episode 17 translated by Janime

During a meal time, Judai and Sho are running quickly to the store where many students are looking around unmarked packages in a big container. Inside these packages are many types of [bread - pan] such as pizza, egg, Koroke (Japanese potato cakes) and yamisoba. Nobody can guess what they are gonna be by looking from outside the packages. What the students are mostly looking for is the rare [golden egg pan - Tamagopan] that the school hen lays only once in a day. In order to get this rare pan, they students have to draw randomly. Anyway, Judai has got the good record of getting Tamagopan for the whole week. However, Sho feels that Judai's luck has gone lately. Drawing an unmark package and then eating the pan inside, Judai falls down and feels disappointed since he gets [Chestnut Pan - Amaguri Pan] instead. Then, Judai and Sho notice Asuka holding two bread in her hand. They are wondering whether she also likes an egg bread. Asuka gets embarassed, denying that she is merely practicing her drawing skill. Of course, Judai seems not to believe what she said although Asuka is trying many times to confirm her words.

Then, Tome-San walks in and apologizes everybody for that there isn't Tamagopan in the container. Someone has sneaked in at night and stole Tamagopan everyday since last week. Sho is getting impressed. He hardly believes that the thief has got only Tamagopan, so his drawing skill should be very great. Tome-San apologizes everybody again since she knows that everybody wants to have fun from this draw. Judai says that Tome-San didn't do anything wrong. The bad guy is supposed to be the thief. Certainly, he can't forgive the theif, so he has an idea to keep his eyes on the theif tonight. Although Sho is getting amazed a bit, he agrees to follow Judai.

At night, the store has already been closed. In a staff room, Sho and Judai are playing cards while Hayato is watching them and Asuka is reading a book. Judai is selecting a card of two, Joker and 4, from Sho's hand. He finally makes up his mind and doesn't get the Joker, so he wins this game. Sho accepts the strong drawing skill of Judai. By the way, Hayato doesn't understand why everybody has to come all this way. Judai tells him that everything is for Tome-San. However, although Judai called Hayato to come here with him today, he doesn't understand why Asuka is also here. Asuka tells him merely that she is just free and has nothing to do. Nevertheless, Judai and Sho think that the main point should be that Asuka can't forgive theif stealing Tamagopan. Sho tells Judai to be careful because Asuka can hear that. In fact, Asuka is thinking that there may be some connection between her brother and this situation. The theif may be a missing student like her brother, so she may get more information from him.

After that, Tome-San brings in some meal. There are three types , so she hopes everybody be lucky by his or her draw this time. Hayato asks which one is Shake (Salmon) since he likes it. When Tome-San is going to tell him, Judai interupts her. He would like people to have fun by drawing it randomly. He also likes Shake and he hopes to get it. Sho is getting exciting by this little game while Asuka is thinking that this may be ridiculous. First turn comes to Judai and he then declares his first draw like a duel game. Eating it, Judai shows that he gets Shake that he really wants (He says Shake Shoukan - Summon Shake/Salmon). Certainly, Sho is very impressed by Judai's drawing skill again. However, Judai can't accept his strenght until he can finally get Tamagopan.

Everything goes into darkness. Judai and the others hide themselves behind the staff room, waiting for the theif to appear. Suddenly, they hear some voice from the store gate. Someone is trying to open the store shutter and sneaking into the container. He moves his hand deeper among various unmarked pan packages and pick up one. At this moment, Judai and the others come out from the staff room as Tome-San is turning on the light. The thief looks very frightened while Judai and the others are trying to catch him. Tome-San seemingly recognizes who the theif is. Anyway, the theif, who is looking like a Tarzan, yells like a real Tarzan and starts running away. He jumps on the container , rides by it, and destroys the gate to the outside while Judai and others are chasing after him.

Then, the theif jumps from the Duel Academy building into the forest, so Judai and the others have to move to the other way and follow him there. They chase the theif until they reach a small waterfall. The theif is trying to climp up onto the fall by his great power. Suddenly, he stops because of Tome-San's voice; Tome-San calls him Taizan-Kun. The theif turns back to Tome-San, falling from the waterfall into the water. Tome-San is certain that this guy is Taizan. Taizan greets Tome-San after he hasn't met her for a long time. Judai asks Tome-San who this guy is. Tome-San introduces him as a Obelisk Blue student, [Taizan Taira]. He has disappeared since last year, so she hasn't expected to find him in the place like this. As Asuka has thought, he is a missing student. Tome-San remembers how hard Taizan tried to pick up and get Tamagopan every day a year ago. Taizan seems very shy when Tome-San is going to reveal his background. Thus, Judai asks Tome-San what exactly happened.

Tome-San explains that Taizan was like Judai and the others who tried to draw and get Tamagopan. A year ago, Taizan as a Obelisk Blue student with shorter hair was trying to pick up and get Tamagopan. However, he got a fish pan (Mesashi Pan) instead. Tome-San felt pity with Taizan who looked very disappointed by his bad draw. Nevertheless, Judai thinks that this guy's drawing skill should be great since he has got the right Tamagopan from the store every day for a week. Taizan gets up and explains that he has already changed from the last year. Previously, when he was dueling against an opponent playing Psycho Shocker deck, he drew and got a trap card. In front of Psycho Shocker, any trap card was useless. As a result, he would like to obtain a good drawing skill. At first, he got no good answer. Therefore, he decided to go into the wilderness and learn about the nature of drawing. At this moment, Asuka feels that this guy seems different from other missing students for whom she is searching. By the way, Taizan later went on his long journey through the mountain; he tried to find some law of mother nature linking with the drawing skill, tested his drawing ability with variously poisonous mushrooms, and practising his drawing with many cards falling from the waterfall. In order to test the result of his practice, he has come down to get Tamagopan again. Taizan feels very happy when he could get Toamagopan for the whole week. His hard attempt finally gave this success. Anyway, Judai challenges Taizan for a duel. He hopes that this duel will become the graduation ceremory for Taizan's tough course. Absolutely, Taizan is willing to show his real drawing ability, accepting Judai's challenge. As usual, Judai thinks of nothing buy having some fun in a duel. However, the others have been bored of Judai's short thought; he can think of nothing but duels.

summaried - second period
episode 17 translated by Janime

The duel between Taizan and Judai finally begins. First turn comes to Judai. Drawing a card, he summons [E-Hero Featherman 3/1000/1000] in an attack mode. After setting a reversed card, he ends his turn. Judai tells Taizan that he would like to see the result of his one-year drawing practice. Of course, Taizan intends to do so.

Drawler
Monster Card

Turn comes to Taizan. He draws a card and sets up a reversed card. After that, he summons his drawn monster card [Drawler]. The attack and defense points of this monster are equal to the number of cards returned to the deck multiplied by 500. Taizan decides to return four cards into his deck. Hayato and Sho getting amazed since this means Taizan is going to return all of his cards and has no card left on his hand. As a result, Drawler's attack points become 2000 (4*500). Taizan declares the attack of Drawler against E-Hero Featherman at once. Accordingly, Judai's LP goes down to 3000 (4000+1000-2000). Following another effect of Drawler, when it destroys an attack-position monster as a result of battle, the destroyed monster is sent to the bottom of the opponent's deck. In other words, E-Hero Featherman is sent to the bottom of Judai's deck. Also, this means Judai can't get it back from graveyard. Then Taizan ends his turn.

Next, Judai draws a card and gets a good card, too. It is [Polymerization - Yuukou]. Judai plays it to fuse [E-Hero Burst Lady 3/1200/1800] with [E-Hero Clayman 4/800/2000] into [E-Hero Rampart Gunner 6/2000/2500] in a defense position. Taizan is wondering whether Judai is trying to defend himself. In fact, Judai intends to play the special ability of E-Hero Rampart Gunner. When it is in a defense position, Judai can attack the opponent directly while the battle damage is halved. Then, Judai declares the attack of E-Hero Rampart Gunner, Rampart Shot, against Taizan directly. As a result, Taizan's LP decreases to 3000 (4000-2000/2). Tome-San is very impressed by Judai's play. However, she asks the others who is gonna win this game. Certainly, people are amazed, wondering whether Tome-San doesn't understand the game. Meanwhile, Asuka is thinking about Taizan's play. In order to increase the attack points of Drawler, he previously lost all cards on his hand. Thus, next draw will be very important to him. Also, Judai is very curious what type of card Taizan will be able to draw.

Miraculous Draw
Trap Card

At this moment, Taizan hasn't drawn his card yet. He opens his reversed permanent trap card [Miraculous Draw - Kiseki No Draw]. Due to its effect, before Taizan is going to draw a card in his drawing phase, he must guess the name of the card he will draw. If he makes it right, he can deal 1000 damage points directly to Judai. However, if he makes it wrong, the 1000 damage points will deal to himself. Judai feels very excited by this amazing trap. Asuka is even amazed how Taizan can guess 1/40 cards in his deck. Then, Taizan starts closing his eyes paying attention to his deck. He reminds himself of his drawing practice in front of the waterfall. He can imagine that it is a magic card [Card Loan]. Absolutely, after drawing, he gets it right. Thus, 1000 damage points deal directly to Judai; his LP goes down to 2000 (3000-1000). After that, Taizan activates the ability of Card Loan that increases the opponent's LP by 1000 points and decreases his own LP by 1000. Therefore, Judai's LP becomes 3000 (2000+1000) while Taizan's LP becomes 2000 (3000-1000). Nevertheless, Card Loan allows Taizan to draw another card from his deck, but he has to return it to his deck and shuffle the deck. People can notice that Taizan is depending his play on his drawing technique again. Drawing a card following this effect, Taizan plays it at once. It is a magic card [Theif - Dorobou]. According to its effect, Judai must draw a card from his deck, and Taizan then has to guess what it is gonna be. If Taizan makes it right, all cards on Judai's hands and field will be returned to his deck, and Judai has to shuffle it. When Judai draws a card, Taizan closes his eyes and thinks about that card. Of course, he gets it right again. Judai's drawn card is actually [De-Spell - Yuukou Kaijyo]. Judai is very excited by Taizan's skill that makes him know any drawing card in advance and get what he exactly wants. However, other people are getting amazed by this weird ability. Next, E-Hero Rampart is also returned to the deck, and Judai has to shuffle his deck (Due to the effect of the magic card - Thief). Without any wall monster, Taizan declares the attack of Drawler against Judai directly. Getting the strong hit, Judai's LP goes down significantly to 1000 (3000-1000).

Turn comes to Judai. Drawing a card, he summons [Friendog 3/800/1200] in a defense position and ends his turn shortly. Hayato thinks that the situation looks bad. If Taizan plays the ability of Miraculous Draw, Judai may get the great hit again, and he will be finally defeated. Asuka even doesn't understand how to describe this type of the duel. Meanwhile, Tome-San asks again which side is gonna win. Thus, Sho tells her that the game hasn't finished yet.

Drone
Monster Card

Taizan thinks about his next turn. According to the effect of Miraculous Draw, he will win once he can guess his next drawing card right; he can deal direct damage of 1000 to Judai. Closing his eyes and paying his attention to his deck again, Taizan guesses that the drawn card must be Shield Crush. However, he makes it wrong. It is a monster card [Drone 2/900/500]. As a result, 1000 damage points deal back to himself. Taizan's LP goes down to 1000 (2000-1000). No matter what, Taizan thinks that he will win the game anyway. He summons Drone in an attack mode, declaring the attack Drawler against Friendog. When Friendog is destroyed, Judai can return Polymerization and a Hero-type monster from his graveyard onto his hand. Thus, he selects to take back E-Hero Burst Lady. Anyway, Taizan's battle phase hasn't finished yet. He later declares the attack of Drone against Judai directly. As a result, Judai's LP goes down to 100 (1000-900). Everybody is now getting worried about Judai. Anyway, Tome-San is still keeping on which side is gonna win until people are getting too bored to answer. Then Taizan ends his turn. He is certain that he is gonna win soon since Judai has only 100 LP left.

Judai tells Taizan that the importance of the drawing is how to enjoy it. People can create a deck when he has fun. Taizan failed in his previous draw since he thought only of winning. Anyway, Taizan doesn't accept and denies what Judai is trying to explain. On the contrary, Judai intends to draw his card with fun and confidence. Drawing a card, Judai gets E-Hero Featherman. Although this card was previously returned to the bottom of his deck, it is returned onto his hand now due to the effect of Taizan's magic card - Thief; Judai had to shuffle his deck. He is gonna show Taizan how this card is becoming some fun. Then, he plays Polymerization to fuse E-Hero Burst with E-Hero Featherman into [E-Hero Flame Wingman 8/2100/1800] in an attack mode. He declares the attack of E-Hero Flame Wingman, Flame Shoot, against Drawler directly. Thus, Taizan's LP goes down to 900 (1000+2000-2100). Taizan realizes that he hasn't been defeated yet since he still has some LP left. However, Judai claims that E-Hero Flame Wingman has another ability to deal damage equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster to the opponent. In other words, another 2000 damage points deal to Taizan, so his LP goes down to 0 (900-2000) and he is finally defeated.

Taizan blames himself and his bad drawing skill. He thinks that he hasn't had enough practice. Judai hopes Taizan has already realized what is exactly important to the drawing. Thus, he invites him draw Tamagopan with fun at school again. Taizan really appreciates everbody's feeling as Tome-San holds him in her arms and welcomes him back. Next day at school, Judai and Taizan come to the container to draw again. Judai hopes that Tamagopan of today hasn't been drawn yet. Of course, not, so Tome-San hopes that they will try their best to get it. Then Judai and Taizan hands into the container to draw and get Tamagopan. Suddenly, Asuka yells loudly since she gets it first. As a result, both of the guys must feel disappointed today.
