Summary

Turn back to the childhood period of Yakou and Gekkou. Pegasus was much impressed by Gekkou's duel skill and admired that he could reach the title of Perfect Duelist. Gekkou looked glad by the compliment without notice that Yakou was behind and looking at him with jealous eyes.

At Kaiba Corporation, the duel between Gekkou and Tedd is continued. It's now Tedd's turn. He has a card face-down on his field. Summoning [Spike Rhinoceros - 4/1800/1600] in an attack position, he ends his turn. The game has just started, so both sides still have full 4000 LP. Meanwhile, little Yugi is watching the game with concern. He knows that Gekkou is now fighting to stop his brother's evil plan, so he hopes Gekkou will do well and not lose this duel.

Turn comes to Gekkou. He plays a magic card [Graceful Charity ~ Tenshi No Hodokoshi - Magic: Draw 3 cards from your Deck, then discard any 2 cards in your hand to the Graveyard] form his hand. Thus, he has to discard 2 cards of 3 that he can draw. Anzu and little Yugi are surprised by that Gekkou may not have any monster on his hand at this point. Even Tedd starts laughing at Gekkou, thinking that he should have such a bad hand. He hopes Gekkou will get good cards on hand while Gekkou goes on his play calmly.

Then, Gekkou summons Learning Elf in a defense position [Learning Elf - 3/1400/1500: When this card is sent into the cemetery, draw a card]. Setting up two face-down cards, he ends his turn. Tedd again laughs at Gekkou's play. He turns to ask Keith whether Gekkou was a child whom Pegasus expected for. Keith confirms by saying that Pegasus thought Gekkou seemed to be a perfect duelist. Of course, Tedd doesn't seem to believe it.

It is now Tedd's turn. He draws a card and sets up a reverse card. Then, he summons [Speed Jaguar - 4/1000/800: Double the damages to your opponent when you attack] in an attack position. Tedd is wondering what kind of strategies a perfect duelist can do. He plans to show it while declaring his battle phase. At this moment, Gekkou opens his reverse trap card [Mirror Barrier - Equipment Trap: This card can be activated only if your opponent declares the attack. Barrier encases a monster and reflects the attack against it for three turns]. Thus, the barrier appears to protect Learning Elf. At the same time, Tedd opens a counter magic card [Hand to Hand Combat ~ Nikudan Sentou - Counter Magic: All magic and trap cards activated in this turn become invalid]. Since this card has an ability to deactivate all trap/magic cards played in this turn, including Mirror Barrier of Gekkou, Gekkou finally loses his protection. Tedd's Spike Rhinoceros destroys Learning Elf while Speed Jaguar attacks Gekkou directly. Due to Speed Jaguar's special effect, Gekkou has to receive the double damages. His LP reduces significantly to 2000 (4000-1000*2).

Tedd is still laughing at Gekkou as Gekkou still continues his turn calmly. According to the special effect of Learning Elf, Gekkou can draw a card when it is sent into the cemetery. Tedd guesses that the card may become a defending card later, ending his turn.

Turn comes back to Gekkou. Repeatedly, he plays Graceful Charity from his hand again. All people get surprised by now. Tedd asks what Gekkou is doing since he seems to throw his cards into the cemetery uselessly. Little Yugi is curious as well. He thinks whether Gekkou really has bad cards on hand or he is planning for something. Meanwhile, Keith turns to ask little Yugi whether he thinks Gekkou's really gonna win. He may intend to lose on purpose to help the project of his younger brother, Yakou. Keith reminds everybody that he has to resign if Gekkou loses this game. Setting up two more reverse cards, Gekkou summons [Thoroughbred Elf - 4/1800/1500] in an attack mode. Then, he opens one of his reverse card and equips it with Thoroughbred Elf. It's the magic card [Spirit Slayer - Equipment Magic: Decrease the target monster's attack points by 500. Increase the equipped monster's attack points by 500]. As a result, Thoroughbred Elf's attack points become 2300 (1800+500).

Gekkou once declares the attack of Thoroughbred Elf against Speed Jaguar. Suddenly, Tedd activates his face-down magic card [Curse of Darkness ~ Yami No Jyubbaku - Magic: Select the attacking monster and seal its attack. Decrease its attack points by 700]. By this ability, Gekkou's attack is sealed. Keith confirms little Yugi again that the situation is very obvious, asking whether he still believes in Gekkou. Little Yugi tells Keith that it's useless to distract him. He has already decided from the beginning whom he would trust.

Next turn comes to Tedd. He is sure that this turn will be the end. Drawing a card, he sacrifices Speed Jaguar and Spike Rhinoceros at the same time he activates a magic card, Medicine Eater, from his hand [Medicine Eater ~ Yakugui - Magic: Activate this card when you are doing a sacrifice summon. Half of attack and defense points and any special effect of the tributes are added to the summoned monster. In case there is more than one tribute, you must choose 1]. Then, [Assault Lion - 7/2600/2500] appears on the field and holds Speed Jaguar and Spike Rhinoceros in its hand. Tedd decides to let it absorb the power of Speed Jaguar; however, both monsters are used for the sacrifice summon of the 7-star monster. Eating Speed Jaguar, Assault Lion's attack and defense points become 3100 (2600 + 1000/2) and 2900 (2500 + 800/2) respectively. It also inherits the special ability of Speed Jaguar to deal double damages to the opponent.

Tedd declares the attack of Assault Lion against Thoroughbred Elf (1600 ATK) immediately. At this moment, Gekkou opens his face-down trap card [Amulet of Kindness ~ Jiai No Amulet - Equipment Trap: Equip this card to a monster on the field. Any excessive damage you get from the equipped monster is reduced to 0]. He certainly equips it with Thoroughbred Elf, so his damage is reduced to 0 when his monster is destroyed. Little Yugi feels so glad that Gekkou could survice this turn by 0 damage. However, he is still worried by whether Gekkou will be able to defeat such a strong Assault Lion. Tedd ends the turn at this moment.

Turn comes to Gekkou again. Tedd thinks that it doesn't matter whether Yakou is gonna summon a monster in a defense position. His reverse card is [Stop Defense ~ Shubi Fuuji - Trap/Magic card: Select one of your opponent's monsters and switch it to attack position. If the card is face down, flip it face up. If the card has a flip effect, it is activated immediately]. By this card, Gekkou's monster is forced to change into an attack position. Thus, he no longer has any way to escape. Then, Gekkou becomes quiet until Tedd asks him whether he isn't going to summon a monster. Gekkou still stays clam and says that he has no monster on his hand now. Anzu and little Yugi are surely shocked while Tedd is laughing by such a bad hand.
