episode 18 translated by Janime

A day at Duel Academy, Judai is going to the school store, seeing a big crowd in front of it. He is getting excited, asking Misawa what is going on here. Then, he sees a Ra Yellow student dueling against someone. Misawa tells him that his name is [Kagurazaka], a student from Ra Yellow. In fact, Judai can get it from his color uniform, but he is getting surprised by that Kagurazaka's opponent is Sho. Thus, Judai asks Sho what he is doing. Sho points Judai to many posters with Mutou Yugi picture on the wall above the store. The posters promote the special exhibition of the duel king's deck at Duel Academy. Of course, Judai is very excited by the coming of Yugi's deck. He also feels so impressed that he doesn't hear what Sho is calling him.

Here at Duel Academy!

The Top Duel King
Mutou Yugi
Special Deck Exhibition!

Judai hardly believes that Yugi's deck is coming into display at this school. Talking about Mutou Yugi, everybody knows that he defeated Pegasus at Duelist Kingdom. Furthermore, he could beat Kaiba Seto and Malik at Battle City. Therefore, he is named as the legendary duelist. Although the three Egptian god cards seemingly aren't placed in this exhibition, the deck consists of Black Magician, Black Magician Girl, and other rare-side cards. By the way, although Judai understands what the exhibition means, he doesn't get what Sho is doing with Kagurazaka. Tome-San explains that she has the last ticket for the tomorrow morning tour. This duel will judge who will get it. Then, Judai is feeling unpleased with that Sho didn't tell him about this. Anyway, Sho tells him that he is trying to get the last ticket for Judai since he has already got one. Thus, Judai hopes Sho will do his best to win this duel for him.

Jetroid
Monster Card

Sho returns to the duel. Now, he has a monster [Jetroid] on filed while Kagurazaka has no monster but two reversed cards. Next turn comes to Kagurazaka. He plays [Big Storm - Ouarashi] that can destroy all magic and trap cards on the Field. Misawa tells Judai that Kagurazaka copies his deck from Professor Chronos's deck. In fact, the two reversed cards of Kaguarazaka are the trap cards [Statue of the Wicked-Ougon No Jyashin Sou]. By its effect, when this face-down card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, Kagurazaka can summon specially a [Wicked Token - Fiend/Dark/4/1000/1000] in an attack or defence position. There are two Statue of the Wicked, so two Wicked Tokens are summoned. After that, Kagurazaka sacrifices them to summon [Antique Gear Golum 8/3000/3000]. This reminds Judai of the same play that Professor Chronos did against him in the entrance exam [epsiode1]. Kagurazaka delcares the attack of Antique Gear Golum against Jetroid at once. At this moment, Sho activates the special ability of Jetroid. When this monster becomes a target, Sho can activate a trap card from his hand. As a result, Sho plays the trap card [Magic Cylinder] from his hand. According to its effect, the attack of a monster becomes invalid. Also, it deals damage to the opponent by the attack points of the attacking monster. Thereofre, the attack of Antique Gear Golum returns to Kagurazaka, and his LP becomes 0 (1000-3000).

Sho is very happy by his victory as Judai is very impressed by Sho's great performance. In fact, Sho remembered Judai's duel against Professor Chronos and kned that Kagurazaka is playing Professor Chronos's deck, so he realized well how to play the counter. Since Sho wins, he gets the ticket from Tome-San and gives it to Judai. Kagurazaka is getting embarassed by his defeat while his friends are leaving. Most people are looking down him, feeling disappointed by that Ra Yellow student was defeated by Osiris Red student. Only Misawa stays, trying to comfort Kagurazaka not to be worried about the defeat. However, Kagurazaka feels worse. He thinks that Misawa, who is practically in Obelisk Blue position, can't understand his feeling at all. Then, he runs away.

At that night at Ra Yellow dorm, Kagurazaka is complaining to himself in his room. He doesn't understand why he didn't win. In fact, he has done a lot of research of Mutou Yugi, Kaiba Seto, Professor Chronos and Kaiser Ryo; however, he was still defeated. He doesn't understand what he is missing or what is the difference. Then he sees a poster of Yugi's deck exhibition. Since he would like to know this answer, he thinks about trying with Yugi's deck.

At Osiris Red, Judai is holding and watching Hane Kuriboh card given from Mutou Yugi. Meanwhile, Sho is still getting happy by the today victory. Then, Sho notices Judai not listening, asking what he has been thinking. Judai asks whether Hayato and Sho would like to sneak out and see Yugi's deck tonight. Although the exhibition will be open tomorrow morning, it should have already been set up on the display by now. Therefore, Judai really wants to see it now. Hayato agrees with him since tomorrow there should be a big crowd. Of course, Sho knows very well that he can't oppose Judai anyway. Thus, everybody moves out from his room to see Yugi's deck tonight.

At Duel Academy, the exhibition has already been finished for tomorrow. Professor Chronos gets the room key from the guards, going to check Yugi's deck in the room. He is getting very shocked when he sees that the deck in the glass case has gone. Someone broke into the glass and stole it. Meanwhile, Judai, Hayato, and Sho are running to the display room, seeing Misawa during their way. Misawa seems to feel the same thing as Judai and the others. Everybody would like to see Yugi's deck tonight. Suddenly, they hear Professor Chronos's scream coming from the display room. When they enter into the room, they see that the deck has already gone, and the glass case is broken. Sho is wondering whether Professor Chronos did this to Yugi's deck. Professor Chronos looks very frightened and tries to refuse that. Anyway, Judai tells everybody to report this to the others. Suddenly, Professor Chronos jumps over and stops them, telling them that this due care will be his responsibility if the others know about this crime. However, the others understand that, so they would like to tell the principle as soon as possible. Professor Chronos starts crying, claiming that he really didn't do this. Judai tries to calm him down since everybody has realized that Professor Chronos isn't the thief. In fact, Professor Chronos didn't have to break through the glass case like that. Professor Chronos shows the key of the glass case to prove that he could get the deck anytime he wanted without breaking through it. Because there is no time left, Judai urges people to find the thief quickly. Of course, Professor Chronos much appreciates their help, leaving this work on their hands.

Misawa

Professor Chronos!

Judai

That display case!

Hayato

Deck of the King has gone!

Sho

Probably, Professor Chronos...!

Chronos

No No No!

Judai

Let's tell everybody now!

Chronos

Please wait!

Judai

What are you doing?

Chronos

If people know about this, I will have to take the responsibility.

Misawa

So, let's hurry!

Hayato

Yes, if the principle knows..

Chronos

No, it isn't like that. It isn't me!

Judai

We have known that very well.

Chronos

?

Judai

Prefessor didn't need to breack through the glass case, did you?

Chronos

That's right because I have the glass-case key here.

Judai

We still don't have enough time. Let's hurry to find the theif.

Chronos

Hum.....! Drop out boys! I leave this job on you, Singore!

Judai

Let's go, Sho! Hayato!

Misawa

I will also go with you.

On the other side of the island, Kagurazaka is very impressed by the legendary cards he just took out. Then, Sho finds him out. Good time for Kagurazaka. He is looking for someone to test his deck. Thus, he sends Sho another duel disk and challenges him for a duel. Sho accepts his challenge, and the duel between two of them begins.

Meanwhile, Hayato, Judai, and Misawa are finding nothing. They suddenly hear Sho's voice, so they follow his voice quickly. Sho was finally defeated by Kagurazaka. Kagurazaka thinks that he is very strong and powerful by this deck now. Then, everybody has arrived. Judai tells Kagurazaka to return Yugi's deck. Of course, Kagurazaka doesn't think to give it back. He has done much research on this type of deck, so he knows well how to use it effectively. By this powerful deck, he will no longer be defeated by anyone even Professor Chronos or Kaiser. Judai has realized that the negotiation means nothing. He tells Sho to give him his duel disk. If Kagurazaka claims that no one can beat him, he must duel against Judai. Also, , he has to return Yugi's deck if defeated. Kagurazaka is wondering whether or how Judai can beat him. Anyway, he accepts Judai's challenge. Preparing their duel disks, both of them start the duel.

First turn comes to Judai. Drawing a card, Judai summons [E-Hero Burst Lady 3/1200/800] in a defense position and ends his turn. Next, Kagurazaka draws a card and plays [Polymerization - Yuukou] to fuse [Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts - Genjyuuou Gazelle 4/1500/1200] with [Berfomet 5/1400/1800] into [Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast - Yuukoku Kenjyuu Chimera 6/2100/1800]. Kagurazaka declares the attack of Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast against E-Hero Burst Lady immediately. Meanwhile, people are all amazed by such a great monster with 2100 attack points summoned in the first turn.

summaried - second period
episode 18 translated by Janime

Hayato asks Sho about his previous duel against Kagurazaka. Perhaps, Sho may have some good advice for Judai. Sho is afraid that he may not be able to say anything since he was defeated very quickly only by Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast. Anyway, Hayato thinks that he may not need to get very worried about Judai since high-level tactics should be more important to a strong deck. Nevertheless, Misawa sees that the situation may not be easy like that. Generally, Kagurazaka has such a good memory. His deck is composed by the basis of other people's decks. Although he is usually defeated in games, he can remember the features and playing styles of his opponents' decks. Analyzing decks and reading personality of duelists creating the decks, he can come up with powerful tactics. As a result, since Kagurazaka is now holding the strongest deck, he is supposed to be an invincible duelist.

Turn comes to Judai. This time, he plays [Polymerization - Yuukou] to fuse [E-Hero Sparkman 4/1600/1400] with [E-Hero Clayman 4/800/2000] into [E-Hero Thunder Giant 6/2400/1500]. He later activates the special ability of E-Hero Thunder Giant. When this monster is summoned, a face-up monster with lower attack points on the opponent field can be destroyed. Therefore, Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast is first destroyed by the special effect. At this moment, Kagurazaka activates the special ability of Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast. When it is destroyed, Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts or Berfomet can be resummoned onto the field. Thus, Kagurazaka selects to resummon Berfomet in a defense mode. After that, Judai declares the normal attack of E-Hero Thunder Giant against Berfomet. Although Judai can destroy Berfomet, Kagurazaka doesn't get any damage. Judai is very impressed by Yugi's deck; it isn't easy for him to deal damage to the opponent. Then Judai ends his turn.

Next, Kagurazaka draws a card, setting up a reversed card. He then plays a magic card [Monster Reincarnation - Shisha Tensei]. According to its effect, discarding a card into his graveyard, Kagurazaka can get a monster from his graveyard back onto his hand. Thus, Kagurazaka decides to take Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts back to his hand and summons it onto the field in an attack position. After that, he plays a magic card [Sword of Revealing Light - Hikari No Gofuuken] to seal Judai's attack phase for three turns. In other words, Judai can't let his monsters attack for three turns.

Dark Renewal
Trap Card

Next move comes to Judai. He draws a card and summons [Dark Catapulter 4/700/1500] in a defense mode. Hayato sees what Judai is exactly planning for. Dark Catapulter has ability to destroy a magic card on the field in his next turn. That means the ability of Sword of Revealing Light will be negated in the next turn. Anyway, Kagurazaka takes his first chance. He has, in fact, waited for Judai to summon a monster. At this moment, Kagurazaka opens his reversed trap card [Dark Renewal - Kuromasoku Fukkatsu No Sunogi]. This card can be activated only if the opponent summons a monster. Sacrificing a monster on his field and the summoned monster, Kagurazaka can summon a spellcaster-type monster from his graveyard onto the field. Judai is wondering what type of spellcaster monster is in Kagurazaka's graveyard. As far as he remembers, Kagurazaka supposes to have only Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast and Berfomet in his cemetery. Thus, Kagurazaka guides Judai the only one chance that he could discard a card into his graveyard. Judai has just realized that Kagurazaka previously discarded a card into the cemetery due to the effect of Monster Reincarnation to take Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts onto his hand. Of course, he didn't expect that Kagurazaka discarded Dark Magician into the graveyard. As a whole, according to the ability of Dark Renewal, Kagurazaka sacrifices Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts on his field and Dark Catapulter on Judai's field to summon the spellcaster monster [Dark Magician 7/2500/2100] from his graveyard onto the field. Although Judai is facing Dark Magician, he is getting excited by the main monster or the symbol of Yugi's deck. Turning E-Hero Thunder Giant to a defense position, Judai ends his turn.

Turn to Kagurazaka's move. Drawing a card, he plays a magic card [Thousand Knives - Senbon Knives]. This card can be played only if Dark Magician is faced up onto the field. It can destroy a monster on the opponent's field. As a result, E-Hero Thunder Giant is destroyed by Thousand Knives. Sho is getting amazed by that E-Hero Thunder Giant could be destroyed shortly. At this point, Judai has no longer any wall monster, so Kagurazaka declares the attack of Dark Magician against Judai directly. Getting the great hit, Judai's LP decreases significantly to 1500 (4000-2500). Kagurazaka further says that it is 1000 years too fast for Judai to beat him. Judai can't argue against him since he has to accept the real strength of Yugi's deck.

Next, Judai draws a card and summons [Friendog 3/800/1200] in a defense mode. Then he ends his turn quickly. Turn is back to Kagurazaka. Drawing a card, he declares the attack of Dark Magician against Friendog. According to the special ability of Friendog, when it is destroyed, Judai can get Polymerization and an E-Hero monster back from his graveyard to his hand. Therefore, he selects E-Hero Burst Lady back to his hand. Seeing how smart Judai is, Kagurazaka ends his turn. Hayato tries to keep Judai up, telling him that his chance will come this turn when the effect of Sword of Revealing Light is gone. When turn comes back to Judai, he summons E-Hero Burst Lady in a defense mode. Setting a card, Judai ends his turn. Since Dark Magician has 2500 attack points, Judai has only one monster that can oppose that power. His chance now is left on [E-Hero Edgeman 7/2600/1400] on his hand. Three turns have passed, so Sword of Revealing Light disappears.

Dark Magician of Chaos
Monster Card

Come to Kagurazaka's turn. Drawing a card, he declares the attack of Dark Magician against E-Hero Burst Lady. This is what Judai has waited for. He suddenly opens his reversed trap card [A Hero Emerges - Hero Kensan]. This card can be activated only if the opponent declares an attack. Due to its effect, Kagurazaka has to select a card randomly on Judai's hand. If it is a monster card, Judai can summon it specially onto the field. Otherwise, the selected card is sent into the cemetery. This is the final chance that Judai bets. He hopes Kagurazaka will choose E-Hero Edgeman of the four. Of course, he gets it. Kagurazaka selects the first card on his left side that is E-Hero Edgeman, so Judai can summon it specially onto the field. Sho is excited by seeing that Dark Magician now has less power than Judai's monster. Misawa thinks that without god cards, Dark Magician becomes the main monster in Yugi's deck; no other monster has greater power than itself. Perhaps, Judai has a chance to win this game. Nevertheless, Kagurazaka thinks that the situation isn't easy like that. He plays a magic card [Dedication Through Light and Darkness - Hikari To Yami No Senrei]. Playing this card, Kagurazaka has to sacrifice Dark Magician as a tribute. However, he can summon [Dark Magician of Chaos - Konton No Kuroma Jyuttsushi 8/2800/2600] specially from his hand, deck, or graveyard. People are all amazed by the strongest legendary spellcaster. When Dark Magician of Chaos is summoned successfully, Kagurazaka can place a magic card from his cemetery onto his hand. Thus, he selects Monster Reincarnation back. Kagurazaka says that this is the real form of the powerful spellcaster. He declares the attack of Dark Magician of Chaos (2800) against E-Hero Edgeman (2600) immediately. Therefore, Judai's LP goes down to 1300 (1500+2600-2800). Again, Kagurazaka reminds Judai that it is 1000 years too fast for Judai to beat him. Judai is getting overwhelmed by this strength, wondering whether he is really dueling against Mutou Yugi.
