episode 175 summarized by Janime

The world is now dark by the solar eclipse. Judai and Johan are facing Fujiwara, the real messenger of Darkness. People are now surrounded by Mr.T calling for Darkness. Judai gets very mad to what Fujiwara did to Fubuki, yelling Fujiwara name loudly. At the same time, the spirit of Honest appears beside him. Honest looks at his ex-master, Fujiwara, now controlled by darkness. Fujiwara has just realized that Honest has been with Judai. Judai tells Honest that he will definitely save Fujiwara by a duel as standing by his duel disk.

Fujiwara is surprised by whom Judai wants to save and where that person is. Judai declares clearly that he will save Fujiwara from the fake hell. Fujiwara chuckles and tells Judai not to misunderstand because the persons whom should be saved are actually Judai and Johan themselves. He even suggests them not confused and lend their ears to nonsense of a card spirit.

Honest looks up set after hearing his master talking about him like that. Judai is certainly angry for Honest. He tells Fujiwara that Honest has come to this world because he believes in Fujiwara and thinks only of him. Fujiwara replies coldly that he doesn't believe in anything and devotes himself only to Darkness. Honest closes his eyes as realizing that his master is listening. He then disappears.

Johan stands by his duel disk quickly and tells Judai that he will also fight with him. Fujiwara is fine with them. It's good that he will them together and lead them to the world of Darkness. Fujiwara stands by his duel disk and explains the rule that they will apply the method of triangle duel. There is no limit for any cooperation. Judai and Johan understand the rule clearly before separating to their positions. Then, three of them start a triangle duel.

Note: A triangle duel is an independent duel not a tag-team duel. The rule is simple. Everybody is an enemy. You can attack or help anybody you want. He also has his own LP. A turn is run one by one for a round. Thus, Judai, Johan, and Fujiwara are standing in a pyramid position. Absolutely, Fujiwara expects that Judai and Johan are going to cooperate in this duel. This is what he has expected to find their darkness of hearts and break their teamwork.

The first turn is with Fujiwara. He draws a card and summons [Clear Phantom - 3/1200/?: {As long as this card is face-up on the field, it is not treated as a Dark Attribute. When this card is destroyed, destroy 1 of your opponent's monsters and your opponent sends 3 cards from [the top of?] his/her deck to the Cemetery.}] onto the field in attack position. Although this is a triangle duel, nobody isn't allowed to attack in a first turn. Thus, Fujiwara sets up a face-down card and ends his turn.

The second turn is with Johan. He draws a card and summons [Gem Beast Emerald Turtle ~ Hougyokujyuu Emerald Turtle - 3/600/2000: Once per turn, you can switch a monster which has attacked on your side of the field to Defense Position. When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card] onto the field in defense position. Gem Beast Emerald Turtle tells Johan to leave this job on itself. Setting up 2 face-down cards, Johan ends his turn.

The last turn of the first round comes to Judai. Drawing a card, he summons [E-Hero Wildman - 4/1500/1600: This monster cannot be effected by Trap Cards] onto the field in attack position. He also sets 2 face-down cards before ending his turn. Judai notes that he is glad to have a tag duel with Johan because they haven't had a tag team for a while. Johan smiles. There is no way he can forget the duel with the battle of Rainbow Dragon. It's the duel that Judai & Johan fought against Martin. By the power of Rainbow Dragon, Johan could create a bridge connecting the original world with the different world and bring everyone back to the original world (episode 130).

Time has returned for both of them to help each other out again in this game. Even though this is a triangle duel, both of them certainly will support each other as they did in the match with Martin in order to save everyone. Their memorable thought annoys Fujiwara very much. Fujiwara thinks that it's just an empty thought and he would like to eliminate it from his sight.

The second round or the real battle has started. Fujiwara draws and gets Clear World. He certainly activates it, [Clear World - Field Spell: According to the attribute of a monster on your field, the player in control of that monster gains one of the following effects. 1) Light Attribute: They must continue on with their hand revealed. 2) Dark Attribute: They cannot declare an attack. 3) Earth Attribute: Once per turn, destroy 1 monster on your field. 4) Water Attribute: Discard 1 card in your hand during the End Phase. 5) Fire Attribute: Receive 1000 points of damage during the End Phase. 6) Wind Attribute: You cannot activate Magic cards], creating 6 crystals above the battle field.

The duel field is cleared, and there is no more shadow of any Mr.T. There is merely clear dark sky with the solar eclipse. Judai understands that, similar to Fubuki's duel, Clear World is a card that controls monsters' attribute and applies negative effect to a player (In other words, negative effect to a player based on his monster's attribute).

Fujiwara claims that E-Hero Wildman has Earth attribute, so Judai has to destroy a monster on his field in every his end phase according to the effect of Clear World. For Johan, Gem Beast Emerald Turtle has Water attribute, so Johan is required to discard a card on his hand into the cemetery in every his end phase.

Next, Fujiwara summons [Clear Rage Golem - 4/1600/1800: As long as this card is face-up on the field, it is not treated as a Dark Attribute. When this card successfully attacks directly and inflicts damage on the opponent, inflict 300 points of damage to the opponent for each card in your opponent's hand] onto the field in attack position.

According to its and Clear Phantom's special abilities, they don't hold any attribute as long as they remain face-up on the field (even though their original attribute is identified as Dark). Therefore, they aren't influenced by the negative effect of Clear World.

Fujiwara starts his battle by declaring the attack of Clear Phantom towards E-Hero Wildman. Judai is surprised because E-Hero Wildman obviously has higher attack points. When Clear Phantom attacks, E-Hero Wildman certainly counters the strike. Clear Phantom is destroyed or kills itself, and Fujiwara's LP decreases to 3700 (4000+1200-1500). Judai doesn't understand at all what Fujiwara intends to do.

Fujiwara activates the special effect of Clear Phantom at this moment. When it is destroyed in battle, a monster on Judai's field must be destroyed. Thus, E-Hero Wildman is then destroyed with it. In addition, Judai has to send the top 3 cards on his deck into the cemetery. The 3 cards are E-Hero Burst Lady, E-Hero Bubbleman, and E-Hero Neos.

By this, Judai no longer has a monster on his field. Fujiwara declares the next attack of Clear Rage Golem towards Judai directly. He even explains that, due to the special effect of Clear Rage Golem, when it can successfully make a direct attack, Judai has to receive additional damage equal to 300 points for each card on his hand. Judai now has 3 cards on hand, so he has to receive more 900 damage points (300*3) besides battle damage points. Johan has just realized that this is what Fujiwara has aimed to.

At this moment, Judai opens his first face-down trap card, [A Hero Merges ~ Hero Kenzan - Trap: When your opponent declares an attack, he/she randomly selects 1 card from your hand. If it is a Monster Card, Special Summon it on your side of the field. If not, send it to the Graveyard]. There are 3 cards on his hand, and Fujiwara has to select one of them randomly. If it's a monster card, Judai can special summon it onto the field.

Trap Strap
Trap Card

Fujiwara picks up the right card. Judai smiles because it is a monster card, [E-Hero Clayman - 4/800/2000]. Thus, he summons it onto the field in defense position. Seeing Judai summon a monster, Johan begins his move. He opens his first face-down trap card [Trap Strap - Counter Trap: You can activate this card when your opponent activates a Trap card. You can, after its effect is activated, set that Trap card into a Magic & Trap Zone. Then, choose 1 monster with Gem Beast in its name from your deck and Special Summon it].

According to its effect, when an opponent (Judai is considered Johan's opponent as well because this is an independent triangle duel) activates a trap card, that trap card can be set up back onto the field. Thus, Judai's trap card, A Hero Emerges, is set up back. Judai thanks Johan for his support. Furthermore, Trap Strap allows Johan to special summon [Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus ~ Hougyokujyuu Sapphire Pegasus - 4/1800/1200: When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned successfully, you can place 1 monster that includes Gem Beast in its card name from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard face-up in an open Spell/Trap Card Zone. When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card] from his deck onto the field in attack position.

Johan counts on Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus, as Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus greets Johan to leave this job on him. When a new monster is summoned onto Johan's field, Fujiwara activates the effect of Clear World. According to its effect, Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus has Wind attribute, so Johan is unable to activate any spell card.

Johan then activates the special effect of Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus. When it is successfully summoned onto the field, he is allowed to put a Gem Beast monster from his deck into his spell/trap card zone. Johan selects to put [Gem Beast Amber Mammoth ~ Hougyokujyuu Amber Mammoth - 4/1700/1600: When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card.} In addition, when a monster that includes Gem Beast in its card name on your side of the field is targeted for an attack, you can change the attack target of that attack to this card] as an amber gem in his spell/trap card zone.

Fujiwara is annoyed by seeing that both Judai and Johan have monsters that can bear the attack of his Clear Rage Golem with 1600 attack points. Judai has E-Hero Clayman with 2000 defense points while Johan has Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus with 1800 attack points. Thus, Fujiwara can't do anything but ends his battle.

Clear Wall
Spell Card

Then, Fujiwara activates a continuous spell card [Clear Wall - Permanent Spell: When Clear World is not on the field, destroy this card. Negate the destruction of an attack mode monster on your side of the field with Clear in its name through battle and reduce Battle Damage up to 1000 towards the player to 0. If 1000 or more points of Battle Damage occur towards the player, destroy this card to reduce that damage to 0] and ends his turn. He is now aware of danger from good combination between Judai and Johan, thinking that he should quickly plan to cut it off.

It should be difficult to play with Judai who holds the power of Yubel. Thus, Fujiwara plans to play with Johan as staring him. Johan asks what Fujiwara is looking at him. Fujiwara chuckles as calling for Johan's truth deep in his heart. Meanwhile, Fujiwara's eyes turn blue and glow. Judai quickly warns Johan to be careful because Fujiwara has power capable of reading their hearts.

Johan understands very well while he is trying to persist. It's still useless. By the power of Fujiwara, he is able to look through Johan's will and finally makes it to Johan's heart. Johan gets stuck and stand still. Judai tries to call Johan and tell him to hang on. Fujiwara is currently looking into the unconscious world of Johan in his heart. He sees the shadow of Rainbow Dragon following by Gem Beast monsters, making him understand that Johan's heart is protected by these monsters. When Fujiwara looks up, he sees a spot light. It seems that as long as these monsters exist, he is unable to figure out what the spot light is.

Fujiwara tries to look over the monsters and vision what the spot light is. As the light moves, it shows the shape of someone's hair or certainly Judai's tail hair. Fujiwara smiles. Finally, he has already figured out Johan's darkness of heart, which is actually Yuki Judai.

Presently, Judai is trying to call and wake Johan up after seeing Johan stand still without response. Fujiwara says that Johan is very similar to Judai. Thus, when their power is combined together, it can create power close to miracle. Nevertheless, similarity is still similarity. It naturally denies existence. Without awareness, Johan has a heart that desires to settle with Judai. It's like the moon eating the sun.

Judai tells Johan again to hang on and not listen to what Fujiwara is saying. Fujiwara says that it's useless since he has already read Johan's heart. Judai keeps calling Johan while Johan now looks obviously confused. Fujiwara draws Johan's attention that he will grant Johan's desire. He asks whether Johan understands why he sets this fight as a triangle duel. The fact is that Fujiwara wants to help Johan defeat Judai in this game.

Johan still looks confused by that this triangle duel is set up for him. Fujiwara convinces Johan that the one to defeat Judai isn't himself but Johan who has a right to do so. He tells Johan to move on fighting Judai, to win, to beat, and to consume him. Johan seems to hesitate shortly before finally declaring his true desire that he wants to win Judai. Judai is shocked by whether Johan has already fallen into darkness. For Fujiwara, he smiles with his successful move on Johan's darkness of heart that wants to beat Judai. Next, he expects Johan to attack Judai as his main target, and their combination will be broken.

summary - second period
episode 175 summarized by Janime

The turn is now with Johan. Drawing a card, he looks at Judai unfriendly. Judai can feel threatening feeling from Johan. Then, Johan summons [Gem Beast Amethyst Cat ~ Hougyokujyuu Amethyst Cat - 3/1200/400: When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card. In addition, by decreasing this card's ATK by half, this card can attack your opponent's Life Points directly] onto the field in attack position.

By the special effect of Gem Beast Amethyst Cat, it can make a direct attack with a half of its attack points. Johan declares the direct target at Judai instead of Fujiwara. Therefore, his LP decreases to 3400 (4000-1200/2). Judai is surprised by how Johan could do this. He falls onto a knee while holding his arm. Fujiwara explains that there is nothing that doesn't have shadow spot (darkness) in hearts. In that shadow, there is figure of anxiety, fear of terror in the future, and despair that makes one want to start demanding zero soon and even want to go down from a duel. This can be seen from many of Judai's friends.

Meanwhile, Johan keeps saying that he doesn't want to lose to Judai. Fujiwara says that Johan isn't an exception. It is clear to him that Johan keeps saying that he wants to beat Judai and clings to despair, anxiety, and shadow of darkness. This can't be helped for human beings because it's common living things that they can't stop thinking about (People have to think about their future, so it's impossible to avoid getting worried about unsuccessful possibility). Thus, there must be the world of Darkness. Fujiwara asks what Judai thinks about releasing Johan.

Although Johan says so that he doesn't want to lose to Judai, he looks confused. He finally falls onto his knees and looks painful. Judai feels sorry to Johan before deciding to open his face-down trap card [Damage Interest - Trap: You can activate this when you receive Battle Damage from the opposing player. Inflict damage equal to double the damage received by the player to the opponent].

According to its effect, when Judai receives battle damage, he can inflict double damage he received to the striker. Johan, therefore, has to receive 1200 damage points (600*2). He is knocked out while his LP decreases to 2800 (4000-1200). Fujiwara is glad to see Judai knock Johan out. For Judai to duel him, Fujiwara considers Johan just an impediment dragged into this duel.

Johan looks mad before getting up and opening his face-down trap card [Damage Capture - Trap: You can activate this when you receive damage. Add an amount of attack power to 1 monster on your side of the field equal to that amount of damage until the end of the turn]. This trap can be activated when he receives battle damage. It allows him to add the damage he receives to a monster on the field. This effect will last until the end of the turn.

Johan selects to add his damage points to Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus, so its attack points go up to 3000 (1800+1200). He keeps saying that he doesn't want to lose and is about to declare the next attack Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus. Fujiwara smiles as if he can guess that Johan is going to let it attack Judai. Johan turns to Judai and looks serious.

Anyway, Johan appears to change his attitude shortly and turns to laugh loudly. Judai also smiles and laughs out loud. Fujiwara is surprised by their attitude as if this is what Judai and Johan have understood. Johan quickly changes his target, declaring the attack of Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus towards Clear Rage Golem. Fujiwara gets mad and thinks whether Johan just bluffed him and acted as if he looked at Judai as an enemy.

Johan explains that things are different from what Fujiwara's thinking. He accepts that he actually wants to win Judai as Fujiwara can expect. However, this isn't darkness but common feeling for a duelist. Judai agrees and accepts that he also wants to defeat Johan. It should be so upset to think that he is defeated by Johan, but this could be rather fun. Johan notes that it doesn't matter whether this excitement is called shadow or darkness.

Because both Judai and Johan accept this feeling, the don't quit a battle. Judai says that Fujiwara is different from them because he quits a battle. This isn't related to the world of Darkness. Fujiwara just surrendered and ran away from a duel, the world, and his true self. Fujiwara obviously looks mad but hasn't argued anything yet.

Fujiwara You just pretended...
Johan No...It is different. In fact, I really want to win Judai. Of course...if I am a duelist.
Judai

Certainly, I also want to defeat Johan. To think that I lose to this guy makes me upset. But isn't that fun?

Johan Ah, it doesn't matter whether to call this excitement darkness or shadow.
Judai We accept that it and don't quit a fight. However, you quit a battle. This isn't related to the world of Darkness. You just surrendered and ran away from a duel, the world, and your true self.

Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus finally makes its attack against Clear Rage Golem. At this moment, Fujiwara activates the effect of his permanent spell, Clear Wall. According to its effect, his Clear Rage Golem can't be destroyed and reduce any damage up 1000 to 0. If damage is over 1000, Fujiwara can destroy Clear Wall to reduce all battle damage to 0. Clear Rage Golem has 1600 attack points while Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus currently has 3000 attack points. Battle damage is 1400 (3000-1600), so Fujiwara can destroy Clear Wall to reduce 1400 battle damage to 0. Eventually, Clear Rage Golem isn't destroyed, either.

Note: Judai and Johan seem to inflict damage to each other by Damage Interest and Damage Capture. However, there is actually some reason for this combo. In order to destroy the effect of Clear Wall, any damage higher than 1000 points is required. Fujiwara has Clear Rage Golem with 1600 attack points on the field. Johan has Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus with 1800 attack points and Judai has E-Hero Clayman with 800 defense points. None of them is capable of inflicting damage over 1000 points. If not, Clear Wall will keep any Clear monster undestroyed forever. Thus, Judai and Johan play Damage Interest and Damage Capture combo to increase the attack points of Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus so that it can inflict battle damage to Fujiwara more than 1000 points and Clear Wall can be destroyed.

Still in Johan's turn, he sets up 2 face-down cards. When time comes to his end phase, he is required to follow the effect of Clear World based on an attribute of his monster. He has Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus, Gem Beast Amethyst Cat, and Gem Beast Emerald Turtle on the field. According to the effect of Clear World, Gem Beast Amethyst Cat has Earth attribute, so it requires Johan destroy a monster on the field. Johan decides to destroy Gem Beast Amethyst Cat. When Gem Beast Amethyst Cat is destroyed, it remains as an amethyst gem in his spell/trap card zone. Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus has Wind attribute. Due to Clear World's effect on this attribute, Johan just can't activate any spell card.

Fujiwara reminds Johan that Gem Beast Emerald Turtle has Water attribute. As a result of Clear World's effect for this attribute, Johan is required to discard a card on hand. Johan has only 1 card left on his hand, so he has to discard his final card. He declares to end his turn at this point.

Sapphire Revive
Trap Card

The turn moves to Judai. Drawing a card, he changes E-Hero Clayman from defense to attack position. At this moment, Johan opens his face-down trap card [Sapphire Revive - Trap: You can only activate this when a Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus is on your side of the field. Select 1 monster from your opponent's Cemetery and Special Summon it on the opponent's field. Then, Special Summon 1 monster with Gem Beast in its name, that has a defense power equal to that monster's, from your Cemetery].

This card can be activated only when Gem Beast Sapphire Pegasus is on the field. It allows Johan to select a monster in the opponent's cemetery and special summon it onto the field. Because Judai is also considered Johan's opponent, Johan helps Judai special summon [E-Hero Burst Lady - 3/1200/800] from his cemetery onto the field in attack position. Judai thanks Johan very much for his help.

In addition, Sapphire Revive allows Johan to special summon a Gem Beast monster with the same defense power as E-Hero Burst Lady's from his cemetery. Thus, Johan selects to special summon [Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle ~ Hougyokujyuu Cobalt Eagle - 4/1400/800: Once per turn, you can return a card with Gem Beast in its name on your side of the field to the top of your deck. When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zone. When in your Spell/Trap Card Zone, treat it as a Continuous Spell Card] onto the field in attack position.

Johan thinks that he accepts he wants to defeat Judai. However, he has Fujiwara as a opponent to defeat in front. It is the purpose of this battle. Johan has owed Judai and would like pay back this big debt. He reminds himself of when he was controlled by Yubel and forced to duel Judai (episode 152). At that time, there was big explosion, and Judai jumped over Johan and saved him.

Johan declares firmly that he intends to devote himself to Judai in this battle. Judai looks at Johan as appreciating his help. Then, he plays Polymerization to fuse E-Hero Featherman on his hand and E-Hero Burst Lady on the field into [E-Hero Flame Wingman - 6/2100/1200: This monster cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion
Summon. When this card destroys a monster and sends it to the Graveyard as a result of battle, inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster
] in attack position.

E-Hero Flame Wingman has Wind attribute, so Judai is no longer allowed to play any spell card. Anyway, it may not matter as Judai declares the attack of E-Hero Flame Wingman towards Clear Rage Golem. Clear Rage Golem is burnt and destroyed by flame shot, and Fujiwara's LP goes down to 3200 (3700+1600-2100).

Furthermore, Fujiwara has to receive additional damage equal to the attack points of Clear Rage Golem, so his LP further decreases to 1600 (3200-1600). Johan understands that this hasn't ended yet, urging Judai to move on. Judai continues by the next strike of E-Hero Clayman towards Fujiwara directly. Getting the direct hit, Fujiwara's LP decreases to 800 (1600-800).

Judai then sets up one face-down card. At his end phase, he has to follow the effect of Clear World. He has E-Hero Clayman and E-Hero Flame Wingman on the field. E-Hero Clayman has Earth attribute, so Judai is required to destroy a monster. He selects to destroy E-Hero Clayman. For E-Hero Flame Wingman, it has Wind attribute. The negative effect from Clear World for this attribute is that Judai can't play any spell card. Thus, there is no influence on any monster.

Fujiwara is very mad to good combination between Judai and Johan. Both Judai and Johan hold their hands together and claim for their justice thought of Heros and bond of Gem Beasts along with their relationship. By all of these, they believe that they will help and pull Fujiwara from the world of Darkness. Judai tells Fujiwara not to surrender this time but come back.

Fujiwara looks very mad as seeing the spirit of Honest appear behind Judai. Honest looks sad and calls for his master. Judai turns to Honest. Although he doesn't says, he will certainly save Fujiwara for him. Honest begs Judai to help his master and hopes that he will make it. Fujiwara begins to say what else Judai knows about him. He will bury them, make them all disappear, and keep them in the infinite or zero world. Johan and Judai don't argue anything but look at Fujiwara laughing alone.

The turn comes to Fujiwara. He draws a card and plays spell card [Clear Sacrifice - Spell: Remove monsters with Clear in their names in your Cemetery from the game equal to the number of sacrifices needed for the Sacrifice Summoning of a monster with Clear in its name. You can Normal Summon that monster without the use of monster sacrifices].

Due to its effect, Fujiwara can remove Clear Phantom and Clear Rage Golem in the cemetery from play and normal summon, without sacrifice, [Clear Vice Dragon - 8/0/0: This card is not treated as a Dark Attribute as long as its face up on the field. If this card attacks, this card's attack power becomes double the attack power of the opposing monster being battled. If this card has attacked, switch it to defense mode at the end of the Battle Phase. By discarding 1 card in your hand, negate the activation and effect of a card with an effect that destroys this card and destroy it. Negate the destruction of this card through battle by discarding 1 card in your hand] onto the field in attack position.

It's the same monster that defeated Fubuki. Like Clear Phantom and Clear Rage Golem, Clear Vice Dragon doesn't have any identified attribute when it is face-up on the field. Also, when Clear Vice Attacks, its attack points can be the double attack points of the monster it is going to attack. Fujiwara declares the first target against E-Hero Flame Wingman. Thus, the attack points of Clear Vice Dragon become 4200 (0+2100*2).

Johan gets very worried and calls for Judai loudly. Fujiwara smiles while the attack of Clear Vice Dragon is moving. He is going to make Judai forget all existence and memory. Judai looks back while seeing the big strike from Clear Vice Dragon towards his E-Hero Flame Wingman.

to be continued...
