episode 109 summarized by Janime

Previously, O'Brien got the order from Professor Cobra to duel Judai and force Judai to show his entire power for great duel energy. While O'Brien was thinking of this mission, Sho approached to him and expressed that he was an important little brother of Judai. Thus, O'Brien caught Sho as a hostage to lure Judai out. If Judai didn't fight seriously, the rope holding Sho would be cut off and Sho would fall down. Judai didn't understand O'Brien's purpose, but he certainly accepted this duel for Sho. When they first played, O'Brien neither summoned any monster nor destroyed Judai's monsters because he was following Professor Cobra's command to let Judai keep on attacking for better fighting spirit and duel energy. Meanwhile. Professor Cobra is observing the game in the controller room. He hopes that O'Brien will be able to pull out all duel energy of Judai even if he has to ruin or destroy himself.

The rope holding Sho is more cut off, causing Sho to swing down a bit. Sho gets frightened and calls Judai for help. People are getting about him. Seeing Kenzan going to move, O'Brien warns him. If they are doing something weird, he will let Sho fall headfirst. O'Brien says as taking up the controller. Judai tells his friends to let him take care of this job before entering his turn.

Judai darws a card and summons [N-Flare Scarab - 3/500/500:This card gains 400 ATK for each Spell and Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field] onto the field in attack position. By the special effect of N-Flare Scarab, its attack points can go up by 400 for each spell or trap cards on the opponent's field. There are face-up Blaze Cannon and another face-down card on O'Brien's field, so the attack points of N-Flare Scarab go up to 1300 (500+400*2).

O'Brien looks at Judai's monster and realizes that it's the effect monster Judai used it fight Jodan before. He believes that Judai isn't the guy who will make straight attack, or Judai isn't going to leave weak cards in attack position. There are two weak monsters, N-Flare Scarab and E-Hero Featherman, and a face-down card on Judai's field. To beat them should be simple.

Firewall
Permanent Card

Anyway, Judai surprises O'Brien by declaring the direct attack of E-Hero Featherman. It is against what O'Brien said before that Judai wouldn't attack straight. At this moment, O'Brien activates his face-down permanent trap card [Firewall - Permanent Trap: When your opponent declares a direct attack, you can negate that monster's attack by removing from play 1 Pyro-Type monster in your Graveyard. Pay 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases. If you do not, destroy this card]. According to its effect, O'Brien can remove Volcanic Bulllet in his graveyard from the game to negate the direct attack. Flame burns out like a wall to shield O'Brien and block the strike of E-Hero Featherman.

Judai hasn't done yet. He declares the next direct attack of N-Flare Scarab. O'Brien tells him that it's still useless, activating the effect of Firewall to remove another Volcanic Bullet from his graveyard from the game to negate the attack of N-Flare Scarab. Judai feels a bit disappointed to his unworkable attacks, so he ends his turn at this point. Kenzan looks worried about Judai as Johan seems to catch up something from O'Brien's play. Johan doesn't understand what O'Brien is aiming to.

O'Brien provokes Judai by asking him whether Judai really thinks that this degree of attack would be working. Judai argues that he saw O'Brien didn't summon any monster in the previous turn. Since O'Brien didn't have any strong monster on his field, Judai didn't have to bring out a greater monster. It wouldn't have been fun if he hadn't tried anything. Sho is afraid whether Judai has forgotten about him already. At this crisis time, it shouldn't matter whether it's fun or not since he is about to fall down at anytime.

O'Brien is thinking that this mission from Professor Cobra is to create some tactics to pull put the entirely potential power of Judai. Judai, perhaps, isn't a mere fool who perceives and plays instinctively.

It's now O'Brien's turn. Drawing a card, he pays 500 LP in his standby phase to keep Firewall on the field. Therefore, his LP decreases to 3500 (4000-500). Then, he plays a spell card [Fire Soul - Spell: Your opponent draws 1 card. Select 1 FIRE monster from your Deck and remove it from the play. Inflict damage equal to half of the removed monster's ATK to your opponent's Life Points] from his hand. This card allows Judai to draw a card. Judai doesn't mind to accept this free chance at all.

Due to the effect of Fire Soul, O'Brien can remove a fire-type monster from his deck from the game to deal direct damages to Judai equal to a half of the removed monster's attack points. He selects to remove such a strong monster, [Hell Flame Emperor - 9/2700/1600: This card cannot be Special Summoned. When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can remove from play up to 5 FIRE monsters in your Graveyard. Destroy a number of Spell or Trap Cards on the field equal to the number of cards that you remove from play by this effect].

Fire Soul
Spell Card
Hell Flame Emperor
Monster Card

Hell Flame Emperor has 2700 attack points, so Judai has t receive the direct damages of 1350 (2700/2). A flame monster appears in front of him before giving him a fire punch. Judai's LP decreases to 2650 (4000-1350). He has just realized the power of O'Brien's deck that is very strong. O'Brien thinks that Judai is still misunderstanding. The current power of his fire deck is just a candlelight not the real flame. Then, O'Brien has noticed that there's something wrong with him since he seems enjoying the duel.

Judai declares firmly that he won't be defeated, asking what O'Brien is gonna do. Anyway, he just notices O'Brien looking different and taking deep breath. O'Brien is analyzing the situation carefully. Judai has remained sacrifices to summoning a greater monster from his hand in the next turn. In that case, O'Brien plans to block the attack by Firewall again. He sets up Burial from Second Dimension on the field for the further preparation since it has the effect to return three monsters removed from the game into the cemetery. O'Brien needs monsters in the cemetery to satisfy the effect of Firewall. Lastly, it's possible that Judai may think of destroying Firewall. Thus, O'Brien sets up Fire Trap for this purpose. Fire Trap has an ability to negate the effect of the card that will destroy a permanent trap. By all of this, his mission will be ended. He then ends his turn at this point.

Johan notices O'Brien paying attention on the duel. Thus, this should be a good chance for them to save Sho. Kenzan agrees. Thus, both of them are trying to walk quietly closer to Sho from the side way.

The turn comes to Judai. Drawing a card, he activates the spell card [Fake Hero - Spell: Special Summon 1 monster that includes Elemental Hero in its card name from your hand. The monster Special Summoned by this card' s effect cannot attack and is returned to your hand at the End Phase of the turn]. It allows him to summon [E-Hero Neos - 7/2500/2000] specially from his hand onto the field in attack position.

Kenzan is getting excited by that E-Hero Neos has finally come out. It means to him that Judai is going to crush down O'Brien seriously and get the victory. Nevertheless, Johan doesn't think that it will be easy. He wants to say that the monster summoned by Fake Hero is unable to attack in the current turn it was summoned. That makes Kenzan feel a bit disappointed by such a chance. Sho also looks sad that it may not be working.

Judai declares that the real thing will be from now on, surprising O'Brien. It seems that Judai knows well that E-Hero Neos summoned by Fake Hero can't attack in this turn. Thus, he changes his strategy by doing Contact Fusion (Fusion without Polymerization between E-Hero and N-Spacian) between E-Hero Neos and N-Flare Scarab. Both monsters fly into the sky and form into [E-Hero Flare Neos - 7/2500/2000: This card cannot be Special Summoned except by returning the above cards on your side of the field to your Deck; then you can Special Summon this card from your Fusion Deck (You do not use Polymerization). This card gains 400 ATK for each Spell and Trap Card on the field. This card returns to the Fusion Deck during the End Phase].

Judai explains the effect of E-Hero Flare Neos that its attack points can increase by a spell or trap card on both fields. There are a face-down card on Judai field, two face-down cards, Firewall, and and Blaze Cannon on O'Brien's field, or 5 spell/trap cards in total. Thus, the effect of E-Hero Flare Neos become 4500 (2500+5*400). The high-level monster has come as O'Brien has expected, but he has already prepared for it. Judai thinks that O'Brien already removed all of his monsters, Volcanic Bullets, in his graveyard, so he shouldn't have any monster left there to activate the effect of Firewall. Judai hasn't realized that O'Brien is preparing Burial from Another Dimension in this case.

Judai confidently declares the direct attack of E-Hero Flare Neos. As planned, O'Brien activates the instant spell card [Burial from Second Dimension ~ Ichigenkara No Maisou - Instant Spell: Select up to 3 Monster Cards removed from play, and return those cards to Graveyard] to return three monsters, two Volcanic Bullets and Hell Flame Emperor, previously removed from the game to the cemetery. At this rate, he can remove one Volcanic Bullet in the graveyard from the game to satisfy the effect of Firewall, negating the direct attack of E-Hero Flare Neos.

Contact Out
Spell Card

Judai hasn't done yet. He continues by the next direct attack of E-Hero Featherman. O'Brien tells him that it's the same situation. He removes another Volcanic Bullet in the cemetery from the game to activate the effect of Firewall and negate the direct attack of E-Hero Featherman. While O'Brien thinks that this should be enough, Judai hasn't given up yet. He plays the instant spell [Contact Out - Instant Spell: Return 1 Fusion Monster on the field that includes Neos in its name. In addition, if the set of Fusion-Material Monsters used to Special Summon that monster are together in your Deck, you can Special Summon those specific monsters to your side of the field] from his hand.

This spell is working like De-Fusion, defusing E-Hero Flare Neos into E-Hero Neos and N-Flare Scarab. O'Brien is very shocked by Judai's play going beyond his reading. This means two more attacks are coming. Judai declares the direct attack of E-Hero Neos. O'Brien has the last monster, Hell Flame Emperor, left in his cemetery, so he repeatedly removes it to activate Firewall and negate the attack of E-Hero Neos.

Not yet, Judai declares as letting the final strike of N-Flare Scarab against O'Brien directly. He claims the special effect of N-Flare Scarab that its attack points can increase by 400 points for each spell or trap on the opponent's side. There are currently Firewall, Blaze Cannon , and face-down card on O'Brien's field, so its total attack points become 1700 (500+400*3). O'Brien already used up his monsters in the graveyard to satisfy the ability of Firewall; therefore, he can no longer activate it. N-Flare Scarab punches O'Brien directly, and his LP decreases to 1300 (3000-1700). Kenzan is happy to see that Judai's multiple attacks finally worked. Judai is also glad to his success after many attempts. He ends his turn at this point.

Sho cheers up Judai out loud until Kenzan has to warn him not to get too excited. He tells himself that although it's kept defended, that will bring out the result. Kenzan looks at Sho and smiles as if Sho has finally got something. Sho says out loud that to give respect to the opponent and to have passinate duel isn't a contradiction. They can go together. Kenzan tells him that it's right. Judai taught Sho about this by duel. Jodan looks a bit surprised. As far as he knew, Judai didn't say anything but did save Sho. Meanwhile, the rope is more cut off, and Sho's body is moving down. He screams with scare and calls Judai for help. Johan plans to do something, telling Sho to bear it.

summary - second period
episode 109 summarized by Janime

Professor Cobra is looking at duel energy of Judai that is getting bigger, looking very pleased. O'Brien is his good soldier capable of taking all of duel energy from Judai. At the cliff, Johan is trying to use a branch block the buzzsaw divice, but it isn't working. The branch is broken in pieces, and the buzzsaw keeps on working. Kenzan warns them not to make a loud noise; otherwise, O'Brien may get the attention and turns here. Johan says that things should be fine and tells everybody to look at O'Brien. Now, he doesn't seem to notice this.

O'Brien's hand is trembling. He didn't expect that Judai could go beyond his tactics. He looks at his trembling hand and reminds himself of his father words. Once when he and his dad were together at a campfire in a cave, he asked his dad whether soldiers were at the beck of hirers. This sounded to him that they were only faithful dogs.

His dad explained, "Soldiers, for missions, can go out into dangerous battlefields. However, although it's a mission, they have the right to claim for their lives. Burn on, my son!".

O'Brien has almost forgetton his dad's teaching. His dad wasn't a dog of battle field at the hirer's beck and call. On the other hand, he was a passionate and buring warrior. Judai made him remember it. O'Brien smiles to his dad and Judai. He thinks that his real duel doesn't need a hostage, so he decides to take up the buzzsaw controller and stops it by himself. People especially Judai become very surprised. O'Brien intends to show Judai to really potential power of his fire deck, [Volcanic Burn Deck]. Although Judai doesn't know what's going on, he smiles and looks happy to O'Brien's right decision. At this moment, Professor Cobra has noticed that there's something wrong with duel energy.

The turn comes to O'Brien. Drawing a card, he gets Blasting Vein, and the card on the other hand is Volcanic Force. In this standby phase, he has to pay 500 LP to remain Firewall in this turn, so his LP goes down to 800 (1300-500). Next, he activates [Blasting Vein - Spell: Destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card set on your side of the field. Draw 2 cards from your Deck] from his hand. By its effect, O'Brien has to destroy a trap card, [Fire Trap - Counter Trap: You can activate this card when your opponent activates a card that includes an effect to destroy a Continuous Trap Card on your side of the field. Negate that effect and destroy it. When this card is destroyed by a card effect, you can draw 1 card from your Deck], on the field to draw two new cards.

Following by the effect of Fire Trap, when it's sent to the cemetery, O'Brien can draw another card. The cards on his hand are now Crazy Fire, Blaze Cannon Trident, Volcanic Buckshot, and Volcanic Force. Judai looks excited by such a preparation, waiting for what's coming. O'Brien first plays by sending Blaze Cannon into the cemetery to activate [Blaze Cannon Trident - Continuous Spell: Activate only by sending 1 face-up Blaze Cannon on your side of the field to the Graveyard. You can send 1 Pyro-Type monster frm your hand to the Graveyard to destroy 1 monster your opponent controls and inflict 500 damage to your opponent].

Blasting Vein
Spell Card
Blaze Cannon Trident
Spell Card

Judai is getting more excited. By his sight, Blaze Cannon Trident is the powered-up version of Blaze Cannon (power-up Spell card by sacrifice). Similar to the effect of Blaze Cannon, Blaze Cannon Trident also requires a monster to activate its effect. O'Brien can send Volcanic Buckshot into the cemetery to destroy a monster on Judai's field. He declares that this attack will be strong, and Judai will go to hell. Blaze Cannon Trident fires out three Volcanic Buckshots to destroy E-Hero Featherman, E-Hero Neos, and N-Flare Scarab.

There appears big explosion, and Professor Cobra is getting very shocked. He doesn't understand what O'Brien is doing. O'Brien should have pulled out duel energy until the end. In other words, O'Brien had to open a chance for Judai's monsters to keep on attacking not to destroy them. Professor Cobra gets very angry, wondering whether O'Brien is throwing away the mission to obatin the victory and betraying him.

Volcanic Buckshot
Spell Card

Judai is very surprised by such a damage. O'Brien explains that Blaze Cannon Trident can be equipped by a fire-type monster like a bullet, destroy an opponent's monster, and deal direct 500 damages to Judai. Judai doesn't think that it's the whole story. O'Brien says that Judai is right. Another effect he used comes from [Volcanic Buckshot - 2/600/0: When this card is sent to the Graveyard, inflict 500 damage to your opponent. If this card is sent to the Graveyard for the effect of a Blaze Accelerator card, you can send 2 Volcanic Scattershots from your hand / Deck to the Graveyard to destroy all monsted your opponent controls].

According to its effect, when this card's sent to graveyard, O'Brien could discard other two Volcanic Buckshots from his deck to the cemetery to destroy all of Judai's monsters. In other words, if Volcanic Buckshot hadn't been used as a bullet for Blaze Cannon Trident, only one monster on Judai's field would have been destroyed. The special effect of Volcanic Buckshots destroyed all of the remaining monsters on Judai's field.

Besides, O'Brien explains that when Volcanic Buckshot's sent to the cemetery, 500 damages will inflict to Judai. As a whole, Judai has to receive 2000 (4*500) direct damages; one belongs the Blaze Cannon Trident, and other three belong to three Volcanic Buckshots sent to the cemetery. Judai's LP decreases significantly to 650 (2650-2000). Johan is amazed by that 2000 damages were inflicted in such a short time. Kenzan realizes that this makes the number of fire-type monsters in O'Brien's graveyard increase. That means O'Brien can activate the effect of Firewall to negate Judai's attack multiple times. Johan is afraid that Judai's attacks may no longer be working.

Sho argues out loud that it isn't true. He believes that Judai will win as cheering him up. His body is moving around until Kenzan has to warn him not to work up. The rope may not bear it, and he may fall down. Johon wonders by those confident words coming from Sho who just expressed weakness previously. Looking at Sho now, he has just realized that Judai is like a catalyst burning everything touching it (He heats up the fighting spirit of everybody surrounding him). This also makes him look like an innocent kid.

Sho screams out loud again since he is going to fall. The rope is finally cut off. Johan quickly catches Sho's rope in time as Kenzan is holding Johan's arm tightly. Kenzan tells Judai that Sho is okey. Judai thanks Kenzan and Johan for their helps. O'Brien thougth that if Sho hadn't been active, he wouldn't have fallen. Judai calls back O'Brien's attention and tells him that his Hero deck hasn't been defeated yet. O'Brien is very surprised by such a stupidly straight act of Judai. His fusion, Neo-Spacian, and Hero aren't a technical deck by nature. All of Judai's monsters attack in front, and they are all based on faith. This straight attack will come soon, so O'Brien prepares by setting up two face-down cards and ending his turn.

The turn comes to Judai. He summons [E-Hero Wildman - 4/1500/1600: This monster cannot be effected by Trap Cards] onto the field in attack position. It has a special ability not to be affected by any trap card, so Firewall shouldn't work with it. O'Brien challanges Judai to come into his trap if Judai thinks so. As he wishes, Judai declares the attack of E-Hero Wildman quickly. O'Brien thinks that if he opens his trap card [Volcanic Force - Trap: Send a Blaze Cannon Trident on your side of the field to activate. Special Summon 1 Volcanic Devil from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard], he can special summon Volcanic Devil with 3000 attack points to counter E-Hero Wildman. This will end the game, reducing Judai's LP to 0 (650+1500-3000).

However, O'Brien looks through the surveillance camera behind Judai, sensing the angry face of Professor Cobra. He has just realized that he has almost forgetton his mission because of Judai. Thus, he changes his mind to activate [Crazy Fire - Instant Spell: Pay 500 Life Points. Destroy a face-up Blaze Cannon card you control and destroy all monsters on the field. Then, Special Summon 1 Crazy Fire Token (Pyro-Type/FIRE/LEVEL 3/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) in Attack Posistion. Also, you cannot declare an attack this turn] instead.

Volcanic Force
Trap Card
Crazy Fire
Instant Spell Card

According to its effect, O'Brien has to pay 500 LP to destroy Blaze Cannon Trident so that he is able to destroy all monsters on the field. Therefore, his LP decreases to 300 (800-500) as Blaze Cannon Trident and E-Hero Wildman are destroyed. In addition to the effect of Crazy Fire, a Crazy Fire token with 1000 attack points is summoned onto his field in attack position. O'Brien sees that all of Judai's monsters are destoy, and this token will be the combo to defeat him. From what he has seen, he is certain that he will get the victory for this game.

Meanwhile, Sho has finally been saved on board while Kenzan is helping to untie him. They are all worried about Judai and the final result. Whatever is concerning O'Brien is Judai's face-down card remaining since the first turn. O'Brien expects it to be a card able to activate when a monster is destroyed by a card effect.

Judai sees O'Brien doing well, but he hasn't given up yet. He opens his face-down trap card [Elemental Mirage - Trap: This card can only be activated when a monster that includes E-Hero in its card name is destroyed. Special Summon that monster during the End Phase]. As O'Brien has expected, this card allows Judai to resummon E-Hero Wildman just destroyed from the graveyard. Judai lets it destroy Crazy Fire token quickly. This strike reduces O'Brien's LP to 0 (300+1000-1500), so he is eventually defeated. O'Brien hopes that this should be good for Professor Cobra. He already completed the mission to pull out Judai's power.

Duel energy at O'Brien's Dis-Belt is then sent out at the same time when O'Brien is getting dizzy. He feels as if energy is pulled off from his body. It makes him unable to stand straight. It's also the same on Judai's side. He finally collapses onto the ground and loses consciousness. Everybody runs into him with worry.

In the medical room at school, Judai is sleeping in a bed as Johan is reporting to Teacher Ayukawa that Judai merely had a duel. Teacher Ayukawa believes that there should be something else because Judai's current condition is more serious than just having a duel. It seems to her that Judai used up the entire energy of his body. Kenzan thinks that it might be such a fierce fight. Anyway, things still seem unclear to Teacher Ayukawa that Judai got a lot of damage by the solid vision system.

Then, Judai finally gets up. He asks people what he is doing here. Seeing many people staying together, Judai asks what people are also doing here. Sho is about to cry, so Judai asks what's wrong with that face of Sho.

Sho tells Judai firmly, "Big Brother, I will no longer lose my way. Because I am a different person from Big Brother, I will go forward by my own path. I still don't suit Blue. From Yellow, I will aim to Kaiser Sho again!".

Sho decides to restart from Ra Yellow, so he takes off Blue uniform. Judai just smiles and nods his head before falling asleep again. Teacher Ayukawa tells Sho not to be worried. Judai has just fallen asleep. Sho is getting very worried about him as looking him sleeping with happy face. Judai seems to get very exhausted due to duel energy pulled off and now floating into the container inside Professor Cobra's controller room.
