[ Soulless ]
Story By Atomic Anzu

[ Chapter 1 ]

Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh. Okay? I don't. If I did, I'd be as rich as Seto Kaiba, Bill Gates, and J.Lo put together, and would be off in some spa somewhere instead of sitting on my butt at this computer writing this fanfic.

Characters:
All the characters of the Orichalcos Doom series, save for one new character:
Alina Motou, age: 15
Yugi's twin sister
Owner of the mysterious Eighth Item, the Millennium Pendant
Appearance: Waist-long, jet-black hair, amethyst eyes, about Yugi's height (would be Yugi's height if not for Yugi's hair, LOL) usually in a T-shirt and blue jeans, black Converse All-Stars. Any more information you need will be given during the fic.

Author's note: This fic puts a nice little twist on the Orichalcos Doom series by adding a new character and having her tell the story. I might change the plot a little, so, be prepared.

Chapter 1

"For my final move, I sacrifice my Karibo and my Big Shield Gardna (spelling?) to play Red Eyes Black Dragon!" I said, laughing cruelly.
"No! Don't do this! Please! Spare my soul! Please!" Said a girl from across the field.
"Yes, please, spare my sister's soul!" Said the girl's wide-eyed little brother.
"My little brother needs me! I can't leave him! Please, please, don't do this to me!" Pleaded the girl.
"Sorry, sweetheart, but this is the price you knew you would have to pay when you accepted this duel. Now, my Red Eyes, attack her life points directly!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Cried the girl. I just watched, laughing as the seal of Orichalcos closed in on the girl, trapping her in preparation to take her soul. I then watched her brother's futile attempt to help her. "No! No! Sister!" The girl fell to the ground, soulless. Her brother cradled her in his arms. "Sister! Sister! Come back! Please! Sister!"
That struck a chord in my heart. How could I do this?
"Alina,"
How could I be so cruel?
"Alina,"
I had given in to a darkness within myself, and now I had become a monster-
"Alina!"
I woke with a start, panting and gasping and soaked with sweat and tears.
"Alina, are you okay?" I looked up. My brother was standing over me, his amethyst eyes wide with concern.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay." I sat up. He sat down on the edge of my bed.
"You had that dream again, didn't you?" He asked.
"Uh…" I wanted to hide it from him, but had learned long ago that hiding anything from him was useless. "Yeah. I did." I sighed.
He squeezed my hand. "Don't worry about it, Alina. It's just a dream."
"I know Yugi, but… well… It's just…" I trailed off.
"Yeah?" He prodded.
"I'm starting to think that it wasn't just a dream. That maybe… it actually happened. Maybe that's where I was before… the accident."
Before I go any further, I should tell you about The Accident. See, my life is divided into three chapters: Before Accident One, Between Accident One and Two, and After Accident Two. Accident One (a drive-by shooting me and my mother were caught in) separated me from my family through a strange turn of events, I lived in an orphanage through the second chapter of my life, and Accident Two, or "The Accident" as I came to call it, reunited me with my family through an equally strange turn of events. Here's how it happened: When I was about ten or eleven years old, the people in the orphanage reported a missing girl. That girl was, of course, me. Some people say I rode off with some biker gang, but, seeing as how I was ten, no one believed them.
After two years, people seemed to give up the search. Decided it was useless, and that I was probably dead. And since I was just an orphan, no one cared about me. But, one cold, April day, I showed up. I was driving through Domino City with a California licensed Harley Davidson, and was hit by an SUV from behind. The wreck ended up being a five-car pile up, so, of course, no one noticed a twelve-year old laying a few yards away in the grass- no one, that is, except for a twelve-year-old boy who was on a walk with his grandfather who immediately recognized me as the sister who had "died" several years earlier. A month later, I woke up from a coma in the hospital.
And couldn't remember a thing.
Friends at the orphanage were able to help me get most of my memories back, but, of course, no one could help me with the two years I was gone: no one knew where I was. So, I settled back into life, reunited with my brother and grandfather, and forgot all about trying to remember. (As weird as that sounds.) But this dream kept haunting me, which leads us back to my original story.
"What do you mean, Alina?" Asked Yugi.
I sighed. "I don't know. I guess it just seems so familiar. That's probably because I've had the dream so often, but still. I can't help but wonder if it means something. I mean, I know I shouldn't dwell on the past, but I just wish I could find out where I was for those two years. Maybe it would give us a few answers, you know?"
"I know exactly how you feel." Said a deep voice from the foot of my bed.
"Hey, Pharaoh." I said. I was the only person who could communicate with Pharaoh, besides Yugi when they weren't switched, thanks to my Millennium Pendant.
"Hello, Alina. I know how you feel, wanting to find lost memories."
"Of course! I should have remembered. Uh, no pun intended."
He smiled, then gave a little chuckle. "It's hard knowing that there's an event you can't remember, especially when you were there. But if you keep obsessing over it, you won't get anywhere. I'm sure whatever it was, if it was that important, you'll figure it out. Just be patient with yourself."
"Yeah. You're right. Thanks, Pharaoh."
"Now, try to get some sleep," said Yugi, "it won't be long before we have to get up and go to the airport." He squeezed my hand and got up.
"Okay. Goodnight, Yugi." Yugi left, followed by Pharaoh. When the two were out in the hall, I heard Yugi say, "'If you keep obsessing over finding your past, you won't get anywhere.' Hehe, look who's talkin'!"
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" Said Pharaoh defensively. I Laughed.
Then I rolled over and went to sleep.
