dark."
Surogoruko walked up to Yugi, who was sitting on the banks of the
Nile
River. He place his hand gently on his grandson's shoulder.
"
KYAA!" yelled Yugi, startled. He dropped the box with all the
Puzzle
pieces, scattering them all over the beach.
"
Oh no, My Puzzle!" Yugi started gathering all the pieces, putting
them
into their gold box. He was missing one, he found only 49.
"
Jii-san, One's gone!" Yugi said, frantcally searching for it.
He saw a
something glint in the Nile water. Thinking it was a piece, he reached
out for it.
"
Huh?" Yugi said out loud. This certainly wasn't part of his
Puzzle. It
was part of a Pendant. It was shaped like a heart, and it had the
Sennen Symbol on the center of it. Yugi found his final piece right
beside
his foot, then went to show the object to his Grandpa.
"
Jii-san! Look what I found!" Yugi said, giving it to him.
"
Oh? Where did you find this Yugi?" Surogoruko asked.
" In the water while I was looking for my Puzzle pieces. Doesn't it
look
squashed?" Yugi said.
" It's shape like an Ancient Egyptian heart. I think it's a Sennen
Item." Surogoruko said, examining the charm.
"
Since you found it, it's yours, Yugi." Surogoruko said, giving
it back
to his grandson. Yugi looked at it, then suddenly had an idea.
"
I'll give it to Mamo-chan!" Yugi exclaimed.
"
Mamo...?" Surogoruko said. Yugi rolled his eyes.
"
My cousin. I forgot what you call Mamo-chan." He smiled.
" Oh, you mean Kisake! Well, let's look for a string or something to
put
it on. I'm sure i had a gold snake-string cord somewhere..." Surogoruko
said. Yugi nodded as they left the riverside to go back to camp.

[ Chapter 1 ]
"
Only 2 starchips until I'm in the Duelist Kingdom Finals!" Jounouchi
said, punching the air.
"
Good for you!" said Yugi.
"
Hey look, someone's Dueling." pointed Honda.
"
Let's go check it out, Yugi-kun." Ryou said, going ahead into
the
clearing.
"
Wait for us, Ryou-kun!" Anzu called, following him. he others
also
went to he Deul field, where two boys were absorbed in a Duel. One
was
very tall, and he seemed to be losing.
"
Make your last move!" the other shouted. The tall boy ignored
him and
drew a card. It was impossible to discern from his face whether he
was
dissappointed or pleased with his card.
"
I play Gora Turtle (1100) in defensive mode." he said.
"
Is that all?" the other boy said haughtily, "Then you
asked for it.
Seiyaryu, attack his Gora Turtle!" the boys dragon went to
attack but it
stopped.
"
Why isn't it attacking?!?" the boy shouted.
" Gora Turtle's effect is that my opponents monsters with attack points
of 1900 or higher can't attack." the tall boy replied. He drew
another
card.
"
I play Aqua-Marine Dragon (2750) in attack mode." It's points
were
higher than Seiyaryu's. "Aqua-Marine Dragon, attack his Seiyaryu
with your
Aqua-Marine Beam!" The other boys lifepoints were reduced
to 0
"
I can't've lost!" the boy said, sinking to his knees.
"
Hand over 4 starchips." the tall boy said simply. the boy
did. The
tall boy came down from the Duel field and started walking away.
He was
around 17, and very tall, looking almost 7 feet in height. He had
jet-black hair with his bangs falling over the sides of his face
like Yugi,
and brilliant Violet eyes. He was wearing a black sleevelss shirt,
that
revealed fine-toned athletic arms, and black pants. Slung over his
soulder was a black coat, which he put on. He turned away from the
group
and headed into the woods.
"
Hey! Hey you!" Jounouchi called to him. The boy turned around
as
Jounouchi ran up to him.
"
I challenge you to a Duel!" he said to the boy. The boy merely
looked
at him.
"
For 2 starchips." Jounouchi said. The boy continued to stare
at him.
Finally he spoke.
"
Are you sure you want to Duel me?" he said in a chilling voice.
He had
said it politely, but there was a very cold edge to it. Jounouchi
looked up at him.
"
Hai." Jounouchi replied. The boy took his place at the red
side of the
Dueling field.
"
I'll go first." Jounouchi said, drawing 5 cards. He grinned.
"
I play Alligator's Sword (2000) in attack mode" Jounouchi
said
triumphantly.
" I set one monster face-down on the field, and play the field magic
card: Water of the Nile." Instantly, the field was covered in
water. Joey
looked up at the boy, slightly disheartened.
"
Don't let some H2O get you down, Jounouchi-kun!" Anzu called.
Jounouchi nodded to her.
"
Alligator's Sword, attack his face-down card." The monster
was
destroyed as they both drew new cards.
"
I play 7-Colored Fish (1800) in attack mode." the boy said.
Jounouchi
couldn' help grinning.
" Hey, long-legs! You're monster's weaker than mine! Alligator's Sword,
attack 7-Colored Fish!" Jounouchi said. Alligator's Sword moved
to
attack the fish, but as it attacked, it dissappeared, and brought
Jounouchi's lifepoints down to 1700.
"
What the...?" Jounouchi said.
"
You forgot his field magic card." Ryou explained. "It
raised his
Fish's attack points to 2300."
" Come on, Jounouchi-kun! Remember, it's your sister your fighting
for!"
Honda said encouragingly.
"
You're right, Honda-kun. I'll play..." he drew his next card.
He
couldn't believe his eyes. It was his Red-Eyes Black Dragon!
" I play Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400) in Attack mode! Attack his
7-Colored Fish!" Jounouchi said, confident that he could win.
The other boy
drew his next card, his lifepoints down to 1900.
" I play High-Tide Gyojin (1650) in attack mode. And I'll play Suijun
(2500) in attack mode." the boy said. Both monsters' attack
points were
raised by 500. Jounouchi was taken aback by his powerful monster.
"
Now I'll use Suijun's special ability," the boy said as Suijun
attached itself to the Red-Eyes.
"
What's it doing?" asked Jounouchi. He watched the Red-Eyes's
attack
points sink all the way to 0 as Suijun was destroyed.
" Suijun can drain any monsters attack points to nothing. Then it get's
destroyed." the boy said. Jounouchi looked on, just remembering
the
boy's High-Tide Gyojin.
"
Hihg-Tide Gyojin, attack his weakened Red-Eyes." the boy said
indifferently. Jounouchi looked at his lifepoints dissolve to nothing.
He had
lost. The boy, on the other hand, didn't even seem to care that he
had
won.
"
Oh my God!" Anzu exclaimed, unable to believe it. The others
were also
wearing looks of disbelief.
"
Shizuka... I failed you..." Jounouchi said, taking out his
photo of
her. The boy looked up at the name.
"
Shizuka?" he asked in his cold voice.
"
I'm so sorry..." Jounouchi said, not hearing what the boy
had said.
"
Kawai Shizuka?" the boy repeated in his icy voice. Jounouchi
looked up
at him from across the field.
"
You know her?" Jounouchi asked. The boy didn't reply. Instead,
he
came down from the Dueling Arena and started walking away.
"
What about your starchips?" Yugi asked. Slowly, the boy tuned
around
to face Yugi. Something flickered across his face but was gone in
an
instant. Yugi, on the other hand, had a look of recgnition on his
face.
"
Mamo-chan!" he said, running up to the boy.
"
You know each other?" Ryou asked looking from his short friend
to the
towering boy in front of him.
"
Of course I know Mamo-chan!" Yugi said, dragging the boy who
was
almost twice his height to meet his friends. The boy looked slightly
worried
about something.
"
Guys, this is my cousin, Mutou Mamoru." Yugi said, introducing
Mamoru
to them.
"
Um, Konnichewa." Jounouchi said ackwardly.
"
Pleased to meet you, Mutou-san." Ryou said politely.
"
I know you!" Honda burst out. Mamoru stared at him. So did
everyone
else.
"
You beat me up one time!" Honda said angrily. Mamoru looked
down at
him.
"
I don't hurt people. Unless they challenge me." Mamoru said.
His voice
was as cold as ever, it seemed as though that was the way he talked.
"
Well, I was only a freshman!" Honda said.
"
I'm sure Mamo-chan didn't MEAN to hit you." Yugi said hurriedly.
"
I'm sorry if I did." Mamoru said unemotionally.
"
Calm down, Honda-kun!" Anzu said. She slapped his arm. That
seemed to
bring him back to his senses.
"
Gomen," he said stiffly. Anzu accepted his apology.
"
I'm Masaki Anzu." she said, turning to Mamoru.
"
Do you know my sister?" Jounouchi asked again. Mamoru nodded.
" She's my next door neighbor. You must be her brother, Jounouchi
Katsuya." Mamoru said in his cold voice. Jounouchi nodded back.
"
Thanks for sparing my starchips." Jounouchi said. All of them
except
Yugi were feeling very uncomfortable around Mamoru. Yugi didn't seem
to
even notice the tension.
"
Ho did you come here, Mamo-chan?" he asked him.
"
Probably the way you did." Mamoru replied. The rest of them
started
making camp for the night. Yugi went a little closer to his cousin,
out
of earshot of the others.
"
Did you hear about Jii-san?" Yugi asked quietly. Mamoru shook
his
head.
"
Well, Pegasus... he... he took his soul." Yugi finished quickly.
It
was painful for him to talk about his Grandfather. On Mamoru's coldly
indifferent face, a spasm of emotion flashed. But it was noticeable
for
only a second.
"
With his Eye?" Mamoru asked. Yugi nodded. Mamoru stood absolutely
still for a second.
"
Why?" he said in a chilling whisper.
" So he could get me to come here. I didn't want to, but when I
declined, he took Jii-san's soul." Yugi said, "It's all
my fault."
"
Don't blame yourself." Mamoru said sternly to Yugi. Yugi swallowed
the
lump in his throat and nodded. Just then, an earsplitting shriek
echoed
throughout the clearing.
"
What was that?" Jounouchi asked, getting up.
"
Who screamed?" Honda said.
"
Quick! They may need our help! Let's go!" Yugi said, running
to where
the sound had come from. The rest followed him.
When they reached it, they found Mai Kujaku, being pushed by a huge
man, even taller than Mamoru.
"
That's sick, pushing a girl! You'll pay!" Jounouchi said,
running to
give the man a piece of his fist.
"
Jounouchi-kun!" Ryou and Honda said, pulling him back.
"
I lost... all my starchips..." Mai said, burying her face
in her
hands. The man laughed.
"
I warned you, Nobody wins against Killer Player!" The man
said,
laughing evilly. Mamoru's eyes widened for a moment.
"
Killer Player?" he repeated silently to himself. He had to
get out of
there RIGHT then, or else he'd be caught.
"
I'm going for a walk, Yugi-kun." Mamoru whispered to him.
Yugi looked
up at his cousin, puzzled. But he dissappeared into the woods in
2
seconds.
"
Well, there's only one thing to do when you're around a bully." Yugi
said to Killer Player, plucking up his courage.
"
You have to stand up to them." he said, "I challenge
you to a Duel for
Mai-san's Starchips back..."
*********
"
Yugi-kun..." Mai said hesitantly.
"
Yes?" Yugi said smilingly to Mai.
"
Arigato. You know, for getting my Starchips back and everything." She
finished quickly.
"
No sweat, Mai-san." Yugi said reassuringly. Mai managed a
small smile.
"
I can't wait to Du-" Mai began as Mamoru entered the small
clearing.
She turned her eyes on him.
"
Hey Mamo-chan!" Yugi said, walking up to him.
"
Everyone's fallen asleep, except for me, Ryou-kun and Mai-san." he
said to Mamoru.
"
Konnichewa! I'm Kujaku Mai." Mai said, walking up to Mamoru.
Mamoru
took a step backward.
"
Pleased to meet you Kujaku-san." Mamoru said stiffly. He turned
away
from her and went to Yugi.
"
Goodnight, Yugi-kun. I'll see you tommorrow." he said in his
ice-cold
voice.
"
Tommorrow? Don't you want to stay with us?" Yugi asked, frowning
slightly.
" I'm sorry, Yugi-kun. I can't stay, but I'll be nearby. Don't worry."
he said, but there was a slightly kind note in is voice.
"
Why can't you stay here?" Yugi asked.
"
I..." Mamoru broke his violet eyes away from his cousin's. "I
want
to... take a walk." he said.
"
Wait, Mamoru-kun, you can talk with us for a while..." Mai
said.
"
Mutou-san." Mamoru said as he left.
"
Your cousin is... strange." Ryou said. Then, realising that
he might
have offended his friend, he said quickly, "Not wierd, I just
meant-"
"
It's okay, Ryou-kun. Mamo-chan does act strange sometimes." Yugi
said.
"
I didn't think he was strange." Mai said, shrugging. "Well,
goodnight,
you two." She said, standing up to go to bed.
"
Goodnight." The boys said in unison. They got into a conversation
about Sennen Items and Ancient Spirits residing within them, and
went on
talking for quiet a while.
*********
Mamoru sighed to himself. He was standing on a cliff that overlooked
the beach of the island. A cool breeze was blowing, but Mamoru wasn't
feeling comfortable. He didn't like to lie to Yugi, but he didn't
want to
trouble his younger cousin, who was had enough problems to deal with
already. How had he come to this island? Mamoru took a long, shuddering,
breath. He didn't even want to think about it. But his thoughts were
slowly drifting toward the subject.
"
Mamo-chan?" a voice cut though his musings. Mamoru saw Yugi
walking
toward him.
"
Yugi-kun, you should be in bed." Mamoru said to his youngr
cousin.
"
I just wanted to see what you were doing." Yugi said timidly.
He took
a few steps toward his cousin, stopping just beside him. He also
gazed
into the sparkling ocean view. He said nothing for a while. Then,
"
You know Mai-san thinks you're a boy." he said to Mamoru.
Mamoru gave
a start.
"
Really..." 'he' said, his voice cracking. "I'm not a boy?" Yugi
laughed.
" Mamo-chan, you can fool whoever you like, but you're not a boy, no
matter how... um... masculine you're features may be." Yugi
said
sheepishly. His cousin was the biggest tomboy he had ever laid eyes
upon. She
was 17, yet she had still retained a boy's figure, even in very tight
clothes. She dressed like a boy, wore the boy's uniform in school,
and
wore male clothing at all times. The fact that her hair was cropped
short
as a boy's also played in her masculinity. Probably the only people
who
knew she was not a boy were Yugi, his parents, his Grandpa, Shizuka,
and Shizuka's mom. Of course, Mamoru's doctors also knew. But apart
from
that, she was very much mistaken as a boy. She even had a deep voice
to
match.
"
Are you calling me a girl?" Mamoru said, her voice icily cold.
"
No." Yugi said quickly. Yugi knew Mamoru was very touchy about
the
subject of her true gender. A few more minutes passed in silence.
Then
Yugi spoke again.
"
You know my Puzzle? Sennen Puzzle?" Yugi asked Mamoru. Mamoru
nodded
slowly.
" My friend, Ryou, he also has a Sennen Item. Just like this Puzzle
and
your Pendant." Yugi said. He looked at her neck-line. You
could see a
very thin chain and a snake-string cord hanging from it. The
snake-string bore Mamoru's Sennen Pendant. Yugi had given it to her
years ago. He
didn't know what hung from the chain, because Mamoru kept it, and
her
Pendant, underneath her shirt.
"
Anyways, a couple of nights ago," Yugi continued, "A
spirit came out
from Ryou's Ring. It turned us all into cards." he paused
to see if
Mamoru was listening. She was watching the waves crash onto the rocks
below, but her face was rapt with attention. She gave a slight nod,
as
though asking for Yugi to go on.
" So we all turned into Cards. He was aout to take my Puzzle from
me,when another Spirit came out and Dueled him. That spirit was the
Spirit of
my Puzzle." Yugi said. Mamoru didn't comment. She just stared
at the
rocks. Yugi noticed that her hands, which were partway in her pockets,
had turned very pale.
"
What did the Spirits look like?" she said after some time.
"
That's the wierd thing," Yugi explained, "Mine looked
sort of like me,
and Ryou's looked sort of like him."
Mamoru seemed to ease. Her hands were no longer white, and they weren't
as tightly held in her pockets.
"
Yugi-kun, you really should be getting to bed." she said,
her voice
returning to it's natural coldness.
"
Alright. Are you sure you don't want to stay with us?" Yugi
asked
again. Mamoru shook his head. Yugi left back quietly into the clearing.
" They look like each other. So there was no way that that girl..."
Mamoru trailed off.

[ Chapter 2 ]
"
Good luck about tommorow!" Yugi said to Mai. They were finally
inside
Pegasus's Castle. They would have been here earlier, had it not been
for a slight dillemma concerning Seto Kaiba. Mamoru had been off
and on
with the gang, not really a part of it. She had told Yugi after he
had
recieved 10 Starchips from Mai that she wouldn't be able to come
with
them anymore. She offered no explanation as to why not. The group
had
enetered in time to watch Seto Kaiba Duel against Pegasus Crawford,
and
witnessed more of his cruelty. They had been given the order in which
they would be Dueling for the Finals. It was Yugi vs. Mai, and Jounouchi
vs. Bandit Kieth Howard. The winners of those Duels would Duel against
one another, then the final winner would face Pegasus. Yugi was
slightly dissappointed that Mamoru wouldn't be watching. He went
to the room
assigned to him.
'Aibou?' said his Spirit.
'Mm?' Yugi answered.
'What's the matter? I sense a feeling of sadness from you.' His Spirit
asked. Yugi sighed.
'I wanted Mamo-chan to watch me. She hasn't seen me Duel once since
we
met her over here.'
'I'm sure Mamoru has his- I mean her- reasons.' the Spirit said.
Yugi
just sighed again and took out his Duel Monsters to examine them.
'You know, most of these cards were Mamo-chan's.' Yugi said to his
Spirit.
'What do you mean?' the Spirit asked. He didn't know much about Yugi's
life before he had finished the Sennen Puzzle.
'Well, before Jii-san gave me our Puzzle, I wasn't really a Duelist.
Mamo-chan, on the other hand, was an expert. We used to even hold
small
tournaments in the Kame Shop for free cards, and she'd win them.'
Yugi
paused, looking far-off.
'She used most of these cards,' Yugi continued, indicating his deck.
'I
think the only ones she didn't have were the Black Magician and Black
Magician Girl. And a few Traps and Magic cards.' he said, waving
his
hand absentmindedly.
'All of these cards?' the Spirit said, sounding a little surprised,
'Then how did we aquire them?'
'Mamo-chan gave then to me.' Yugi said simply. He turned back to
looking at his cards, not noticing that the Spirit was showing signs
of
confusion.
'How strange...' the Spirit said to himself. Yugi looked up at him.
'What do you mean by that?'Yugi said. There was a hint of defiance
in
his voice, but a very TINY hint.
'I just meant...' the Spirit said, getting a far-away look in his
eyes,
almost identical to Yugi's. 'I thought... Weren't these Monsters
Destined just for us?' he asked out loud. Yugi shrugged.
'Mamo-chan has a new deck, anyways. It's wierd, though. Most people's
decks mirror their personalities, but Mamo's doesn't suit her at
all.'
Yugi held up his deck.
'But this one does. She was really nice to give it to me.' he said,
smiling to himself.
'Aibou, why did she give them to you?' the Spirit asked.
'She said... It would make me stronger.' Yugi said recalling what
his
cousin had told him almost 8 years ago.
'That's what he-sorry- she said?' the Spirit asked. Yugi nodded,
then
gave a huge yawn.
"
I'm sleepy." he said out loud. He put his deck in his pocket
and went
to bed. The Spirit returned to his mind chamber.
'How strange...' he thought once more.
**********
"
And so my little Tournament enters it's final stages." Pegasus
said to
himself. Then he burst out laughing. He laughed a lot for some reason.
"
Is there anything else you need, sir?" Croquet said from the
corner.
"
No, Crouquet-san. You are dismissed." He said. Crouquet left
as
Pegasus entered his tower room. He kept most of his painting of his
late wife
Cindy here. He switched on the light. As light flooded the small
room,
Pegasus saw a boy standing in front of him.
"
Who are you? How DARE you enter my private quarters!" Pegasus
shouted,
something he never did normally. The boy took a step closer to him.
"
Don't remember me, Pegasus-san?" The boy asked him coldly. Pegasus's
eyes widened in surprise as his brain jogged into a memory.
~~~Flashback~~~
"
Pegasus!" called a deep voice from behind him. Pegasus slowly
turned
around to face the person. He found himself looking at Mutou Mamoru,
one
of the Duel Testers of Duelist Kingdom. Before the tournament, Pegasus
had asked 4 random Duelists to come and test his tournament. He wanted
make sure his Eliminators could crush anyone he asked. That would
make
sure that they would have no trouble defeating Sennen Item holders
when
he officially started the tournament. Of course he hadn't expected
anyone to defeat any of his Eliminators.
"
Can I help you?" Pegasus asked, putting on his
I-may-be-a-villain-but-I'm-a-polite-villain smile.
"
Help? You might be able to." Mamoru said in his chilling voice.
"
And how may I be of service?" Pegasus asked, still keeping up
his
sanctimonious tone.
"
By letting me leave." Mamoru finished icily.
"
Oh, I'm SO sorry, but accoriding to our contract-" Pegasus started.
" I had to beat every single one of you're Eliminators to get off this
island. I already have." Mamoru interrupted, his voice as cold
as ever.
Pegasus was slightly taken aback.
"
Let me check." Pegasus said. He pushed aside his bangs and used
his
Sennen Eye to read the boy's thoughts. Mamoru was telling the truth.
"
So you beat all my Eliminators..." Pegasus murmured. He looked
back at
the boy in front of him, who was staring at a portrait of Shadi.
"
Mamoru-kun, would you like to hear a propositon?" Pegasus asked,
his
voice in a soft drawl.
"
Mutou-san." Mamoru corrected coldly. Pegaus blinked.
" Mutou-san, Would you like to be a Duelist Kingdom Eliminator? I'll
pay
400,000 yen a Duel, and a bonus if you-" Pegasus began. Mamoru
looked
down at him, Violet eyes ablaze and turning into a blood-red crimson
"
Do I look insane? I want out." Mamoru said in the coldest voice
Pegasus had heard yet, including the voice of the teen CEO Kaiba
Seto.
" I'm sorry. No one is supposed to survive my Eliminators. Especially
not Killer Player." Pegasus said.
"
I beat him within 5 minutes." Mamoru said.
"
I'm sorry." Pegasus said, shaking his head.
"
Let me leave." Mamoru said simply. Pegasus looked at him.
" I hav to send you to the Shadows. You can't tell everyone the secrets
of my Island." Pegasus said, once again pushing his bangs aside
to
reveal his Eye.
"
Send me to-" but Mamoru stopped. Pegasus watched as the boy
was hit
with a full blast of Sennen Magic. His eyes widened, but something
strange happened. Just before the blast hit him, something from under
his
shirt glowed.
"
NO!" screamed a voice, which certainly didn't belong to Mamoru.
For a
second, a girl appeared in front of Mamoru. She looked absolutely
nothing like him, having black hair that went half-way down her back,
and
blue eyes that reminded him of something. But she dissappeared right
after the Golden Light reached her. Mamoru had a shocked look on
his face.
Then he keeled back wards, his eyes closed.
"
Kemo-san." Pegasus said into his intercom, "I need you
to take someone
to the dungeons for me. You might want o bring a few assistants..."
~~~End of Flashback~~~
"
You!" Pegasus said. "How did-"
"
It wasn't that hard. I just pried open the bars with my hands." Mamoru
said icily.
"
But-" he reached inside his suit to his pocket where he kept
Soul
cards.
"
Looking for this?" Mamoru said, holding out a Soul-card. On
it was the
blue-eyed girl. On closer inspection, the picure showed the girl
wearing clothes identical to Mamoru's. On her neck was unmistakably...
"
The Sennen Pendant?" Pegasus said, leaning in for a better look
at the
card. Mamoru snatched it away.
"
Bring her back." Mamoru said in a freezing tone. Pegasus regained
his
composure.
"
What if I refuse?" he asked. Mamoru glared icily at him.
"
Because..." she took out a second card. It had a picture of
Cindy
Crawford on it.
"
Return that!" Pegasus demanded, trying to pull it from Mamoru.
But
Mamoru was quicker than him.
"
Restore her, and you can have it back." Mamoru said.
"
KEMO!" Pegasus yelled. Within 2 seconds, Kemo was there with
5 other
thugs.
"
Hand it over, and I'll let you go." Pegasus said.
"
Restore her." Mamoru repeated.
"
Get him!" Kemo ordered. The thugs surrounded Mamoru. Mamoru
glanced at
all of them, sizing them up. She grabbed Kemo, who was the biggest,
by
the arms and forced his arms to fold behind his back, like a chicken.
"
Wha-" Kemo said. Mamoru put her arms in the holes that Kemo's
arms
formed, and spun Kemo around, forcing him to hit all of his own thugs
with
his torso. All of them were knocked unconcious. Mamoru gave Kemo
a
well-aimed kick on his face. He fell over by his comrades,a streak
of blood
trickling down his mouth.
"
Mutou-san, you may have escaped once," Pegasus said, pushing
away his
white locks of hair "But not again." Golden light erupted
from his Eye
straight to Mamoru. But Mamoru held up the Soul Card with the girl
on
it in front of her. Pegasus gaped as the image on the card
dissappeared. Once more, he caught a flash of the girl before she
dissappeared.
Mamoru threw the card with Cindy Crawford at Pegasus. He caught it,
open-mouthed. He held up his hands in defeat, barely able to comprehend
that he had been outwitted by a teenager.
"
Who is she?" Pegasus asked, indicating the girl he had seen
a few
minutes earlier. For the first time Mamoru looked uncomfortable.
"
I don't know." She said truthfully.
"
Then why did you go through these troubles to save her?" he
asked
Mamoru weakly. Again, Mamoru looked unsure of herself.
"
I don't know." She said again.
"
Do you own the Sennen Pendant?" Pegasus asked, a little more
firmly.
"
This?" Mamoru asked, her voice returning to it's natural coldness.
She
pulled out a necklace from under her shirt. It was the Sennen Pendant.
"
One more thing. You are related to Mutou Yugi, ne?" He asked.
Mamoru
nodded.
"
You have the same Grandfather?" Mamoru nodded again.
"
Then why didn't you ask for him to be restored?" Pegasus asked.
For a
second, maybe even less than a second, a pained look came on Mamoru's
face. But it left.
"
Because it's Yugi's Destiny." She answered icily. She turned
to the
window and jumped out. Pegasus ran to see if Mamoru had actually
commited
suicide. Mamoru hadn't. She had landed on her feet. She left toward
the
dark woods of Duelist Kingdom Island.

'Don't worry, Aibou.' the Spirit said reassuringly to Yugi.
"
Who's worrying?" Yugi said out loud by an accident.
"
No one said you were worrying." Jounouchi said, sounding slightly
alarmed at his friends outburst. Yugi's face turned red.
"
Gomen, Jounouchi-kun. I was... talking to myself." Yugi said
apologetically.
"
Who are you going to Duel, Yugi-kun?" said a cold voice behind
him.
Yugi turned around.
"
Mamo-chan, you made it!" Yugi said, grabbing his cousin's arm.
Mamoru
just nodded.
"
I'm going to Duel Mai-san. You'll be watching, ne?" he asked
her. She
nodded again.
"
Arigato!" he said, as he left to face Mai and her Harpie Lady
Sisters.
