Summary

Willa Mette, a card professor who was defeated by Seto Kaiba in episode 14 and 15, is lying down on the top of KC building at night. He gets up while the deck is open and an upper platform is emerging. He is very impressed by seeing such a cool duel stage. It's the duel platform for Kaiba and Yakou. Seeing Willa, Kaiba asks whether he is still around here. He is very furious to see these people trampling on his building.

Yakou notes that the project is very close to be complete, and Kaiba can't oppose the rule of power. Namely, Kaiba no has no power to stop this project. Kaiba certainly gets mad and doubts whether Tenma is insulting him that he will be defeated. If Yakou is very proud of devil gods that he has obtained, Kaiba really wants to see that kind of level possessing the gods. He is serious to make Yakou's gods prostrate at his feet. Yakou doesn't counter at all but just smiles. He seems very confident to the power of his devil gods. Kaiba says that he will make Yakou's project become waste and declares to begin the duel.

The first turn is with Kaiba. Drawing a card, he sets up a face-down card and summons [Material Bat - 4/1200/1700] onto the field in defense position. Then, he ends his turn. Yakou doesn't make any comment but just smiles. When he enters his turn, he draws a card, sets up two face-down cards, and ends his turn quickly. Kaiba's very surprised by that Yakou didn't summon any monster but declared to end the turn. Even Willa wonders whether Yakou has trouble with cards on his hand. Kaiba thinks that it should be either the real trouble on Yakou's cards on hand or a trap that Yakou lures him to enter.

The turn comes back to Kaiba. Drawing a card, he summons [Material Lion - 4/1800/1500] onto the field in attack position. Although it's the trap, Kaiba is afraid. He declares the attack of Material Lion against Yakou directly. Surprisingly, Yakou has no response and receives the hit strongly. His LP decreases to 2200 (4000-1800). Kaiba becomes very stunned by that Yakou even didn't protect himself but received the direct damages. He didn't see Yakou activate any counter trap, either. Thus, Kaiba doubts whether Yakou's reversed cards are merely bluff without any meaning. Yakou doesn't give any answer but smiles. Setting up a face-down card, Kaiba ends his turn.

The turn is with Yakou. Kaiba hopes to see Yakou's strategy by coming play. However, he becomes surprised again when he sees Yakou set up another face-down and end the turn with doing nothing else. Willa wonders whether Yakou doesn't summon any monster because he is playing trap-magic strategy. In Willa's thought, it should be such a tough strategy since normally the attack on hand will be weakened and he has to think what kind of effect Kaiba has.

Kaiba is thinking whether Yakou actually is playing trap-magic strategy with him. Now, it's too fast to play his key card. He looks at it on his hand, and it is Blue Eyes White Dragon. Kaiba plans to end everything in this turn while declaring his turn and drawing a card. He then summons [Material Scorpion - 4/1500/1600] onto the field in attack position. There are three Material monsters on the field. Kaiba explains that they can combine into one Chimera. Yakou looks a bit surprised before realizing that this is called Automatic Union monster.

Three Material monsters then combine together into the legendary beast, [Mosaic Manticore - ?/2800/2500: Leave two out of the three fusion-material monsters when this monster is destroyed]. At this moment, Kaiba is getting amazed by seeing another Mosaic Manticore standing on Yakou's field. Yakou is now opening a trap card [Chronic Dejavu - Trap: Activate this card when the opponent summons a monster. Create exact clones of all opponent's monsters onto your side of the field. When this card is activated, your field must not have any monster]. This card allows Yakou to copy the same monster on Kaiba's field onto his field. Kaiba sees that if he lets his Mosaic Manticore strikes, Mosaic Manticore of Yakou will also counter at the same time. This attack will become useless.

Anyway, Kaiba later laughs and asks whether Yakou really thinks that the temporizing strategy like this can be working with him. He then opens his face-down trap card [Alpha Wave Radiation ~ Alpha Ha No Housan - Virus Field: Decrease the attack points of all monsters on the field by 300. The monsters can't attack]. This virus field is reducing all monsters on the field by 300 points, so the attack points of Decrease the attack points of Mosaic Manticore become 2500 (2800-2500).

Yakou asks whether Kaiba's Mosaic Manticore also gets the same influence. Kaiba just smiles before playing [Vaccine Inoculation ~ Wakuchin No Sesshu - Equipment Magic: Equip this card to a monster on the field. The equipped monster can negate the virus effect to that monster or the new monster if the equipped monster is sacrificed] with Mosaic Manticore. This card can protect Kaiba's Mosaic Manticore from the virus effect, so his Mosaic Manticore still has full 2800 attack points.

Kaiba declares the attack of Mosaic Manticore to destroy cloned Mosaic Manticore on Yakou's field. Yakou's LP then decreases to 1900 (2200+2500-2800). Kaiba tells Yakou not to be worried. According to the special effect of Mosaic Manticore, when it's destroyed, it can leave two Material monsters onto the field. Thus, Material Bat and Material Lion remain on Yakou's field. Kaiba explains that if Yakou can summon another Material monster, he may be able to do automatic union to summon a Chimera monster as Kaiba did previously. However, Kaiba is afraid that Yakou shouldn't have that type of monster in his deck. He then urges Yakou to draw a card quickly.

It's now Yakou's turn. Drawing a card, he sacrifices Material Bat and Material Lion on his field to summon [Belial, Marquis of Darkness ~ Yami no Koushaku Belial - 7/2800/2400: Negate the attack of monsters with fewer than 7 stars] onto the field in attack position. The special effect of this monster can negate all strikes from the monsters with fewer than 7 stars. That means Kaiba's Mosaic Manticore can't attack his monster. In addition to the effect of Alpha Wave Radiation, the attack points of Belial, Marquis of Darkness decrease to 2500 (2800-2500). Here's supposed to be the end of Yakou's turn.

Seeing Yakou's play, Kaiba has realized the duelist level of Yakou pretty well. He says angrily whether Yakou really thinks that such a claptrap plan like this will be able to beat him. Moving into his turn quickly, Kaiba draws a card and finally gets a trump card for this conquest into his hand. He defuses Mosaic Manticore into Material Lion, Material Bat, and Material Scorpion, sacrificing Material Bat and Material Scorpion to summon [Blue Eyes White Dragon - 8/3000/2500] onto the field in attack position.

Blue Eyes White Dragon is also equipped by Vaccine Inoculation attached to its tribute, Mosaic Manticore. Thus, it can't be affected by virus effect or Alpha Wave Rediation. Kaiba declares the intense attack of Blue Eyes White Dragon to destroy Belial, Marquis of Darkness. Yakou is blown away as his LP decreases to 1400 (1900+2500-3000). Kaiba tells Yakou madly that Yakou doesn't have competency to hold the gods. Thus, he should leave the gods and go away.

Note: The concept of [automatic union] of Kaiba's monsters is similar to [contact union] (The union between E-Hero and N-Spacian) of Judai in GX anime. It's the union type that doesn't require Polymerization. You just satisfy some conditions to summon a union monster. The effect of Mosaic Manticore isn't expressed totally in manga. However, we can assume that this Chimera monster without Polymerization can be special summoned from your deck (perhaps, hand or cemetery) only if you send three Material monsters on the field to your deck (perhaps cemetery). Also, it can be sent back to your deck (perhaps, hand or cemetery) to return those three Material monsters onto the field without De-Fusion.
