[ ADVENTURES
OF THE BABY BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON ]
Story By Emma Blue Eyes
New Characters:
Nefertari – wife of Atem
Lily – Sister of Kisara and Nefertari
Taran – general of Atem’s army
Baby Blue Eyes – hero and Nefertari’s pet.
It was morning after the festival of Op-ed, one
of the most important festivals in the ancient Egyptian calendar.
Queen Nefertari was in her room getting dressed. It was only
2 years since she married Pharaoh Atem (Nefertari called him
“Yami” his nickname), a king of 15 years old, who was a good
straggliest – games or wars. Pharaoh Atem was just walking to
Nefertari’s room and he knocked on the door. Nefertari called
“Come in” and in he went. Atem had only just got in the door
when…CRASH!!...Atem landed on his back with Nefertari’s pet
dragon-Baby Blue Eyes White Dragon-on his tummy. Atem scowled
at the Baby Blue Eyes and with a couple of squeaks, Baby Blue
Eyes jumped off Atem, into Nefertari’s arms.
“Can’t you at least train him to stop jumping on me?” asked
Atem, “It is becoming annoying…”
“Oh Atem, quit complaining, he’s only a baby, he doesn’t know
what’s right and wrong yet,” replied Nefertari, “Any way he’s
probably just happy to see you.”
She smiled, and cuddled the creature which gave a few squeaks
to Nefertari, but a raspberry to Atem. Atem scowled back at
the Baby Blue Eyes.
Baby Blue Eyes was a new born, he was only 8 weeks old, but
a naughty and cheeky one. Nefertari had been a White Dragon
Child – half human, half Blue Eyes – and in her mind was a spirit
of a Blue Eyes. However it only came out in times of trouble
and she had to be unconscious as well. Baby Blue Eyes obeyed
only her and her two half sisters – Kisara and Lily – who are
also married and living in the Palace. Kisara was married to
Priest Seito who held the Millennium Rod, and Lily was married
to Taran who was a general in the army.
Pharaoh Atem and Nefertari walked hand in hand down to the
throne room with Baby Blue Eyes at Nefertari’s heels. As they
entered everyone bowed low to them, and they both sat down on
their thrones. However Nefertari noticed that Atem looked paler
than usual and wondered if he was ill.
“Let the meeting begin,” said Atem, “I’ll meet the ambassador
from Nubia first and then the Syrian messenger.”
“Pharaoh, as you wish,” said Shimon, Pharaoh’s right hand man.
“Bring in the Nubian Ambassador.”
When the Nubian entered, he bowed very low to Atem and Nefertari
and walked up to them. This was about the amount of gold flowing
through to Egypt and the talks lasted for 20 minutes.
After the Ambassador left, Atem put a hand to his head and moaned
slightly. His head was pounding and he also felt dizzy. Nefertari
saw what happened and asked if he was alright. Atem replied
he was fine but he started to feel very dizzy. Baby Blue Eyes
knew that something was wrong with Atem. He tugged at Nefertari’s
dress to let her know but all he got was a “shush” and he saw
that Atem was getting weaker every minute.
Atem felt very weak, but he knew that he had to get this over
and done with.
Nefertari said “You don’t look well, what is wrong?”
Atem put his hands over his eyes and said “I-I-I don’t know,
my-my h-head feels like…” and with out warning he slid from
his throne onto the floor and started to shake. Nefertari cried
“Oh God, no! Atem! Carry him to his room, now!!”
Priest Seito, Taran and Shimon carried Atem back to his room,
while Kisara and Lily came to see what was wrong. When Nefertari
entered, Atem was on the bed, pale, sweating and shaking. He
kept moaning and thrashing his head from side to side. Nefertari
took his hand in hers and looked at him, her eyes filled with
tears. She stroked his cheek and wished he would wake up. Baby
Blue Eyes jumped up on the bed and cuddled up to Atem, squeaking,
hoping that Atem would react.
“The Pharaoh is extremely ill,” said Kisara “He has terpis trio,
a disease that will make him very ill, and kill him unless we
can find a cure.”
“B-b-but there is no known cure for this,” whispered Nefertari,
tears streaming down her face, “P-p-please help him, I-I-I d-don’t
want to lose him, I’ve known him since childhood.” She buried
her face in Atem’s chest and started to cry softly.
“Wait, I remember something,” said Lily, “Remember that legend?
About the potion thingy?”
“Yes, I do,” replied Kisara “Nefertari?”
Nefertari wiped the tears from her face and her eyes glowed
a very blue colour.
“Yes I do…. It’s about a potion created by the Blue Eyes White
Dragon that was said to have been lost thousands of years ago.”
“What does the potion do?” asked Priest Seito
“It returns you to full health, no matter how close to death
you are.” replied Kisara.
“Squeak, squeak, squeak, Atem.” Squeaked the Baby Blue Eyes
Everyone looked at Atem; he was stirring and slowly opened his
eyes.
“Nefertari…” he whispered, “what happened? What’s going on?”
“Hush, now, you fallen very ill, and we need permission to go
and find your cure.” said Nefertari.
“Pharaoh, you have terpis trio, and the White Dragon Sisters
may know a cure for it” said Shimon.
“And you have to find it within a least three days, or you be
in serious trouble.” said Taran.
“I know, and I’ll come on this trip, no matter how ill I am,”
replied Atem looking at everyone. To everyone amazement, and
Nefertari’s delight, He stood up. His chest was bare, but Nefertari
knew that the strength marked him brave and strong for someone
who was still not an adult yet.
“Let’s get this on the road, prepare the horses, we’ll leave
in the morning.” said Atem.
“Pharaoh, as you wish,” replied Shimon.
They all bowed and left the room, leaving Nefertari and Atem
alone with Baby Blue Eyes. Nefertari cuddled Atem, and said
that she loved him. Atem whispered the words back to her, while
the Baby Blue Eyes watched the Millennium Puzzle swing from
Atem’s neck. He was going to be naughty again. When Atem broke
away from Nefertari, Baby Blue Eyes jumped up and caught the
Puzzle in his teeth and the rope snapped. He then ran as fast
as he could with the puzzle while Atem yelled, “BABY BLUE EYES!!
GIVE BACK MY PUZZLE!!”
Atem tried to run after him, but got tired within a minute.
Nefertari came up to take him back to his room.
“You shouldn’t do that, you know you’re ill. Come on, I’ll get
the puzzle.”
When Atem had laid down on the bed, with Nefertari sitting on
the edge, she clapped twice and Baby Blue Eyes came and jumped
onto her lap, with the Puzzle in his mouth.
“Give, come on now, give” soothed Nefertari as she tried to
tug the Puzzle out of his mouth. “Give or no treats for a week.”
She warned.
Baby Blue Eyes let go at once and sat on his blanket ready to
take a nap. He watched as Nefertari leaned over Atem, and saw
Atem pull her onto the bed with him. Baby Blue Eyes shook his
head as the two of them kissed, and then settled down to sleep.
Baby Blue Eyes stretched his wings and fell asleep.
Next morning, everyone was up bright and early for the adventure
ahead. Despite many arguments about Atem’s health, he refused
to stay in the Palace.
“Look, I’ve never gone anywhere without my wife, and I am not
going to miss this for the world. Do you understand?” Atem asked.
His voice was slightly raised – not a good sign.
About two hours later, everything was ready. Atem and Nefertari
both had white horses, while Seito, Kisara, Lily and Taran got
brown horses. Shimon was to remain behind and look after the
country while the Pharaoh was away.
“Pharaoh, we are now ready. On your signal.” said Taran.
“Right, let’s go!!” and kicking his horse, Atem led the way
out of the Palace with everyone following behind. People lined
the streets of Thebes to watch the Royal Party leave the city
and out into the desert. What none of them knew was that there
was a hidden stowaway….
It was midday by the time they arrived the oasis where real
Blue Eyes White Dragons lived. Nefertari, Kisara and Lily all
went in first because they had power over the Blue Eyes. The
Blue Eyes welcomed them and got some food out to help the travellers.
One of the Blue Eyes was very old, and she had been the nurse
for Nefertari when she was young. Her name was Emma and she
was pleased to see her child grown up happily.
“Blue Eyes, listen, my husband Atem, has got terpis trio, and
the only thing we know to cure it is the Legendry potion. Do
you know anything about its location?” asked Nefertari.
“Well, we do know about it,” said Emma,” but the location, we’re
not sure about, the last we heard, it was in a mountain temple,
dedicated to a Dark God and its servant. And we are very sorry
to hear this news; you must be full of sorrow.”
“We are not bothered about it,” said Atem, “As long as we can
find it and my wife is there to help me, I have enough strength
to go on.” He gazed at Nefertari with love.
Just then, a bag moved, and everyone saw it. Atem and Seito
got out their swords while Taran stayed to protect the girls.
As they got closer a flash of white skin told them who it was.
“BABY BLUE EYES!!” shouted Atem, and tried to grab the creature.
However, Baby Blue Eyes dodged Atem and jumped on Nefertari’s
lap.
“I thought I told you to stay in the Palace.” said Nefertari
angrily. “I am disappointed in you Baby Blue Eyes.”
Baby Blue Eyes dropped its head and squeaked gently, tears in
his eyes because he was upset that he had angered Nefertari.
Nefertari’s face softened, and she cuddled the creature saying,
“Oh, you silly little thing.”
“For goodness sake, you never hold a grudge against that thing.”
said Atem grumpily.
“I remember that YOU don’t seem to hold a grudge against me
either, because you always feel so guilty after anything you
do to ME.” replied Nefertari. “Anyway, we have no choice but
to take him on the trip with us.”
Atem’s eyes narrowed at Nefertari and the Baby Blue Eyes. Then
he turned around
and walked to the horses shaking his head.
The party left the Blue Eyes home and headed north where the
Blue Eyes know that the temple was the last place it was resting.
Baby Blue Eyes was resting on Nefertari’s lap but did not like
the journey on the horses because it was too bumpy.
For the rest of the day, they travelled to the north and by
nightfall, they were at the temple.
“We’ll rest here for the night. Feed the horses then ourselves,
and also set up a fire too.” called Atem.
The girls went off to get firewood, while the boys made camp.
Everyone had something to eat then they all settled down to
sleep. Baby Blue Eyes brought his blanket, so he slept on that.
It was about midnight, when Nefertari had the nightmare. She
was walking to the temple and went inside seeing all these red
eyes following her. Then she saw Atem at the alter – and he
wasn’t moving. Frantic, she tried to help him, but then this
black dragon came out of nowhere and it killed Atem with a blast
like fire. Nefertari screamed in the dream and also when she
woke up. Atem was at her side at once trying to comfort her
while Kisara looked for a plant to try to calm her down.
“Oh-oh-oh A-Atem you were killed, a-and it was a-a b-black dragon
that d-did it. You w-were killed inside t-the temple. And… oh,
God” she buried her face in her hands.
“What?” asked Atem hugging her and laying his cheek atop her
hair, “You mean…”
“YOU can’t g-go into that t-temple, because you’ll d-die.” She
started to cry into Atem’s warm, bare chest.
“Pharaoh,” said Lily, When Nefertari has a dream like this it
often comes true.”
“Pharaoh, you must not go into that temple if that is what your
wife says…” said Seito
“NO! I won’t let something like this take my mind off the potion.
We’re here to save my life and I’m not letting my wife go in
alone. Without me” shouted Atem.
Atem cuddled his wife close to him and kissed her cheek and
hair, before kissing her mouth.
“Here, I’ve found the plant for you Sister,” said Kisara, “Drink
it you’ll feel much better.” She handed Nefertari a cup with
a green liquid in it. She took a gulp, and then spat it in Atem’s
face.
“Oh God, sorry Atem,” she said coughing, “What on earth is this
stuff?”
“It’s a plant that helps you get back to sleep. I know it tastes
foul, but it does help.” replied Kisara.
“Thanks for a bit of it,” growled Atem drying his face, “I’ll
probably have nightmares now.”
“I said I was sorry. Lets get back to sleep, we’ve got a big
day ahead of us tomorrow.” said Nefertari.
She lay down on the blanket and turned onto her side. She felt
Atem’s warm chest against her back and also felt his strong
arm close around her as if trying to protect her. She fell asleep
and didn’t have a nightmare for the rest of the night. No-one
noticed that Baby Blue Eyes was gone…
Morning came and everyone was up, except Atem. He was feeling
very weak and ordered that no-one was to go into the temple
until he got his health back. It wasn’t until midday that he
felt strong enough to walk.
They all walked up the path leading to the temple, while Nefertari
worried about the dream. They all went in and Nefertari thought
she saw a red eye above the entrance. She started to worry,
BIG time.
“We won’t slit up, because the Blue Eyes warned us of unseen
dangers if we were separated,” said Atem. “The risk is too great,
and I won’t lose my loyal friends and family.”
Nefertari gazed at him with love-even now, he was still strong
and brave even if they were walking into a trap. Nefertari hoped
the dream wasn’t going to happen.
They all walked for about 20 minutes when they reached a hall.
It had a high ceiling, and there were four doors, leading all
different directions.
“Welcome,” said a hissing voice, “I’ve been expecting you, and
you too, White Dragon Sisters.”
Before Atem, Seito or Taran could pull out their swords, an
invisible force grabbed them and put Seito and Kisara down one
door, Lily and Taran down another. Atem went down the third
door and Nefertari down the last door. Then all the doors sealed
themselves while red eyes gleamed everywhere.
Atem woke up in a dark chamber and stumbled out the only door,
only to see his beloved Nefertari hanging by her wrists over
an alter, while the other four were tied to stakes, wood and
hay around their feet. He looked up to see a huge chamber with
carvings of a dragon creature, painted black with red eyes.
“Hello Pharaoh,” said the hissing voice, “Are you ready for
a Shadow Game of Death?”
“Who are you? Show yourself!” shouted Atem.
“I am here beside your wife.”
Atem looked, to see Nefertari lying on the alter, with a monster
over her, holding a large knife. The creature was half man and
half jackal – Anubis, the Dark god of the Underworld. Behind
him rose the dragon on the ceiling – the Red Eyes Black Dragon,
a long time enemy of the Blue Eyes.
“Don’t you touch her!” shouted Atem, “Let the others go, they’ve
nothing to do with this!”
“No,” said Anubis, “They’ll play a part in the game”
“What game?” asked Atem.
“Its really simple, if you can stop the fire getting to your
friends and save your wife, you’ll all go free, with you potion.
If not they die and you will watch the sacrifice of you wife
and then YOU die too.” said Anubis.
“However, you will become weaker and weaker every minute, until
you can no longer help your friends. You only have 10 minutes
to save your wife.”
Without warning Atem fell to his knees, he had never felt so
much pain – he screamed. Nefertari looked at him with her eyes
full of tears, while the others looked on in shock. Atem knew
his time limit had started, and he had to move – fast.
And then he saw Anubis point his finger to the trail of hay
that led to the other four. Fire started and Atem ran as fast
as he could to try and use his cloak to put it out. It failed.
It was then he spotted a huge jar of water hanging. He grabbed
his sword but just as he was about to throw it, again that terrible
pain came to Atem. He crumpled in a heap, screaming. Nefertari
looked away – she couldn’t bear to watch, but she could still
hear Atem’s screams. Atem got up about 2 minutes later and with
all his might, threw the sword at the rope holding the jar up.
It cut right through, sending a huge gush of water on to the
floor towards the fire, which was only a metre away from his
friends. Thankfully, the fire was put out; he cut them all free
and told them to get out. Now he had five minutes to save his
wife. But then the awful pain returned and it lasted for three
minutes. Now he only had two minutes to save his wife.
Atem moved towards Anubis, a dagger concealed in his hand. As
he got closer, the Red Eyes attack him – he was lucky to get
out of the way. Twice it blasted him and he ducked, but it made
him go further back from Nefertari. He took a deep breath and
ran. He ran towards the Alter, and jumped. Anubis thought he
would free Nefertari and hit him to the floor.
“You do realise that the potion doesn’t exist?” said Anubis.
But then Baby Blue Eyes appeared out of nowhere and bit Anubis
on his arm, giving Atem the chance to plunge the dagger in to
the Dark God’s stomach. The Dark God exploded into a thousand
pieces. Atem cut Nefertari free, but before he could embrace
her, the Red Eyes blasted Atem on target.
“NNNOOO!!!” screamed Nefertari.
Nefertari’s eyes started to glow blue. Suddenly a white light
came from Nefertari, to take shape of the Blue Eyes White Dragon.
It did its white lightning attack on the Red Eyes, and it too,
shattered into a thousand pieces. The dragon faded and Nefertari
ran to Atem, who was lying very still on the floor.
“Atem, Atem, speak to me,” wept Nefertari. The dream can’t come
true, it just can’t! She looked everywhere to find the potion,
but all she found was a empty bottle, that once held the potion.
This couldn’t be happening! She ran back to Atem.
“Atem, please say something.” No reply.
“Oh, no!” she cuddled Atem, crying and praying that he would
wake up. He couldn’t be dead.
Baby Blue Eyes came up to Atem. He nudged Atem’s head with his
nose. He even tried to pull his hair, but there was no reply.
Baby Blue Eyes cried and some tears dropped onto Atem’s chest,
where his heart was.
Nefertari laid Atem down and turned to cry into her knees.
Suddenly a blue light came from Atem, and he opened his eyes.
He groaned and got up only to get accidentally smacked in the
face by Nefertari when she turned around.
“Oh my God! Atem, you’re alive!” she cuddled him.
“Yes I’m alright” said Atem, “let’s go and meet the others.
How did I…”
“The tears of a white dragon have healing powers.” said Nefertari.
“I didn’t know until just now. Baby Blue Eyes saved the day”
They both embraced and had a kiss, while Baby Blue Eyes blushed
and hid himself behind his wing.
They walked out of the temple, to be greeted by the rest of
the party. Then Nefertari, Kisara and Lily all glowed white
and released the Blue Eyes within them so that they all had
a ride to go home, because the Dark God had scared all the horses
away.
Back at the Palace Seito and Kisara went for a rest, while
Taran and Lily went to see the horses. Atem and Nefertari took
a romantic bath together. When they got out and dried themselves,
Atem was about to embrace Nefertari, when Baby Blue Eyes knocked
him over from the back.
“Ouch! Do you mind?” he growled,” You are pushing…”
Baby Blue Eyes had grabbed the puzzle from Atem’s neck and ran
off with it – again.
“BABY BLUE EYES!!” yelled Atem, running out of the door.
Nefertari sighed. She was glad that every thing had gone back
to normal – especially Baby Blue Eyes and his tricks on Atem.
