Duel Academy is now full of dark mist. Principle Sameshima is staying alone in his office. Principle Sameshima is now getting concerned by the situation. Because Chrono's and Kaiser's keys have already been taken, the gate is partially unsealed. At this moment, a mysterious shadow appears on a screen. He says that the principle looks disappointed and depressed, telling him to give up and hand over all of the remaining keys. Principle Sameshima refuses to do so and says that the duel hasn't been finished yet. At the end, there is usually a largely reversal combo. The mysterious guy tells him that he won't guranantee what is going on next; people may become the victims of Vampire. Then he disappears.

In the medical room, Judai is still sleeping, but he seems not to sleep well at all. Asuka looks at Judai and also thinks of Ryo. Although she gets her brother back, Ryo is gone away by the shadow duel instead. Suddenly, the half-ancient item of Fubuki starts glowing as he is trying to move his hand and opening his eyes. Asuka is very surprised what her brother is trying to do. On the other side, Manjyome and Misawa are standing at the lake. Sho and Hayato are trying to push Daitokuji teacher into the next round because he is supposed to know the shadow duel better than others. Daitokuji teacher certainly doesn't want to go, gets frightened, and tries to avoid his turn. Anyway, Manjyome and Misawa are arguing who is going be in the next duel. Then, Asuka interrupts people as she is arriving by a boat. She informs them that the next duelist has already been decided. Judai gets up from the boat and claims that he is going to be the next round. Of course, Sho thinks that Judai is gonna push himself too much, so does Manjyome. Manjyome thinks that this turn should belong to him. However, Misawa also wants to duel as well. Asuka understands people's feelings well, but she would like them to listen to this story. She turns to Judai and lets him say. Previously, Fubuki was trying to say something, so Asuka took his oxygen out. Fubuki told her that Carmilla was seemingly the most cruel duelist among the 7 stars. In order the break throught the shadow duel, the shadow item is neccessary. He said while holding his half-ancient item.

Although she doesn't know exactly what the shadow duel is, people can know it well from the previous duels. Manjyome agrees to what she said while looking at Chronos doll in his pocket. To be against the shadow duel, people have to use a shadow item. Thus, Asuka thinks that they should leave this duty on Judai. Judai also tells people to count on him this time because he is holding a shadow item, with another half-piece inheritted from Fubuki. When nobody argues, people begins to move into Carmilla's castle. Entering the gate, Judai yells out loudly to let Carmilla know that he's already come. Actually, Carmilla has waited for him. She is standing on the duel arena and greeting him for coming. She hopes to make Judai her next cute doll. Judai declares firmly that he will finally beat her. When both of them are ready, the duel between Judai and Carmilla begins quickly.

First turn comes to Judai. After drawing a card, Judai says that he won't forgive her for playing with the lives of his friends. The card that he gets is E-Hero Featherman. Carmilla doesn't feel worried at all. She is wondering what Judai can do if he can't forgive her. Then, Judai plays Polymerization to fuse E-Hero Featherman, E-Hero Bubbleman, and E-Hero Sparkman on his hand into E-Hero Tempester [E-Hero Tempester - 8/2800/2800: Send 1 card on your field into the Cemetery in battle in order to activate this effect. This Monster is protected from being destroyed once]. Sho is very impressed while people can notice that Judai is very serious from the beginning. Nevertheless, Asuka can't relax at all since Carmilla is still a shadow duelist. Everything can happen and Judai may not take it easy. Judai sets up a face-down card and ends his turn.

Carmilla can notice that Judai becomes very energetic. Drawing a card, she gets her key card, Phantom Gate, quickly. Undoubtedly, she activates it at once. Carmilla thinks that she doesn't have to introduce anything. People should realize its effect very well. When this card is activated, she will lose her soul for Phantom Gate if she is defeated in the game. However, Carmilla doesn't get worried since she is planning to use the souls of Judai's friends as he did with Sho before. Phantom Gate starts openning while Carmilla is looking around people. She is thinking of whom she should picks. Dark aura comes out from the Phantom Gate and surrounds the duel area. It makes people feel painful. Judai excuses Carmilla for her coward and dirty play again. Of course, Carmilla doesn't care. She can do anything to defeat him and make people become dolls. At this moment, Judai's ancient items clasp together and become a one piece. It starts glowing and getting rid of the dark aura. Asuka realizes that the power of the shadow item is breaking the shadow power of Carmilla. Due to this power, Misawa counts on Judai on this play.

The dark power is sealed back into the Phantom Gate. Judai feels thankful to Asuka's brother, Fubuki, who gave him this power. Judai tells Carmilla that her shadow power has already been destroyed, so she can no longer sacrifice his friends. Also, Carmilla has already activated Phantom Gate. Without using other sacrifices, she has to give her own soul for a tribute of Phantom Gate if she loses his game. Anyway, Carmilla thinks that everything will be fine if she still wins the game. She then activates the special effect of Phantom Gate to destroy all monsters on Judai's field. Therefore, his E-Hero Tempester is destroyed. According to another effect of Phantom Gate, which can summon specially a monster previously played without any summon condition, Camille can resummon E-Hero Tempester onto her field. After that, she normally summons Immortal Werewolf [Immortal Werewolf ~ Fushi No Werewolf - 4/1200/1200: If this card is destroyed in battle, search your deck for 1 of the same card and Special Summon it with its attack strength increased by 500]. Judai is currently facing against two monsters with 1200 and 2800 attack points. Misawa calculates that if these attack points hit Judai directly in this turn, he will be definitely finished. In other words, his LP will become 0 (4000-1200-2800). On the other side, Manjyome thinks that Judai is over trying to rush the duel until he gets this strike.

Cross Heart
Trap Card

Carmilla then declares the attack of E-Hero Tempester against Judai directly. Thus, Judai's LP reduces to 1200 (4000-2800). While Carmilla thinks that next should be the end, she notices E-Hero Tempester looking weird. Actually, Judai has been activating his trap card, Cross Heart, that can be played only if he is getting an attack. It allows him to gain control of the attacking monster, E-Hero Tempester [Cross Heart - Trap: You can only activate this card after recieving an opponent's attack. Gain control of the attacking Monster]. As a result, E-Hero Tempester returns to his side of the field. Carmilla ends her turn at this time. Manjyome notes that Judai could still survive. Professor Chronos doll says something that seems to agree to his view.

It is now Judai's turn. He lets E-Hero Tempester attack Immortal Werewolf. Therefore, Carmilla's LP decreases to 2400 (4000 + 1200 - 2800). Carmilla asks whether Judai has already forgotten the effect of her Immortal Werewolf. When destroyed, it can summon another Immortal Werewolf with 500 higher attack points from her deck. Thus, Immortal Werewolf with 1700 (1200 + 500) attack points are resummoned onto her field. Setting a face-down card, Judai ends his turn. Daitokuji teacher is uncertain by the situation because their LP are relatively close, 2400 (Carmilla) VS 1200 (Judai). Sho turns back to him and wonders why Daitokuji teacher seems to have some fun. Daitokuji teacher tries to excuse that he said nothing.

Although Judai could take back E-Hero Tempester, Carmilla still has her greatest servant. Drawing a card, she plays the magic card, Pot of Greed, to draw additional two cards. Those drawn cards are Vampire Genesis and Giant Trunade. Carmilla smiles and tells Judai that he hasn't realized the real dreadfulness and immortality of Vampire yet. After that, she sacrifices Immortal Werewolf to summon Vampire Lord. Continuously, she removes Vampire Lord from the game to summon Vampire Genesis specially onto the field in an attack position [Vampire Genesis - 8/3000/2100: This card can't be Normal Summoned. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing 1 Vampire Lord on your Field from the game. You can discard 1 Undead Sub-Type Monster from your hand to the Cemetery to Special Summon 1 Undead Sub-Type Monster from your Cemetery with Level less than the discarded Undead Sub-Type Monster. You can use this effect only 1 time per turn]. People've realized that this is the greatest monster with powerful effects of Carmilla.

Genesis Crisis
Magic Card

Carmilla then plays the magic card, Genesis Crisis, that allows her to place an undead-type monster from her deck into her hand once in a turn [Genesis Crisis - Permanent Magic: You can only activate this card if you have a Vampie Genesis face-up on your Field. Once per turn, you can place 1 Undead Sub-Type Monster from your deck into your hand. If that Vampire Genesis is removed from the Field, all of your Monsters on the Field are removed as well]. Thus, Carmilla takes Ryu Kokki from her deck. After that, she sends it to the graveyard to activate the special effect of Vampire Genesis that allows her to resummon an undead-type monster with less attack points than the discarded monster, Ryu Kokki (6/2400/2000), onto the filed. As a result, Immortal Werewolf, which has 1200 attack points that is less thatn Ryu Kokki's, is regenerated onto her field. Seeing a face-down card on Judai's field, Carmilla realizes that Judai intends to use it for the special effect of E-Hero Tempester. According to its effect, he can send the face-down card into the cemetery to protect itself from being destroyed. Of course, Carmilla can read his strategy, so she plays the magic card, Giant Trunade [Giant Trunade ~ Hurricane - Magic: Return all Magic and Trap cards on the Field to their owner's hands] to return all magic and trap cards of both sides onto their hands. In other words, Genesis Crisis of Carmilla is returned to her hand while the face-down card of Judai is returned to his hand.

People are all surprised by good preparation of Carmilla. Misawa thinks that she isn't merely a shadow duelist. Apparently, she has done the research on people's decks very well. Judai reminds himself of the duel of Carmilla against Professor Chronos. Perhaps, she had done the research on his deck before the duel as well. Carmilla reveals the truth that her bats have actually reported everything to her. She then laughes and tells him not to think that she is cruel because the battle usually starts before the real game.

summary - second period
episode 33 translated by Janime

Carmilla declares the attack of Vampire Genesis against E-Hero Tempester. Without any face-down cards, Judai is unable to activate the special effect of E-Hero Tempester. Manjyome considers the situation that Judai's LP is supposed to decrease by 200, or his LP should become 1000 (1200+2800-3000). Sho is getting more worried. If Judai is attacked again by Immortal Werewolf, he will finally be defeated (1000-1200=0). When Vampire Genesis finishes its attack, Carmilla continues the next attack of Immortal Werewolf against Judai directly.

Insurance
Trap Card

She thinks that this should be the end of the game, laughing very loudly. However, Carmilla then becomes surprised when she sees Judai's LP hasn't decreased at all. In other words, he hasn't become a doll yet. Judai laughs and smiles. He says his favorite words that this duel is fun, showing the card that protected him from the strike. It is the trap card, Insurance, that can increase his LP by 500 when it is sent back to his hand when faced down by the effect of a magic or trap card [Insurance - Trap: If this card is sent to your hand from the Field while face-down, by a Magic or Trap card effect, Increase your Life Points by 500]. Because Insurance was previously sent back to Judai's hand by Giant Trunade of Carmilla, this condition is satisfied. Judai hasn't been defeated yet because he still has 300 LP (1000 + 500 -1200) left.

Carmilla is getting annoyed by his play. Then, she activates Genesis Crisis from her hand, which was previously sent back to her hand by the effect of Giant Trunade as well, to get an undead-type monster from her deck onto her hand. Thus, she takes Despair From The Dark before ending her turn.

Now, it is Judai's turn. He apparently looks tired. People are getting worried about him and the current situation. Judai is wondering why Carmilla needs the shadow power. Although she didn't use it, she would be pretty strong. Thus, he doesn't understand why she has to depend on it. Carmilla tells him that winning the duel actually has no meaning for her. She then starts talking about her story. During the middle era of Europe was the most prosperous time of Vampire. Vampire families were highly proud of themselves and existed in a aloof social group. Nevertheless, humans considered them monsters and didn't allow their existance. As a result, the whole Vampire families collapsed while only Carmilla survived by the eternal sleep inside a casket. One day, a mysterious guy woke her up and guided her to use the shadow power to revive the Vampire families. That guy also gave her a shadow item, a necklace, and lent her the shadow power. Carmilla explains that she doesn't duel and collect dolls for fun while taking out Kaiser doll. Her main purpose is to use the souls of people in the dolls to revive the falling Vampire empire and then to revenge all human beings who destroyed the families.

Dark Factory Of Mass Production
Magic Card

Judai seems to be impressed by her attention. He is wondering whether this duel is going to judge the conclusion between Vampire and human beings. Her story is over what he has expected before. In order to accomplish her goal, Carmilla says that she has to win and defeat him. This explains why she doesn't care about the methods but only about the victory. However, Judai also has his own purpose to save his friends' souls. Therefore, he can't give up and be defeated, no matter what. He depends his opportunity on this draw. He draws a card and gets the magic card, Pot of Greed. At this moment, he has two cards left on his hand, Dark Factory Of Mass Production and Insurance (The effect of Insurance was activated previously when returned to his hand by the effect of Giant Trunade. Anyway, Judai hasn't played it again from his hand yet). Then, he plays Pot of Greed to draw additional two cards and gets Fusion Gate and E-Hero Burst Lady. After that, he plays the magic card, Dark Factory Of Mass Production, that allows him to return two monsters from his cemetery onto his hand [Dark Factory Of Mass Production ~ Yami No Ryousan Koujyoo - Magic: Place 2 Normal Monsters from your Cemetery into your hand]. As a result, E-Hero Featherman and E-Hero Sparkman are back to his hand.

E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman
Monster Card

Judai plays the field magic card, Fusion Gate, so that he doesn't need Polymerization to fuse his monsters [Fusion Gate - Field Magic: While this card is on the Field, the Fusion card is not needed to fuse monsters. Monsters being fused in this way are not put into the Cemetery, but removed from the game instead]. Certainly, he fuses E-Hero Burst Lady and E-Hero Featherman on his hand to E-Hero Flame Wingman. Continuously, he fuses E-Hero Flame Wingman on the field and E-Hero Sparkman on his hand to summon a new monster, E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman [E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman - 8/2500/2100: Increase this Monster's attack strength by 300 for each Monster with E-HERO in their name in your Cemetery. If this Monster destroys a Monster as a result of battle, do damage to your opponent equal to the attack strength of that Monster]. People is, of course, surprised by his new E-Hero monster with 2500 attack points.

Carmilla is also surprised since she hasn't seen this new card before by her bats. Judai realizes how well Carmilla can prepares when her bats sneak into people's decks. However, he thinks that it may make the duel boring. Actually, Judai has an idea to fight the shadow by the light. Thus, he decided shortly to put the light or shining card in this game. Anyway, Carmilla reminds him of the fact that his monster has only 2500 attack points, which aren't enough to stand her Vampire Genesis with 3000 attack points. Judai smiles and clearifies her that E-Hero Flare Wingman's special effect can increase its strength by 300 points for each E-Hero monster in the cemetery. There are two E-Hero monsters in his graveyard, E-Hero Bubble and E-Hero Tempester, so E-Hero Flare Wingman's attack pionts become 3100 (2500 + 2*300). Carmilla is getting more shocked as if she knows her destiny. Judai suddenly declares the attack of E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman against Vampire Genesis. He hopes this strike will make the shadow monsters and all Vampires become ash by the morning light. The ultimate light , Shining Shoot, is finally launched as Vampire Genesis is getting the direct hit and destroyed.

According to the effect of the field magic card, Genesis Crisis, when Vampire Genesis is sent to the graveyard, all monsters on the field are removed as well. That means Immortal Werewolf is also destroyed with Vampire Genesis as a result of Genesis Crisis' effect. Carmilla's LP reduces to 2300 (2400 + 3000 - 3100). Anyway, she asks Judai whether he has forgotten that her Vampires are immortal. Judai then declares another effect of E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman. When it destroys a monster in battle, it can deal damage equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster. Thus, Carmilla gets another strike directly by the attack points of her Vampire Genesis (3000). Her LP finally goes down to 0 (2400-3000). Judai then declares his victory but doesn't say his usual words that he enjoys the duel. He notices that Phantom Gate is appearing behind Carmilla. The gate is opened, and a hand comes out to take her soul inside. Carmilla then disappears as Professor Chronos and Ryou return to his human forms. People hurry to get into Ryou while Professor Chronos is holding Manjyome and not letting him go. Manjyome is getting annoyed and Professor Chronos him to leave him. The castle starts to collapse. Asuka tells Judai to run away quickly.

People can all leave the collapsing castle in time. The dark cloud disappears while the shining sun comes out. Fubuki gains his consciousness. Seeing the shining sun, he can guess that Judai might already win. On the other side, people are still at the lake with good weather as if nothing has happened before. Asuka thinks that everything was merely a nightmare. Misawa gives Carmilla's necklace to Judai. Judai realizes that it isn't a nightmare. She is a real vampire. More dreadful duels may be coming with new shadow duels...

to be continued...
