|
In
the forest are Judai and Sho carrying many duel disks. Judai
starts complaining and doesn't stand why he has to do this
kind of work. He notices Sho look unlively as usual, asking
whether there is something wrong. Sho begins the story and
talks about the bridge built upon small river in the forest.
Judai responds that he knows it. Sho says that there is
recently a mysterious guy appearing and dueling against
people at the bridge. Meanwhile, Judai reminds himself of
Kohara and Ohara [ Goblin
Duel in episode 16 ], who previously challenged
people around in the forest. He thinks his imagination may
be merely deja vu. Sho further says that if anyone is defeated,
his duel disk will be taken. Judai thinks that the current
situation seems similar to Kohara and Ohara case. Sho argues
that the past bet was rare cards, but this time bet is duel
disks. 99 duel disks have been taken by now. Judai feels
that the guy looks like [Benkei],
a legendary Japanese warrior who collects 999 swords from
999 swordholders passing him at the bridge. Sho starts looking
at his carried duel disks and getting worried while Judai
becomes excited. He urges Sho to hurry up and catch up Benkei
at the bridge. Sho has no choice but follows Judai quickly.

Benkei
VS Yoshitsune
Kenzan VS Judai |
Note: According
to the true Japanese story, Benkei collects 999 swords
from swordmen passing his weapon at Goyo Bridge. However,
he is defeated in the 1000th duel against Minamoto
Yoshitsune, who has the sword training from a mythological
Japanese creature Tengu. >>read
more
In anime, the story is slightly adjusted. Kenzan
represents Benkei who collects the duel disks up to
99. Duel disk is like a sword of a duelist. On the
other side, Judai represents Minamoto Yoshitsune who
beats Benkei at the 100th duel. In addition, this
duel has been determined in advance that Judai can
defeat Kenzan according to Benkei legend. However,
Benkei has nothing to deal with this dinosaur type
except for that he has the same big body. |
Sho
and Judai have finally arrived the bridge at the river,
seeing a big Ra Yellow guy standing there with many duel
disks in the bags beside him. Sho becomes amazed, saying
that [Musashibo Benkei], the
full name of Benkei, has finally appeared. The Ra Yellow
guy just challenges them to find the conclusion into the
duel. Judai looks happy and accepts the challenge quickly.
The Ra Yellow guy looks confused by Judai's active act and
quick response, asking for the first step of the proper
introduction. Judai seemingly doesn't care since he has
already realized that the Ra Yellow guy is Benkei. The Ra
Yellow guy argues and intruduces himself correctly as the
first-year student [Tyranno Kenzan].
Anyway, Judai still changes his name to Benkei style [Ichinenbo
Benkei or First-Year Bo Benkei]. Kenzan gets annoyed
and tries to argue again. His gang then appears and agrees
to take noisy Judai down. Sho becomes surprised what this
gang is. The gang introduces themselves as [Tyranno
Group ~ Tyranno Dan], the leading group with the
image of Tyranno and great reputation. Sho seems annoyed
by their arrogance. However, Judai doesn't care, rushing
him to duel quickly. Kenzan says that he can't start yet
until Judai introduces himself in return. Judai has just
realized that he should respond the opponent by proper greeting
as well, introducing himself by his fullname, Yugi Judai.
Then, he repeats his words to begin the duel quickly. Kenzan
gang seems surprised after hearing his name. Kenzan calls
him as [Charisma of Duel Academy ~
Duel Academy No Charisma]. Sho doesn't have the long
words to speak but claims that here is his great Big Brother.
His spirit seems so strong and burns out until Kenzan gang
can feel it. Even Judai doesn't know how to stop Sho now.
The gang turns back to his leader and tries to convince
him. They think that this is a good chance to defeat Judai
and takes his title of school to the gang. Kenzan gets his
spirit burning and challenges Judai to come in. Sho accepts
his challenge bravely for his Big Brother. Anyway, Judai
is amazed by Sho's active act since he ooked very scared
previously.
People move onto the bridge to cheer their Big Brothers.
Sho says that Judai must not hesitate or take it easy although
Kenzan is a freshman. Kenzan gang counts on their Big Brother,
saying that the opponent is merely a Red. Sho tells them
to stop calling the same word, Big Brother. The gang seems
not to listen and keeps on calling Kenzan by this word.
Kenzan then draws Judai's attention back to the game while
Judai calls Kenzan as "Ichinenbo
Benkei" to start the duel. Kenzan gets mad by
this name and tries to correct his name as "Tyranno
Kenzan". Then, the duel
between both of them begins.
First turn comes to Judai. He draws a card, summons E-Hero
Wildman in a defense position, and ends his turn quickly
[E-Hero Wildman - 4/1500/1600:This
Monster cannot be effected by Trap cards]. Just the
first turn, Sho cheers Judai out loud over the gang, "Big
Brother! Awesome!". Kenzan gang can't stand
looking like losers, so they start waving the dino-flag
and hitting a drum to cheer Kenzan by the same word "Big
Brother! Awesome!". Sho becomes so annoyed that
he has to close his ears.
|
Dark Driceratops
Monster Card |
It's now Kenzan's turn. Drawing a card, he special summons
Gilasaurus in an attack position [Gilasaurus
~ Shunsoku No Gilasaurus - 3/1400/400: You can Normal Summon
this card and treat it as a Special Summon. If you Special
Summon this Monster by this effect, your opponent can Special
Summon 1 Monster from their Cemetery]. Sho is wondering
what it means by the special summon. Kenzan explains that
the summon of this monster is treated as a regular summon.
Judai realizes that Kenzan means another monster can be
normal summon in this turn. Giving Gilasaurus as a tribute,
Kenzan summons Dark Driceratops in an attack position [Dark
Driceratops - 6/2400/1500: When this card attacks a Monster
in defense mode with a lower defense strength than this
Monster's attack strength, do Battle Damage to your opponent
equal to the difference]. Judai looks very impressed
by that the great monster with 2400 attack points can be
summoned in the first turn. However, Sho is unpleased with
Judai's impression towards the rival.
Kenzan
declares the attack of Dark Driceratops against E-Hero Wildman.
After it destroys E-Hero Wildman and flies pass, it returns
to attack Judai directly from his back. Judai falls down
while his LP decreases to 3200 (4000+1600-2400). Sho doesn't
understand why Judai's LP went down despite the fact that
E-Hero Wildman was destroyed in the defense position. Thus,
no damage should have been done. Kenzan clarifies the special
ability of Dark Driceratops that when it attacks a monster
in a defense position with lower defense points than its
attack points, battle damage equal to the differences can
deal directly to the opponent's life points. Kenzan then
ends his turn. Kenzan gang later keeps on cheering until
Sho has to tell them to stop. He doesn't want to lose, telling
Judai not to lose the game.
Next is Judai's turn. He draws a card and gets E-Hero Featherman.
Looking another cards on his hand (Monster Reincarnation,
E-Hero Necro Darkman, E-Hero Edgeman, Insurance, and De-Fusion),
he decides to plays the magic card [Monster
Reincarnation ~ Shisha Tensei - Magic: Discard 1 card from
your hand. Place 1 Monster from your Cemetery into your
hand]. He sends E-Hero Necro Darkman into his cemetery
to play this card and to get back a monster from the graveyard.
Kenzan expects that Judai aims to get back E-Hero Wildman.
However, Judai claims that his real purpose is to activate
the special ability of E-Hero Necro Darkman after it's sent
into the graveyard [E-Hero Darkman
- 5/1600/1800: While this card is in your graveyard, you
mayspecial summon a monster with E-HERO
in it's name without any scariface for tribute. This effect
can only be done once while this card is in the graveyard].
He can special summon E-Hero Edgeman from his hand onto
the field without any tribute [E-Hero
Edgeman - 7/2600/1800: If this Monster attacks a Monster
in defense mode with lower defense strength than this Monsters
attack strength, do Battle Damage to your opponent equal
to the difference]. Judai lets E-Hero Edgeman destroy
Dark Driceratops, so Kenzan's LP reduces to 3800 (4000+2400-2600).
Sho calls out again "Big Brother!
Awesome!", turning back to Kenzan gang and asking
how cool his Big Brother is. Kenzan gang looks so amazed,
so does Kenzan. He thinks that Judai is really glaring.
The gang starts saying "Don't
Mind! Don't Mind Kenzan!" to encourage him.
Kenzan looks at his friends and tries to release his worry.
He consoles himself not to care of it while reminding himself
of his past before entering Duel Academy. Actually, he strongly
expected that he should have entered Obelisk Blue while
ending with Ra Yellow. He certainly feels unpleased. Anyway
in Ra Yellow, there are many friends who are around him
and admire him as Big Brother. In order to polish his charisma
skill for his friends, he has to stand up on the bridge
and challenge people. Then, Yuki Judai, who is the real
Charisma of Duel Academy, appears. This seems to threaten
Kenzan's title. Kenzan keeps on telling his story and seems
to forget that he is talking out loud. Everybody hears everything
he has said. Sho claims that he understands the worry of
him. Kenzan gets embrarassesd after knowing that people
are listening. Judai says that Kenzan is such a funny guy.
 |
" That's right. Don't
mind Kenzan. I am not the guy who wears the uniform
with unclear color. I first stumbled here...I
wasn't aware of anything. Although I pass the
exam with good scores...the student who should
enter the high section of the admission exam doesn't
enter Obelisk Blue. I who have high confidence
in duel...why...in Ra Yellow!? However, around
me are people who adore me. I am always their
Big Brother by nature. Even in Ra Yellow, this
can't be hidden. |

Jurassic
World
Field Magic Card |
The duel is back to Kenzan's turn. Drawing a card, he sees
that he has finally got his expected card. Thus, he plays
it a once, the field magic [Jurassic
World - Field Magic: Increase the attack strength and defense
strength of all Dinosaur and Bird Sub-Type Monsters by 300.
When a Dinosaur or Bird Sub-Type Monster battles, they will
not be affected by the effects of Trap cards. When your
opponent attacks a Dinosaur or Bird Sub-Type Monster you
control in attack mode, the attacked Monster is switched
to defense mode]. The battlefield is then changed
into Jurassic park theme. Kenzan explains various abilities
of it (please look at my previous highlight) until Sho gets
amazed by such a potential field magic card. After that,
he summons Archaeopteryx onto the field in an attack mode
[Archaeopteryx - 3/300/1300: This
Monster can attack the opposing player's Life Points directly].
Its attack points go up to 600 (300+300) due to the effect
of Jurassic World. Sho thinks that 600 attack points shouldn't
be the problem anyway. Kenzan argues that he actually aims
to the special ability of his monster that can attack an
opponent directly. Thus, he declares the attack of Archaeopteryx
against Judai directly. |

After Judai gets the direct attack from Archaeopteryx,
his LP decreases to 2600 (3200-600). Kenzan sets up a face-down
card and ends his turn. He asks how his offense and defese
are. Then, he turns to see his gang and wonders why they
become less active and quiet than before. A guy claims that
whenever Kenzan activates Jurassic World, he always wins.
Another friend tells him not to be worried while another
starts yawning. Kenzan seems confused by his friends' attitute
that doesn't look excited as before.

Amber Pit
Trap
Kohaku No Otoshi Ana
Permanent Trap Card |
Judai declares his turn while saying that Kenzan is really
interesting. Drawing a card, he summons E-Hero Wildman in
an attack position [E-Hero Wildman
- 4/1500/1600: This Monster cannot be effected by Trap cards].
Seeing Judai's monster, Kenzan friend asks Sho whether Judai
looks really like a strong guy. Sho convinces him since
his Big Brother is always great and is going to show his
strike. Kenzan's gang seems so interested that Kenzan feels
unpleased with their turning act. Judai then declares the
attack of E-Hero Edgeman against Archaeopteryx. At this
moment, Kenzan opens his permanent trap [Amber
Pit Trap ~ Kohaku No Otoshi Ana - Permanent Trap: Activate
this card when your opponent attacks. Negate that Monster's
attack and switch it to defense mode, the battling Monster
cannot switch its modes]. This card can negate the
attack of E-Hero Edgeman and then turns it into a defense
position. Anyway, Judai still has E-Hero Wildman left. He
lets it attack Archaeopteryx again. Kenzan, meanwhile, declares
the effect of Jurassic World, that can change his bird-type
monster, Archaeopteryx, into the defense position. Sho later
claims that E-Hero Wildman's attack points are still over
Archaeopteryx's defense points (1300). Kenzan repeats the
effect of Jurassic World that it can also increase the defense
points of his bird-type monster by 300 points. As a result,
Archaeopteryx's defense points become 1600 (1300+300), which
is high enough to counter E-Hero Wildman's effect. Because
E-Hero Wildman's attack is countered, Judai's LP reduces
to 2500 (2600+1500-1600). Setting two face-down cards, Judai
ends his turn.

Ultra Evolution
Pill - Revised Formula
Jyooshinka Yaku - Kai
Magic Card |
Although Judai misses in this turn, he laughs and seemingly
enjoys the duel as usual. Kenzan gang looks amazed by that
Judai can still laugh in such a situation. Sho really understands
Judai and thinks that this is what he usually is. People
start enjoying with Sho. Kenzan seems to get mad when he
sees his friends turning their side. His emotion becomes
stronger before keeping on this turn. Drawing a card, he
plays a magic card from his hand [Earthquake
- Magic: Change the mode of all face-up Monsters on the
Field to defense mode]. This card changes E-Hero
Wildman into a defense position. Then, Kenzan plays another
magic card [Ultra Evolution Pill Revised
Formula ~ Choushinkayaku Kai - Magic: Sacrifice 1 Bird Sub-Type
Monster on your Field in order to Special Summon 1 Dinosaur
Sub-Type Monster from your hand]. This card allows
him to sacrifice the bird-type monster on his field, Archaeopteryx,
to summon Dark Tyranno specially onto the field [Dark
Tyranno - 7/2600: If the only cards your opponent has in
their Monster Card Zone are Monsters in defense mode, this
card can attack your opponent directly]. Its attack
points go up to 2900 (2600+300) following Jurassic World's
effect.
Kenzan says that Dark Tyranno can attack Judai directly
in case Judai doesn't have any monster in an attack position.
This explains why Kenzan activates Earthquake to change
all Judai's monsters into the defense position. People look
worried by the game. Judai has only 2500 LP left. He will
be lost if attacked by Dark Tyranno with 2900 attack points.
Kenzan then declares the attack of Dark Tyranno and feels
very convinced that he will win. However, he gets amazed
when he sees Judai still survive with 100 LP left. Judai
explains that he has opened his face-down trap card [Insurance
- Trap: Return 1 Magic or Trap card set on the Field into
your hand. If this card is returned from your Field to your
hand, increase your Life Points by 500.]. This card
allows him to send back a face-down trap or magic card onto
his hand. Also, when Insurance is sent back to his hand,
his LP can be increased by 1000 points. That explains that
Judai's LP had become 2900 (2500+500) when attacked by Dark
Tyranno. Thus, he survived by 100 LP (3000-2900) after the
strike. However, Kenzan argues that if Insurance is actually
returned to Judai's hand, he wonders why it is still displayed
on the field. Judai says that the card sent back to his
hand is also Insurance. That means he placed two Insurance
in the previous turn. In this turn, he activates one Insurance
to send another Insurance onto his hand to gain 1000 LP.
Sho and Kenzan gang look very impressed by Judai's smart
play. Kenzan has to accept that and ends the turn.
He feels upset and starts sitting down, realizing that
the situation like this always happens. His friends are
usually separate from him. Kenzan reminds himself of his
previous memory when he and his gang had to face such a
big rival gang. His friends became so scared that they retrieved.
Thus, Kenzan had to resign as well. It doesn't matter if
he becomes a leader. There is no meaning for him to winning
like this, which everybody isn't by his side. Judai thinks
that the victory hasn't been determined yet. Kenzan raises
up and asks what else Judai can do with his little LP. Judai
says that next is his turn. The draw may be able to change
something, and that makes him feel very excited. Sho and
Kenzan gang agree with Judai that they become excited as
well. Kenzan looks amazed by Judai's word while getting
up.
In final turn of Judai, he draws a card and get Pot of
Greed. He plays it to draw additional two cards. Then, he
plays the field magic [Skyscraper
~ Field Magic: Increase the attack strength of all Monsters
on the Field with E-HERO in
their name by 1000 points when Battling a Monster with higher
attack strength]. Judai explains that the world is
evolved while the battlefield starts changing from Jurassice
world to icy era and finally to modern city. Kenzan realizes
that something is happening, beginning to get excited.
|
E-Hero Wildwingman
Monster Card |
Since Jurassic World is gone, Dark Tyranno's attack points
decrease to its original base points, 2600 (2900-300). Kenzan
now feels very excited rather than worried. Judai then plays
Polymerization from his hand to fuse E-Hero Featherman on
his hand with E-Hero Wildman on the field into [E-Hero
Wildwingman - 8/1900: This Monster can only be Special Summoned
by Fusion Summoning. Discard 1 card from your hand in order
to destroy 1 Magic or Trap card on the Field. This effect
can only be used once during your turn's Main Phase].
He plays its special effect at once. Discarding a card from
his hand, Insurance which he has just got it back to his
hand previously, he can destroy Amber Pit Trap of Kenzan.
Without this trap, Kenzan can no longer negate the attack
of Judai's monsters. Also, E-Hero Edgeman is released from
the position seal, turning back to the attack position.
Sho and Kenzan Gang, meanwhile, all cheer Judai by his great
performance. According to the effect of Skycraper, when
Dark Tyranno's attack points are 2600, E-Hero Wildwingman's
attack points can go up to 2900 (1900+1000).
Judai first declares the attack of E-Hero Wildwingman against
Dark Tyranno. When Dark Tyranno is destroyed, Kenzan's attack
points become 3500 (3800+2600-2900). After that, E-Hero
Edgeman attacks Kenzan directly, so his LP significantly
decreases to 900 (3500-2600). Kenzan claims that he still
has some LP left, so the game hasn't ended. He wonders what
Judai can do. Judai smirks and once plays his last magic
card [De-Fusion ~ Yuugou Kaijyo -
Instant Magic: Return 1 Fusion Monster Card on the Field
to its' owner's Fusion Deck. If all the Fusion-Material
Monsters for the returned Fusion Monster Card are in the
Graveyard, they can be Special Summoned to the Field at
this time]. He defuses E-Hero Wildwingman into E-Hero
Featherman and E-Hero Wildman. Judai lets E-Hero Featherman
attack Kenzan directly again. Kenzan looks very impressed
by the amazing play of Judai. He accepts Judai as a great
duelist and a Big Brother, saying "Here
is Judai Yuki Judai...no the duel of Big Brother Judai!".
Getting the last hit, Kenzan's LP becomes 0 (900-1000).
Kenzan tries to walk into Judai while forgetting that there
is the river between their sides. Therefore, he steps in
and finally falls into the water. Judai asks how he is.
Kenzan smiles and calls Judai as "Big
Brother, Judai!". Judai smiles and says his
favorite words "I won! What an
exciting duel!".
At
Osiris Red, while it is during the construction by Manjyome
Group, Manjyome has come to stay in Judai's room, which
is available after Hayato left. Sho doesn't understand why
Kenzan has to carry his belongings and stay in their room.
He says that Kenzan is the first grade student who should
stay in Ra Yellow. Manjyome also complains. He feels that
he has been confined in this small room, so there should
be no place for Kenzan here. Sho thinks that Manjyome is
also the same since he is sharing the room with them. Manjyome
tells them not to be worried. Manjyome room is during the
construction. By the way, Kenzan says that he has already
made a decision to stay with Big Brother Judai to improve
his charismatic skill. For this purpose, he has already
turned down Tyranno Group. Sho is unsatisfied when Kanzan
also calls Judai Big Brother. He tells Kenzan to stop saying
that since Judai is supposed to be only his Big Brother.
Manjyome smirks and says that Kenzan had better learn the
charismatic skill from him. However, Kenzan seems not to
listen, so Manjyome tells him to say something. Kenzan walks
in to talk to Judai directly. He hopes Judai will take care
him well from now on and is certain that he will improve
himself. Judai smiles and understands that he can't help
accepting Kenzan to stay by his side.

[ Saito Musashibo Benkei ]
He is one of the legendary famous Japanese warriors. His
well-known name is "Benkei".
His legend is also widespread performed in Japanese Kabuki
(Japanese Plays). Benkei has such big physical shape, strength,
and loyalty. Many people give him the attributes of a demon,
a monster child with wild hair and long teeth. In his youth
Benkei may have been called Oniwaka - the "devil's
child".
Benkei is said to have posted himself at Gojo Bridge in
Kyoto, where he deprived every swordholder who passed of
his weapon, eventually collecting 999 swords. On his 1000th
duel, Benkei was defeated by Minamoto Yoshitsune, a son
of the warlord Minamoto no Yoshitomo. Henceforth, he became
a retainer of Yoshitsune and fought with him in the Genpei
War against the Taira clan. Yoshitsune is credited with
most of the Minamoto clan's successes against the Taira,
especially the final naval battle of Dannoura. After their
ultimate triumph, however, Yoshitsune's elder brother Minamoto
Yoritomo, turned against him.
Undoubtedly, it is Benkei's loyalty and honour which makes
him most attractive in Japanese folklore. One Kabuki play
places Benkei in a moral dilemma between lying and protecting
his lord in order to cross a bridge. The critical moment
of the drama is its climax, where the monk realises his
situation and vows to do what he must.
