Inside darkness, weak female voice moans Judai's name and calls for him, "Judai, where are you, Judai? My dear person, Yuki Judai~". A demonic and big eye of a monster, the origin of the voice, is then open.

On a sunny day, a white cruise is along the ocean. A man on the top deck is describing, "October 11, the journey to board on Duel Academia has been complete safely. For this journey, the ship prepared by Kaiba Corporation has such a perfect amenity. But if there is merely a problem, it's that there are only 5 guests on this cruise. The first person is me, Amon Garam. Another person is Jim Crocodile Cook. It seems that there looks like his favorite place. The third and fourth persons are Professor Cobra and Austin O'Brien. However, both of them hardly leave their rooms".

Amon looks down nearby the pool, and there appears another guy sleeping and lying his head on a crocodile. Amon describes him as the second passenger, Jim Crocodile Cook.

Amon then talks about the 3rd and 4th persons, [Professor Cobra] and [Austin O'Brien]. He doesn't mention much about them because these two people hardly leave their rooms. In a room, a muscular Egyptian man, Austin O'Brien, is polishing his deck and loading it into an unusal gun-shape duel disk. He gets up and hangs the duel disk onto his belt. O'Brien walks into the middle of the room, stands still, and closes his eyes. Suddenly, he opens his eyes as well as draws the gun-shape duel disk from his belt and equips it onto his left arm quickly. After O'Brien is drawing 5 cards from his deck, someone is interrupting him by knocking the door.

O'Brien asks with cold voice who is there. A man outside just replies, "It's me!". O'Brien can recognize who he is by the tone of voice, so he walks to the door and open it for the man. Meanwhile, he keeps his gun-shape duel disk back to his belt. When O'Brien opens the door, there appears a very big guy called Professor Cobra. Professor Cobra looks very serious and holds his hands back like a soldier while walking into O'Brien's room. Professor Cobra greets O'Brien that he looks busy as always. Then, he asks whom O'Brien wants him to take a look. O'Brien doesn't say anything, but gives a profile on the desk to Professor Cobra. It's the profile of Amon Garam.

Professor Cobra looks at the profile and just makes a comment that Amon seems to be such an officious guy. He gives the paper back to O'Brien and tells him to leave this guy alone. Professor Cobra further tells O'Brien that when they arrive Duel Academia, the custom duel will begin. Thus, he hopes that O'Brien won't neglect his preparation. O'Brien looks at Professor Cobra with confident eyes as a sign that he has been preparing for it. Professor Cobra realizes that he might be talking about boring things to O'Brien. It's impossible that O'Brien will miss such a thing, so he decides to leave the room.

On the deck of the cruise, Amon keeps on describing the last passenger. He calls him a ghost that doesn't exist on the ship. However, he expects that things will become clear when he arrives Duel Academia. In front of him is the island where Duel Academia is located on. Jim finally gets up from his nap and looks forward. He says, "Blue sky, Emerald sea, Wild volcano, Duel Academia! It's a beautiful!" as raising his crocodile up above his head.

Sho is running towards Osiris Red dorm in his new Blue uniform, calling for Judai Big Brother. Seeing Kenzan, he asks where Big Brother has been. Kenzan replies that he hasn't seen Judai Big Brother for a while, either. Sho thinks that Judai may have forgotten already that there will be an opening ceremony today. He looks at Kenzan and asks whether Kenzan intends to join the ceremony with that form. Kenzan looks at himself and doubts whether it isn't good enough to go like this. Sho corrects him that he doesn't mean that Kenzan can't. He just wanna say that he had better have something new for today, showing off his blue uniform.

Kenzan realizes that Sho has been promoted to Obelisk Blue, so he is glad and also congratulates him. Sho corrects him again that he doesn't mean the new uniform but new lens on his eyeglasses. He thinks that he should get new ones since he has been up to the third year at school. Kenzan is afraid to say that he doesn't see any difference at all. Anyway, Sho turns back to the point, asking for Judai. It's almost too late for the openning ceremony, and they may not be able to make it.

Three light balls appear in the sky while wind blows out sand around. Judai is lying down on desert and is finally awake. He looks a bit confused by unfamilar place. When he looks forward, he sees the building of Dual Academia in a bleached white desert along with an ominous black-green sky above. Judai notices a group of people in front, so he yells out to ask whether somebody is there. Nobody responds, so he decides to slide down from the hill and runs off. The picture that Judai is seeing is his friends, Manjyome/Sho/Asuka/Professor Chronos/Kenzan, standing in form of sand dolls like frozen statues. Judai obviously gets shocked and tries to reach out Manjyome. Suddenly, Manjyome's body dissolve into the air, so do the others. Judai becomes very shocked and screams. This is when he finally gets up from nightmare.

Judai finds himself on the roof of Duel Academia building. He pants heavily as the spirit of Winged Kuriboh appears nearby. Judai looks at Winged Kuriboh and realizes that it's the one waking him up from the weird dream. As he still looks confused, Winged Kuriboh turns to look at the other side. Judai asks if whether there is something wrong. He looks out and then sees a small glowing blue tail swinging around behind a wall. A mysterious and transparent blue creature with Ruby gemstone on its tail and forehead scampers out and runs out towards them. It begins to play with Winged Kuriboh, but Judai wonders what this creature is.

Judai guesses that it may be a squirrel. However, the Ruby creature shakes its head to tell him that it isn't. Then, it smiles and looks happy once it hears the voice of its master. A youthful voice calls out for "Ruby", and it scampers back to its owner. It runs up to the boy's leg and coils on his shoulder. He is a mysterious blue-hair boy with Obelisk Blue uniform.

Judai begins to greet him and asks whether its name is actually Ruby. The body introduces him the full name of his friend, a legendary living creature [Ruby Carbuncle]. The boy sees the spirit of Winged Kuriboh and asks whether this is Judai's monster spirit. If so, he expects that the person in front of him should be true Yuki Judai. Judai wonders whether the boy can see his monster spirit. The boy tells Judai that he has been able to see monsters spirits since he was young. Judai replies that he has been able to do so since he was a kid. At this moment, Judai has just doubted when he actually started to be able to see the spirits. Inside darkness, there appears the scary monster that called for Judai early. It seems to be the answer for him.

Anyway, since Judai has never seen the boy's face before, he asks whether the boy is a new student. The boy looks a bit surprised and says that he may be called like that. Judai welcomes him to Duel Academia before both of them shake their hands together. He looks at the boy and tells him that he has some strange feeling to him. The boy tells Judai that he can feel the same thing as if they haven't met here by the first time. Meanwhile, Winged Kuriboh swats Ruby with a wing, and Ruby leaps at it. They have catfight in the air between two masters.

While both of them are watching at the scuffle of their monster spirits, Sho and Kenzan interrupt them. They call Judai for the opening ceremony going to start soon. As Sho thought, Judai says that he has completely forgetton about it. Sho tells Judai to follow quickly as Kenzan says that they will go ahead. Judai tells the boy that he has to go now, hoping to see the boy again. Then, he runs off and tells Winged Kuriboh to come after. The boy just watches after him and laughs pleasantly.

Many duelists are seating by color in the classroom. Thus, Sho is sitting with Asuka in Obelisk Blue as Manjyome, Kenzan, and Judai are sitting together at Osiris Red. All of the teachers are on the stage. Principal Samejima begins his speech to welcome all new first-grade students who will start the school today. He would like them to get through without regret from now on.

Kenzan turns back to asks Manjyome whether it's really good for him to stay in Osiris Red. Manjyome smirks before replying that there is no difference now where he stays. He is even thinking about a Black dorm if he can do so. On the other hand, Manjyome should be the one who asks why Kenzan is in Osiris Red. Similar to Manjyome, Kenzan thinks that any dorm is good for him.

Next, Vice Principal Napoleon announces the representative of new students, Saotome Rei, to give a speech to the teachers. Manjyome remembers her very well, looking unfriendly. Kenzan feels sorry to Manjyome. Although he returns to Osiris Red, his room has already been taken by this lady. Manjyome says that Kenzan that he is very noisy, telling him to return to Ra Yellow. Then, the students applaud together while Rei is stepping to the front.

Rei raises her right hand up and begins to speak. As new students, they will follow the rules of Duel Academia. They will give respect to the pride and duelists. She finally swears to the public before ending by declaring her name as the representative of the new students. Rei bows politely to the teachers before walking off. At the same time, she turns to Judai and winks at him. Asuka can notice the meaning of the wink for Judai, so she stares at him seriously. Even Sho can notice her unfriendly sight. Kenzan laughs before looking at Judai. He begins to be worried about his future. Judai thinks that Kenzan may be right.

Then, Principal Samejima announces to welcome new capable students for this year. He explains that Duel Academia aiming to development or growth of duel reproduces those branches. Meanwhile, the world map is displayed on big screen to show the expansion of Duel Academia branches around the world. This year, the students attending those schools will come to join this Duel Academia. Kenzan understands that a champion for each of those Duel Academias are showing off here. Judai apparently looks excited by whether those capable guys will certainly come.

Principal Samejima first introduces the representative of Duel Academia East School, [Amon Garam], following by the represetative of Duel Academia West School, [Austin O'Brien]. Next, he introduces the representative of Duel Academia South School, [Jim Crocodile Cook]. All of three students show and line up on stage once their names are called. Especially, Jim is carrying a big green crocodile above his head. Then, Principal Samejima introduces the last representative from Duel Academia North School, Johan Anderson. Despite big applaud, people are surprised when nobody comes out. Amon doubts whether Johan is a true ghost.

At this moment, Manjyome has just remembered that he knows Johan Anderson who holds Gem Beast deck. Judai and Kenzan wonder what it means. Manjyome explains that once his Manjyome group used to try to use all of its assets to buy Gem Beast cards from Industrial Illusion of Pegasus. Kenzan hardly believed that Manjyome really did such a cruel thing. Manjyome clarified that it happened a long time ago before going into the story.

Once upon a time, the ruler of Roman Empire, Julius Caesar, collected 7 gemstones from many places to prove the reign of Rome all over the world. However, during the transportation, those gemstones sunk into the sea and disappeared. Then, President Pegasus discovered them and used them to create 7 gemstone cards. They are called Gem Beast. Anyway, President Pegasus didn't sell those cards but gave to a boy or Johan who was a champion of a tournament. Judai is amazed by that Johan is holding such awesome cards. He gets excited as always and wants to try dueling him.

Manjyome	Johan...Johan Andersen! The same Johan that holds the Gem Beast deck?!
Judai	Gem Beast?
Kenzan	Do you know him-saurus? Manjyome-sempai!
Manjyome	Some time ago, the Manjyome Group used all of its assests to try and buy up the Gem Beast cards from Industrial Illusions Inc.
Kenzan	Manjyome-sempai...How could do such a thing....
Manjyome	It was a long time ago! According to the ancient documents Industrial Illusions Inc. found...At a time in the past, the ruler of the Roman Empire, Julius Caesar, gathered together seven gemstones from distinct places as proof of Rome reigning over the world, and tried to make a lithograph about it. But, en route transporting those gemstones to Rome, they sunk to the depths of the sea in a storm and vanished.That is what President Pegasus discovered, using the components of those seven gemstones to make seven cards.
Kenzan	That's the Gem Beast?
Manjyome	The cards weren't sold for money, instead, President Pegasus handed them over to a boy, the champion of a specific tournament.
Judai	So it's that Johan guy has those awesome cards, huh!? Oh wow! I can't wait to try and duel him!

Once Kenzan tells Judai that Johan hasn't come, the door of the conference room is open. There appears the body Judai met previously. He is getting exhausted after being late. While he is running down to the stage, Judai greets him and recognizes him as the new student. The boy asks Judai whether here is where the opening ceremony is. Judai confirms that it is. By the way, he asks whether the boy had seen Johan around here before he came in. The boy looks a bit confused while Principal is about to tell the truth to Judai. The boy tells Judai that he is actually Johan. Johan feels sorry to Judai and explains that he didn't intend to deceive or make him misunderstand that he was a new student.

Thus, Principal Samejima again introduces [Johan Anderson] officially as the representative from Duel Academia North School. Johan jumps onto the stage and raises his hands to receive big applaud from people. He greets to Amon and O'Brien, but O'Brien seems to have cold eyes towards him. Jim also greets Johan and offers him a handshake for a sign of his friend. Then, Johan is frightened by seeing the crocodile growling and looking at him. Professor Chronos and Vice Principal Napoleon have just realized the the crocodile is actually alive.

Finally, Principal Samejima introduces [Professor Cobra], the teacher for the special course this year from Duel Academia West School (The same school as O'Brien). The giant guy looking unfriendly then steps to the front line. He nods to Principal Samejima before turning to greet everybody. Originally, listening to his speech like this may be able to help the students. There is even actual fighting in silly talks. That's the way of Professor Cobra's policy. Judai doubts whether Professor Cobra is a teacher able to understand (The teacher isn't able to say understandable things).

"Right away, in order to follow that policy, we will have Exhibition Match", Professor Cobra concludes.

Principal Samejima, Professor Chronos, and Vice Principal Napoleon are all surprised since they have never heard of this set-up match before. Professor Cobra is about declaring the players going to fight in this match. He is also thinking about persons whom he is indeed interested in. The name of Johan Anderson is then declared as the first player. While Professor Cobra is going to declare the opponent, Manjyome stands up with confidence that he must be the chosen one. However, Professor Cobra declares the name of Yuki Judai. Manjyome is knocked down while Judai stands up excitedly. Judai thinks that it's such a good luck for him to duel valuable and legendary cards.

Manjyome really wonders why the player isn't him. He gets up and argues that he is GX Champion. Kenzan and Judai have to calm Manjyome down. Johan sees that there is also a weird guy over there with Judai.

Judai and Johan move up to the stage and stand in front of Professor Cobra. Professor Cobra tells them to hand over their right hands and attaches two silver wristbands looking like a watch to them. Judai doubts what it is. Professor Cobra just says that it's a present for them. Also, the duel will begin in an hour.

Later, Professor Cobra is led by a glowing pocket watch to a mysterious building in the forest almost covered by vegetation. He moves into the building and arrives a dark room.

At the same time in duel Arena, Johan and Judai are standing by their duel disks. Judai tells Johan that he gets very excited by this quick chance to duel him. Johan also tells Judai that he is looking forward to have a fun game with him. Besides both players, other friends and teachers including all new students are paying attention to the game around the audience seats. Meanwhile, Professor Cobra is opening a locked case and taking out a mysterious glass container with some orange liquid inside. He places it onto the floor. Suddenly, white circle extends from the container and glows with white aura. Some black aura also emerges from it and swirls up. Professor Cobra just smiles while looking at the on-going process. At this moment, Judai and Johan declare to begin the duel.

Gem Beast Emerald Turtle Monster Card

First turn comes to Johan. Once he draws a card, Manjyome gets excited by the coming of Gem Beasts. Johan calls out [Gem Beast Emerald Turtle ~ Hougyokujyuu Emerald Turtle - 3/600/2000: Once per turn, you can switch a monster which has attacked on your side of the field to Defense Position. When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card] onto the field in defense position.

An Emerald gemstone appears on the field and glows with green light. Rei sees it very beautiful. The Emerald gemstone is then broken, and there appears Gem Beast Emerald Turtle with crystals lining its shell. Its feather is inside the shell, and people can see only two green eyes. Judai is getting surprised as Jim whistles with impression. Gem Beast Emerald Turtle begins to talk to Johan. It has slept well until now, asking Johan where this place is.

Johan says that here is Duel Academia, where he used to talk about with Gem Beast Emerald Turtle before. Realizing that here is Duel Academia certainly, Gem Beast Emerald Turtle moves its eyes around and sees many kids it hasn't seen before. Johan asks it to do well. Besides, he warns it that if they underestimate today opponent, they may be beaten up. Gem Beast Emerald Turtle sees Judai standing in front, noting that he has such unusually strong and good look in his eyes.

Judai is very excited and impressed after seeing Johan talking to the spirit of the monster. Johan replies, "Because it's my friend, No!, my family". Judai looks happy when he realizes that Duel Monsters are Johan's family. It's such a cool concept that really interests Judai. Anyway, Kenzan doesn't understand what Judai has been talking for a while, and Manjyome thinks it should be just a nonsense sociable commission. Setting up a face-down card, Johan ends his turn.

The turn comes to Judai. Drawing a card, he gets N-Aqua Dolphin. The cards on the other hands are E-Hero Neos, O-Over Soul, N-Groun Mole, Contact, and Fake Hero. Judai decides to summon [N-Aqua Dolphin - 3/600/800: Once per turn, by discarding 1 card from your hand, look at your opponent's hand and select 1 Monster Card in it. If there is a monster on your side of the field with ATK greater than or equal to the ATK of the selected monster, destroy the selected Monster Card and inflict 500 damage to your opponent. If there is no monster on your side of the field with ATK greater than or equal to the ATK of the selected monster, take 500 damage] onto the field in attack position.

Johan is very impressed by the appearance of Hero, Neo Spacian, from the universe that he has heard from some rumor. Even the new students are surprised. Although it's an alien, it's such a great and impressive legendary monster. Judai then sends a monster, E-Hero Neos, into the cemetery to activate the special effect of N-Aqua Dolphin, Echolocation. N-Aqua launches sound beam towards cards on Johan's hand to identify them. There appear Amethyst, Cobalt, Ruby monsters and a spell card on his hand.

By the special effect of N-Aqua Dolphin, Judai can select and destroy a monster, which has lower attack points than N-Aqua Dolphin, on Johan's hand and inflict 500 direct damages to Johan. As a result, Gem Beast Ruby Carbuncle with 300 attack points on Johan's hand is selected and destroyed as Johan's LP decreases to 3500 (4000-500). Johan certainly gets mad when his Gem Beast Ruby Carbuncle is gone.

Continuously, Judai plays the spell card [O-Over Soul - Spell: Special summon 1 Normal Monster that includes E-Hero in its name from your Graveyard] to normal summon a monster from the cemetery. Johan realizes that Judai just discarded a card into the graveyard probably for this purpose. As a whole, [E-Hero Neos - 7/2500/2000] is summoned onto the field in attack position.

Induced Summon Trap Card

Johan sees E-Hero Neos very cool. If this wasn't during the duel, he would ask it for sinature. Anyway, Johan tells Judai that he has waited for this moment when Judai summoned the new monster. Johan opens his face-down trap card [Induced Summon ~ Trap: Yuuhatsu ShoukanYou can activate this card when a monster is Special Summoned on your opponent's side of the field. Both players Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from their respective hand]. This card can be activated when Judai could special summon a monster, E-Hero Neos. It allows both sides to special summon a monster with level 4 or less from their hands.

Judai feels relieved and surprised because he first thought that his E-Hero Neos might be destroyed by the trap card. Gem Beast Emerald Turtle notes that Johan isn't a person doing something like that. Johan explains that he doesn't have any card with ability to destroy the opponents' cards but only counter cards in his deck. To destroy a monster by effects is easy for him, but he doesn't want to do so. Johan perfers seeing the whole power of his opponents so that both sides can fully play and show off their strength. It's the duel type that he aims to. Judai even feels convinced that Johan is such an interesting guy. Here is what Gem Beasts said(I know that I wasn't asked to but i'll do it since I have some time and Horoko hasn't put it up yet)

Judai	Haa! I am surprised. I thought Neos would have been destroyed suddenly.
Emerald Turtle	Ha ha ha! Would Johan be able to do such a thing?
Johan	In my deck, except for Counter Cards, I don't put any card with ability to destroy the opponents' cards.
Judai	Hah!?
Johan	To destroy monsters by effects is easy. But it's the same as sealing before seeing the possibility of the opponent. Whenever, I always want to see the whole power of the opponent. Then, the power held by both sides can be performed fully. That's the duel I aim to.
Judai	Haa! He is really an interesting guy.
Johan	Come on, Judai! Summon your new monsters!

Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle Monster Card

According to the effect of Induced Summon, Judai decides to summon [N-Groun Mole - 3/900/300: Return this card and your opponent's monster to their respective owner's hands after this card has conducted battle] onto the field in attack position. On the other hand, Johan summons [Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle ~ Hougyokujyuu Cobalt Eagle - 4/?/800: {When this card is destroyed, instead of sending it to the Graveyard, you can place it face-up in your Spell/Trap Card Zones. When this card is in your Spell/Trap Card Zone it is treated as a Continuous Spell Card.}] onto the field in defense position.

Like Gem Beast Emerald Turtle, a blue gemstone appears on the field before it is broken into the form of Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle. Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle notes that there are many galleries (audiences) today. Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle calls it Eagle and tells it not to become reckless.

Judai quickly declares the effect of E-Hero Neos to destroy Gem Beast Emerald Turtle, continuing by the attack of N-Groun Mole against Gem Beast Cobalt Eagle. Finally, he declares the strike of N-Aqua Dolphin against Johan directly. Johan gets the direct punch from N-Aqua Dolphin, so his LP decreases to 2900 (3500-600). Kenzan is glad to see that Judai could finally beat all Gem Beasts. However, Manjyome thinks that it isn't finished yet. Smoke is now covering around the duel stage after the triple attacks of Judai.

As the smoke is clear, there reveal two gemstones, Emerald and Cobalt, on Johan's field. Judai is very curious what they are. Anyway, N-Aqua Dolphin notes that Gem Beasts should be already defeated. Johan feels sorry to Judai before explaining the special effects of Gem Beasts. When Gem Beasts are destroyed, they become crystal and remain face-up in Johan's spell or trap card zone. Asuka notes that this means if those gemstones are not removed or eliminated, there is no way to beat Gem Beasts. Jim sees it such a wonderful monster as Amon looks amazed by the type of monster that he has never seen before.

Judai obviously looks very excited, seeing Johan's monsters very great. His spirit then burns up in flame. Johan tells him, "This is the power inside Gem Beasts. For me, It's the power that has never left the duel!". His fighting spirit is also burning up. Meanwhile, Professor Cobra is still standing in dark room around a strange formation of black liquid emerging from the glass container that is holding glowing orange plasma floating inside. He then begins to laugh sinisterly.
