[ Yu-Gi-Oh! Virtual Quest ]

NOTE: It is recommended that you read Yu-Gi-Oh! The Emerald Duelist before reading this story.

A looooong side note before we begin: I’m truly sorry that the story is taking this long. The truth is... I’ve been busy. REAL busy.....REAL, real busy. I went to North Carolina for a few days to see a cousin’s high school graduation, went to Ohio for a family reunion, joined a forum, and...well, I started another story that I’ll probably be sending later, so, I’ve sort-of gotten off schedule for not just family events ^_^; . But, I have been busy. Actually, I decided to skip ahead past what I have here and work on further chapters in the story. But, since it ended up taking so long to write this story, I had to delete all but the first 5 chapters I wrote and send it here, since you’re probably dying to figure out what happens after The Emerald Duelist. So, anyway, sorry I couldn’t get the entire story in one piece, but for now on, I’ll be dedicated to finishing this story word for lousy word. Now, enjoy. (Or at least try to. What I have right now...isn’t really that good. In fact, it sucks, but it’ll get better as I upgrade.) 7/25/05

[ Chapter 1: The invitation ]

It was lunch time at Domino High School. Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Tea, Bakura, Duke, and Emo were sitting at the same table talking about something important.

Joey: You got a letter? Man, why don’t I get any mail?

Tea: Probably because you don’t mail anyone.

Joey: What’s your point?

Emo: The point is that you’re an idiot, Joey.

Joey: Shut up! Nobody asked you!

Tristan: Anyway, what did it say?

Yugi: I dunno, I couldn’t read it because... (Enter Flashback)

Solomon, Yugi’s grandpa, was walking downstairs when he saw a letter on the ground (the same one from the end of the first story).

Solomon: Yugi, you got mail!

Yugi walks downstairs.

Yugi: Who’s it from?

Just then, Peter Griffin and the guy in the chicken costume from Family Guy crash through the window and beat each other up.

Yugi: AHH!!!!!!!!!!

Solomon: I better get my firearm.

As Peter and the chicken man beat each other up, Solomon gets a shotgun and shoots them both. They drop dead.

Solomon: (puts the gun away and looks at the clock) Yugi! That shenanigan made you late for school!

Yugi: Can I read the letter first?

Solomon: That will make you even more late. (End Flashback)

Duke: So let me get this straight, a fat man and some guy in a chicken costume stopped you from reading the letter?

Yugi nods.

Bakura: Fascinating.

Yugi: Yeah, but the good part is that we can read the letter together after school.

Emo: Good point.

The bell rings.

Emo: Well, see you after school, guys.

[ Chapter 2: Reading the Invitation ]

School was over now, and Yugi and friends were going home to read Yugi’s letter.

Joey: I wonder what the letter’s gonna say.

Yugi: It had the back of a Duel Monsters card on it, so I bet it has something to do with Duel Monsters.

Emo: Ah, nothing is as relaxing as doing something involving Duel Monsters.

Yugi: Yep.

Emo: Also, nothing is as rewarding as beating someone down in a bloody, gruesome, devastating game of Duel Monsters!!!!!!!!!!

Yugi: Huh?

Emo: Uh...never mind. (thinking) Oh, that was a close one.

Just then, Mai Valentine rides up in her car.

Mai: Hey, boys and girls.

Joey: Uh...hey, Mai.

Emo whistles, then Joey punches him in the nose.

Emo: Ah! Son of a...!

Mai: .....Need a lift?

Yugi: Sure.

So the gang rides to Yugi’s house in Mai’s car.

Mai: Well, see ya.

Joey: Wait, don’t you want to come inside?

Mai thinks about it for a while.

Mai: Okay.

They go inside and see Solomon at the counter reading the newspaper.

Solomon: Ah, Yugi! Did you have a nice day at school?

Yugi: Yeah, can I read the letter now?

Solomon: Sure.

Solomon gives Yugi the note, and then the gang goes upstairs to read it.

Yugi: Well, this is it.

Yugi opens the note and reads it.

Dear Yugi,

My name is Draco Darklord. I have heard of your dueling skills and I am inviting you to test a virtual Duel Monsters game. I’d be very happy if you came. There are 2 boxes at the bottom of this letter, but you probably knew that. If you choose the yes box, my limousine drivers will pick you up in 5 minutes. If you choose no, then the motion sensor bomb on the back of the letter will activate and the building you are in and everything in it will explode, and everything includes you. So if I were you, I’d choose yes.

Draco Darklord

Joey: Looks like he isn’t giving us much choice.

Emo: Can we come?

Yugi: It doesn’t say you can.

Tristan: Wait, the letter isn’t finished speaking.

P.S.: You can bring as many friends as you want. They don’t have to be duelists, but it would be nice.

Yugi: Now it does.

Joey: Yay! Put yes! Put yes!

Duke: I don’t know guys.

Joey: You don’t know anything, Duke.

Duke: This could be some sort of trap.

Tristan: How?

Duke: He’s trying to force us here by using a dummy motion sensor.

Tristan: And if we choose no, then we’ll blow up!

Duke: We’re not gonna blow up!

Yugi: Hm...I’m putting yes.

Duke: I warned you.

Then, there’s a knock on the door.

Joey: Are they here already?

Joey gets the door and sees Serenity.

Serenity: Hey, Joey.

Joey: Serenity!

They hug each other, happy to see each other.

Emo: So that’s Serenity?

Yugi: Yep.

Emo whistles again. Joey and Serenity stop hugging.

Joey: Hey! You better watch it, Emo!

Emo: (sarcastically) Ooh, I’m so scared.

Joey tackles Emo and they beat each other up.

Serenity: Guys, stop fighting!

They both stop immediately.

Solomon: Yugi! Someone’s at the door for you!

Joey: That must be our limo driver.

Serenity: Huh?

Joey: Oh yeah, Yugi got this letter and we’re going to test some virtual game.

Serenity: Can I come?

Emo: Sure.

Joey: I dunno.

Emo: Hey, let the kid have some fun, will you?

Joey: Oh, all right.

They go downstairs to the limousine and drive to Darklord.

[ Chapter 3: Virtual Quest Begins ]

Everyone’s been riding for 45 minutes by now.

Joey: Are we there yet?

Emo: No.

There’s a short pause.

Joey: Are we there now?

Mai: No.

Joey: Now?

Tea: No.

Joey: How about now?

Tristan: Not yet.

Joey: Are we even close?

Duke: I dunno. (to the driver) Are we almost there?

Driver: No.

Duke: He said “No.”

Joey: Are we halfway...

Emo: Will you please!!!

Joey is silent for 20 more minutes.

Joey: Are we...

Emo: Shut up.

Driver: We’re here.

Joey: Finally!

Joey jumps out of the van.

Joey: Uh...this is the airport.

Driver: That’s because you’ll be taking a plane.

Joey: NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why?

Joey falls to his hands and knees and cries comically (like in animes). Emo gets out and steps on the back of Joey’s head as he walks on.

Emo: Come on, Wheeler, one plane ride isn’t the end of the world.

The plane ride is 50 minutes long.

Emo: Well, maybe it is.

Tristan: No wonder we rode a plane. This guy lives on an island!

They walk inside the mansion and see Seto Kaiba and his brother, Mokuba.

Yugi: Kaiba?

Kaiba: Yugi!

Joey: Mokuba!

Mokuba: Joey!

Tea: Mokuba!

Tristan: Mokuba!

Emo: Emo!

Everyone stares at Emo.

Emo: What?

Then, Darklord walks in the room.

Darklord: Greetings everyone, I am...

Joey: Draco Darklord. We know that already.

Darklord: Oh. Anyway, welcome to my mansion. Before we begin, I must explain everything about my virtual game.

Darklord ends up explaining for 6 hours until he finishes.

Darklord: Did you get all that?

Everyone else is fast asleep.

Darklord: Ahem!

Everyone wakes up.

Joey: Yeah sure, whatever.

Darklord: Good, because Virtual Quest is about to begin!

We hear 3 muffled voices from under the ground.

Tea: Who’s that?

Darklord: That’s my parrot, uh...Jeff! His name is Jeff.

Darklord stomps on the floor.

Darklord: Keep it down, Jeff. I got company.

Darklord goes to his computer and types some things until a portal appears in the middle of the room.

Darklord: Go through the portal and the game will begin.

One by one, Yugi and friends, and Kaiba go through the portal. Then, when they all go through, Darklord goes into the portal.

Darklord: And when it ends, your Millennium Puzzle will be mine, Yugi.

[ Chapter 4: Adapting to new surroundings ]

In the virtual game, Yugi and friends are scattered throughout some blue area. Don’t worry, they won’t get hurt. Oh yeah, they’re also in groups. The groups are: Yugi and Tea; Joey, Tristan, and Duke; Bakura; Mai and Serenity; Kaiba and Mokuba; and Emo.

Yugi and Tea

Yugi and Tea end up in a snowy plain. There is a blizzard going on that’s so fierce that we can barely see anything.

Yami (the pharaoh in the Millennium Puzzle): Yugi, you should let me take over from here on.

Yugi: Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh!

Then, the pharaoh takes over Yugi’s body.

Yami: We’re caught in the middle of a blizzard, just great.

Tea: Yugi!

Yami: Tea! You’re here too?

Tea: Yeah, I can’t see anything!

Yami: Hold on, Tea, I’ll find you!

Joey, Tristan, and Duke

Joey, Tristan, and Duke end up in a virtual beach.

Tristan: That wasn’t fun.

Duke: Yeah, I know. This guy really knows how to help us travel.

Joey is staring out into the sea.

Tristan: Something on your mind, Joey?

Joey: This reminds me of when Serenity and I were kids and we went to a beach that looked just like this one. We had a good time and I promised her we’d go back.

Duke: Yeah, Serenity. Hey, where is she?

Joey: She’s not here?!

Kaiba and Mokuba

The Kaiba bros. end up in a desert.

Kaiba: Of all the places we could have ended up, it had to be a desert.

Mokuba: Even the virtual sun is hot.

Kaiba: Yeah, we should get out of here.

Emo

Emo: This isn’t a virtual forest, this is heaven!

Emo ended up in a virtual forest with a hot tub. Emo gets in the tub and relaxes.

Emo: Wait, shouldn’t I have taken my clothes off before getting in?

Emo is silent for a while.

Emo: I guess not. This place is virtual anyway. I guess it doesn’t matter.

Mai and Serenity

Serenity and Mai end up in a meadow.

Serenity: Where’s Joey?

Mai: I don’t know, but we better find him and the others, too.

Suddenly, a few Mountain Warriors (Atk: 600) come out.

Serenity: Mai, what will we do?

Mai: I got this.

Mai activates her duel disk.

Mai: Bring it on!

Bakura

Bakura ends up on what looks like the top of a flat mountain. There is also a house and a forest behind the house.

Bakura: Where am I?

Bakura checks his surroundings.

Bakura: Wherever I am, I don’t like it.

A dark voice: Me neither, that’s why we’re getting outta here!

Bakura: Oh no! Not again!

Bakura is then taken over by the spirit of the Millennium Ring.

Yami Bakura: Now to find Yugi and get his Millennium Puzzle. I summon Dead Dragon-Zoma (Atk: 1600)!

A decayed dragon appears. Bakura gets on it and it flies away.

Yugi and Tea

Yami: Tea! Where are you?!

Tea: I’m over here!

Yami: Where!

Tea: Follow my voice!

Yami walks aimlessly through the blizzard until he feels something.

Yami: Tea?

Tea: Yeah?

Yami: Is that you?

Tea: Speak up! I can’t hear you!

Yami: Then what am I...?

Yami sees that he found a tree.

Yami: Stupid tree!

Yami kicks the tree.

Tea: Yugi, where are you?!

Yami: I’m coming Tea!

Yami goes back to walking aimlessly. Then he hears a sneezing noise.

Yami: Tea?

Tea: Yeah, that was me.

Yami: Stupid blizzard!

Then, Yami notices that the storm is dying a little bit.

Yami: That was convenient.

Tea sneezes again.

Yami: Hold on, Tea!

Yami walks around until he bumps into someone.

Yami: Tea?

Tea: Yugi!

Yami helps Tea up.

Yami: We have to get out of this storm.

Bakura

Yami Bakura is still flying on Zoma.

Yami Bakura: (thinking) You better watch out, Yugi. I’m going to get you, and your puzzle.

Yami Bakura laughs maniacally.

Emo

Emo: Strange, this place is virtual, yet I feel wet. Oh well, as long as I enjoy myself, it doesn’t matter.

[ Chapter 5: Escaping the Storm ]

Yugi and Tea

Yami is carrying Tea through the blizzard.

Yami: Don’t worry, Tea, we’ll be out of this storm in a while.

Tea: I hope so.

Tea sneezes again.

Yami: Bless you.

Tea: Thanks. Yugi, I’m feeling tired. It’s like I can’t stay awake.

Tea passes out.

Yami: Don’t worry about it, Tea.

Tea doesn’t respond.

Yami: Tea?

Yami looks back to see Tea unconscious.

Yami: Oh.

Yami takes off his jacket, puts it on Tea, and keeps walking.

Mai and Serenity

Mai: I summon Harpie Lady (Atk: 1300)! Attack those Mountain Warriors!

Harpie Lady attacks and destroys some of the Mountain Warriors.

Serenity: Wow, Mai!

Mai: Once you’ve been dueling as long as I have, you know how to play your cards just right.

Mai’s Harpie Lady destroys more Mountain Warriors.

Yugi and Tea

Yami: (thinking) Don’t worry, Tea, I’ll get you out of the blizzard.

The blizzard clears even more, and Yami finds an opening in a wall.

Yami: A cave.

Yami walks in the cave. A few minutes later, Tea wakes up. Yami has started a fire and he is warming up against it.

Tea: Yugi?

Yami: Tea, you’re awake. Come by the fire and get some warmth.

Tea gets up, walks to the fire, and sits down again.

Yami: I assume you’re feeling better?

Tea: I’m a little better. Hey Yugi, why am I wearing your jacket?

Yami: I put it on you when you passed out. I figured you could use some warmth. You needed it more than I did in that situation.

Tea: Thanks.

Yami: No problem. I’ll check if the blizzard’s gone.

Yami gets up and heads toward the exit.

Tea: (thinking) Yugi’s always there to help me. It’s as if we were meant to be together in some way.

Yami: Hey, the storm’s gone.

Tea: Really?

Tea rushes toward Yami and sees that the blizzard has stopped.

Yami: Let’s go.

Joey, Tristan, and Duke

Joey: Where is Serenity?!?!?!?!?!

Tristan: Joey! Calm down! We’ll find her!

Joey: You better!

Duke: I think he meant all 3 of us.

Tristan: Yeah, I did.

Joey rushes off.

Joey: I’m coming, Serenity!

Tristan: Joey!

Duke: Wait for us!

Kaiba and Mokuba

Mokuba: Seto, this desert is killing me.

Kaiba: Apparently, this Darklord character wants to have some gentlemen’s fun.

Mokuba: I can’t take it anymore.

Kaiba: I’m afraid you’ll have to.

Mokuba: Look, a well!

Kaiba: But I don’t see any...

Mokuba dashes off to where he sees the well.

Kaiba: Mokuba!

As Mokuba gets closer to the well, it disappears more and more.

Mokuba: Okay, where’s the well?

Kaiba walks over to Mokuba and drags him forward.

Mokuba: Wait, what about the well? Seto? Seto!
