episode 2 translated by Janime

The candidates who passed the entrance exam are brought to the Duel Academy located on the southern Pacific Ocean upon an isolated island. They are ready in a main hall, preparing for the orientation. Then the principle appears on screen to give his speech to the new students. He welcomes people who passed the exam with capabilities. Also, he hopes that everybody will enjoy dreaming of becoming a duel king here. While the principle is talking, Judai isn't listening at all; instead, he is sleeping.

After the orientation, Judai and Sho are checking their information through digital palms given by the school. They figure out that there are three dormitories in this school while they are in [Osiris Red]. Judai asks whether Daichi is also in Osiris Red. Showing his yellow uniform, Daichi tells Judai that he is in [Ra Yellow]. Thus, Judai has just acknowledged that the costume is also divided by the dorm color. Anyway, Daichi doesn't understand why such a person like Judai is in Osiris Red (he calls Judai No.1-Kun or Ichiban-Kun). Judai tells Daichi to try his best in this school, so does he. Before leaving, Daichi points Judai to Osiris Red dorm on the opposite side.

Sho is very amzed by the Osiris Dorm that looks terrible. However, Judai seems pleased with the environment of the dorm closing to the sea. They enter into a sharing room that looks a bit narrow. Staying together in the room, Sho imagines some relationship between him and Judai like Pharaoh and the priest Seto. Because Judai did great in his duel, Sho admires him as Pharaoh. Nevertheless, Judai feels weird by that word, thus Sho prefers calling him brother (Aniki). In fact, Judai doens't think that there is no top or bottom level among duelists. All people are rivals who aim to the same duel king title. Therefore, Judai hopes that he and Sho will try their best together at this school.

Then Judai moves to open a curtain, and sunlight glares in. Suddenly, there is voice of a mysterious guy who tells him to close the curtain because he is sleeping. Judai says sorry because he wasn't aware of anybody else. The guy is sleeping on the third bed floor, getting up and showing his appearance. Judai and Sho are suddenly shocked by the appearance of Koala. Of course, the guy is getting mad by that word, introducing his name [Maeda Hayato]. Thus, Judai and Sho introduce themselves back. Hayato turns back to sleep again, asking whether Judai and Sho understand the real meaning to Osiris Red. He explains that Red means Red zone of dangerous people. In the Duel Academy, there is divided into three main dormitories - Obelisk Blue, Ra Yellow, and Osiris Red - by record. Obelisk is reserved for the excellent record group from the middle class section. A new student who takes the high section test and gets the top rank is put into Ra Yellow. The last one, Osiris Red, is reserved for the drop-out students. In other words, the students in this dorm hardly have hope for their prosperous future at this school at all.

Sho

What is this? Only Osiris Red Dorm is terrible.

Judai

Is that so? Here has such a good view and environment. Here! Here! Here is our room.

Sho

It is a sharing room, isn't it!

Judai

Heee...I hasn't expected that it is narrow, but there is problem to stay. I like such a place like this.

Sho

Two people in a room appear as if we have some relation. This also seems as if we change our appearances into ancient Eqyptian Pharaoh and the priest Seto. Because you did well at the admission exam, Judai is supposed to be called Pharaoh.

Judai

Pharaoh sounds weird to me.

Sho

How about brother [Aniki - Big brother]

Judai

Amongs Duelists, there is no top or bottom, but simply rival.

Sho

But you always...

Judai

That is...we are aiming to become a duel king, so we had better try our best together.

Judai opens the curtain.

Hayato

How glaring! Close the curtain!

Sho

There is one more guy, isn't there?

Judai

Sorry, I wasn't aware of him.

Hayato

I was dreaming...

Judai, Sho

Koala!

Hayato

Don't call me Koala! I am Maeda Hayato!

Judai

Sorry, I am Yuki Judai.

Sho

I am Marufuji Sho.

Hayato

Do you konw the real meaning of red color of Osiris Red?

Judai

No.

Sho

Is there any meaning?

Hayato

Red means red zone of dangerous people.

Judai, Sho

???

Hayato

In the Duel Academy, it is divided into three dormitories by record. They are Obelisk Blue, Ra Yellow, and Osiris Red. Obelisk is reserved for the excellent record group from the middle class section. A new student who takes the high section test and gets the top rank is put into Ra Yellow.

Sho

So, Osiris Red means...?

Hayato

It is the place for very useless drop-out group.

Sho

Heee....

Hayato

Have you got it yet? Having sent and staying here, you have no future at all.

Sho and Judai leave the dorm, walking along the cliff on the island. Sho is very worried about what Hayato said. However, Judai really likes red color. Everything is going start from now on, so he hasn't left his hope yet. Hearing what Judai said, Sho gains his fighting spirit back. He intends to do his best from this point on, too. While Sho turns back to Judai, he sees Judai running toward the main hall without listening to his words. Thus, Sho has to run after him. Judai is looking for a duel field. He thinks that it should be inside the main dome. Sho doesn't understand how Judai can know that, so Judai tells him that he can smell the duel (he knows by his instinct).

After that both of them enter into a duel stage hall and see a duel field. Sho is very impressed by the new duel field system, hoping that he can duel here. Therefore, Judai tells him to start the duel at once. Then, two students from Obelisk Blue, Manjyome's friends, come in to stop them, claiming that this isn't the place for drop-out students form Osiris Red. They point out to an Obelisk sign that means this place belongs to Obelisk Blue. As a result, Sho says sorry because he hasn't known this before. He tells Judai to leave the place. Instead, Judai thinks that if he can't play with Sho, he can plays with Obelisk Blue students. In other words, he is asking for a game with them. Of course, no one is expecting that. Then a student calls Manjyome (Jun) that the number 110 who defeated Professor Chronos has come. When Manjyome appears, Judai introduces himself and asks who Manjyome is. At this moment, Manjyome is getting mad by that Judai didn't know who he is. Thus, Manjyome's friends tell Judai that Manjyome is an elite of Obelisk Blue or the future duel king. He is also the number duelist. Judai seems not to accept because the number one must be himself. Certainly, everybody laughs at Judai who doesn't look at himself, a drop-out boy. Manjyome then tells their friends to stop. He remembered Judai who did beat Professor Chronos on the exam date. Judai tells him that it was his real power, so Manjyome would like to see it. At the same time, Asuka comes in, asking what people are going to do. Manjyome understands that Asuka is going to stop this duel and claiming for restrict rules of the school. Asuka tells him that a welcome party is going to start, too. Therefore, Manjyome and his friends leave the place. Asuka warns Judai to be aware of what Manjyome provodes, yet Judai seems not to be worried at all and wonders why Asuka is very nice to him. Then Asuka smiles and tells Judai that the welcome party should be ready at his dorm, too. As a result, Judai and Sho hurry to return to their dorm for the big meal. Before leaving, Judai asks Asuku for her name and also introduces his name.

Judai

Probably, it is here...

Sho

How do you know that it is here, brother?

Judai

Smell....smell! Smell of Duel!

Sho

Hee....Smell of Duel? Ah!! is that good to get in?

Judai

Ohh! How great!

Sho

Haaa! This is the newest equipment of duel field, isn't it!? The equipment also provides a system for a new battlefield. It looks very great. I would like to try dueling here.

Judai

So, let's do it.

Sho

Is that good?

Judai

What are you talking about? We are students here.

Jun's friend

That you were talking about may be impossible here.

Jun's friend

Here is not the place for drop-out boys from Osiris Red to come. Look up there!

Jun's friend

Don't you see the crest of Obelisk?

Sho Sorry, we didn't know that. Let's go back, brother!
Judai

Umm...this doesn't get on well. Jya...why don't you make a game with me (instead)? That is okey, right?

Jun's friend

Who is thinking about that?

Jun's friend

Manjyome-San! No.110 who defeated Professor Chronos has come here.

Judai

Ah! I am Yuki Judai. Nice to meet you. And that guy is...?

Jun's friend

Don't you know Manjyome-San? He is the same first-year student, the head, and the number one of the elites.

Jun's friend

He is the future duel king, Manjyome Jun-Sama.

Judai

How weird! Duel king is the number one, right? Number one of this school is me!

Jun's friend

Ha ha ha! A drop-out boy like you? Why don't you look at yourself?

Manjyome stops his friends' talking.

Jun

Those guys.... at the duel on the exam date, he could beat Professor Chronos.

Judai

That was my real power.

Jun

Hi hi! Let me see that real power here.

Judai

Good!

Asuka

What are all of you doing here?

Sho

Ah! What a pretty girl!

Jun

Tenjyoin-Kun, are you going to tell me that this trial is restricted, aren't you? You are also going to tell me about strictness of this school...

Asuka

It is time for welcome party at the dorm, isn't it?

Jun and his friends leave and return to their dorm.

Each dorm has already started its welcome party. People seems to enjoy their big meal except people in Osiris Red who are facing a bad meal. While people are complaining, a grey long hair guy appears from the kitchen. He introduces himself [Daitokuchi teacher-sensei] as an in charge of this dorm from now on. Anyway, Judai seems not to listen again, enjoying with the yummy meal. Sho tries to tell Judai for his improper manner while the teacher is speaking. Then the teacher walks toward him, and he doesn't care about Judai's act at all.

At the room, Judai is very full by the meal. He wondered why people didn't have the meal as he did. Only Judai felt that the meal was great. Sho made some tea for Judai and Hayato. Nevertheless, Hayato merely keeps sleeping and refuses the tea. He also knows that the meal was bad. Anyway, Judai isn't pleased with Hayato's act to refuses the tea that Sho made for him. Meanwhile, Judai receives an e-message from Manjyome, so he opens and reads it.

"Yaah, Drop-out boy! I am waiting for you tonight at 12.00 AM at the duel field. This is an anti-rule duel that both sides have to bet by their best cards. Come if you dare!"

Judai feels that this duel should be fun. However, Hayato thinks that Judai may not be active for a long period.

At night, Judai and Sho go the duel field following Manjyome's message. Sho tries to remind Judai of what Asuka warned before about Manjyome; however, Judai isn't worried about it. When both of them enter into the duel field, they see Manjyome and his friends waiting for them there. Manjyome would like to see the real power that Judai applied to defeat Professor Chronos. On the contrary, Judai would like too power of an elite, too. Before the game starts, Manjyome reminds him of the rule of this game again; the loser must give his best card to the winner according to the anti-rule. Then both Judai and Manjyome standby their duel disks, beginning the duel.

Hell Polymer
Trap Card

First turn comes to Manjyome. Drawing a card, he summons [Reborn Zombie 4/1200/1600 ] in a defense mode. Setting a card, he ends his turn. Manjyome thinks that the duel between Osiris Red and Obelisk Blue has already been determined; Obelisk Blue is always greater. However, Judai thinks the duel is not only a brain but also a heart. When Judai draws a card, he has just noticed that he's got his partner, Hane Kuriboh, on hand. Playing a magic card [Polymerization] to fuse [E-Hero Featherman] and [E-Hero Burst Lady], Judai can summon specially [E-Hero Flame Wingman 8/2100/1800] in an attack position onto the field. Of course, this is his favourite card. Anyway, this is what Manjyome has expected before; Judai has already been in his trap. At this moment, Manjyome opens his trap card [Hell Polymer]. While Sho is still amazed by an effect of Hell Polymer, Asuka walks in and explains that Hell Polymer can be activated when a fusion monster is summoned. If the player sacrifice a monster on his field, he can gain control one of the fusion monster. That means Manjyome sacrifices Reborn Zombie to gain control E-Hero Flame Wingman of Judai. E-Hero Flame Wingman has become a monster on Manjyome field.

summary - second period
episode 2 translated by Janime

Manjyome has known Judai's play from his duel against Professor Chronos. He had known that Judai plays the fusion monster, so he made the trap for it. Because fusion summon is considered a special summon, so Judai is allowed to summon normally another monster. He also understands that he has no monster that can withstand power of E-Hero Flame Wingman on his hand now. Besides, Judai may get a direct damage if his summoned monster is destroyed by E-Hero Flame Wingman due to E-Hero Flame Wingman's special effect. Anyway, Judai summons [E-Hero Flame Wingman 4/800/2000] in a defense mode and ends his turn.

Come to Manjyome's turn. Drawing a card, he summons [Hell Soldier 4/1200/1000] in an attack mode. After that he declares the attack of E-Hero Flame Wingman (2100) against E-Hero Clayman (def 2000). By the effect of E-Hero Flame Wingman, it does direct damage to Judai equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster, E-Hero Clayman (800/2000). As a result, Judai's LP goes down to 3200 (4000-800). When Judai has no wall monster left, Manjyome lets Hell Soldier (1200) attack Judai directly. Therefore, Judai's LP goes down to 2000 (3200-1200). Setting a card, Manjyome ends his turn.

E-Hero Sparkman
Monster Card

Manjyome calls Judai "No.110" to continue the game. Although Judai got the serious attack, he still enjoys the duel as usual. In his turn, he draws a card and summons [E-Hero Sparkman 4/1600/1400] in an attack mode. Of course, he lets it attack Hell Soldier (1200) at once. Thus, Manjyome's LP goes down to 3600 (4000+1200-1600). However, by a special effect of Hell Soldier, it can deal direct damage to Judai equal to the amount of battle damage received. That means Judai has to receive the same damage (400) that Manjyome got, so his LP goes down to 1600 (2000-400). After that Judai sets up a reversed card and ends his turn. At his point, Sho is getting worried about Judai, calling him his brother until Asuka misunderstands their relationship. Therefore, Sho explains to Asuka that Judai isn't his brother by family blood. He just calls him his brother because he feels it inside his heart.

Hell Blast
Magic Card

Manjyome claims that he is going to win at the next turn. He draws a card and declares the attack of E-Hero Flame Wingman (2100) against E-Hero Sparkman (1600) at once. Suddenly, Judai opens his reversed trap card [Dimension Tunnel Mirror Gate - Ichigen Tunnel Mirror Gate] that can be activated in the battle phase. By its effect, when Manjyome attacks, it switches control of the attacking monster and the attacked Monster. Afterwards, the battle is conducted as normal. In other words, E-Hero Flame Wingman switches its side with E-Hero Sparkman. E-Hero Sparkman appears on Manjyome's field and continues the attack against E-Hero Flame Wingman on Judai's field. As a result, Manjyome's LP goes down to 3100 (3600+1600-2100). Furthermore, according to the special effect of E-Hero Flame Wingman, Manjyome has to receive additional direct damage points equal to the attack points of E-Hero Sparkman. Consequently, his LP significantly goes to 1500 (3100-1600). Sho is very impressed by Judai's great play. Manjyome is getting annoyed by drop-out Judai, keeping on playing a magic card [Hell Blast] that can be activated when all of the monsters on the field are destroyed. It allows Manjyome to destroy a monster on Judai's field and deal direct damage equal to a half of the destroyed monster attack points to Judai. In other words, E-Hero Flame Wingman of Judai is destroyed and Judai's LP decreases to 550 (1600-2100/2). After that, Manjyome opens his reversedly continuous trap card [Call of the Haunted - Living Dead of Yobi Koe]. It allows Manjyome to select a monster from his graveyard and summon it specially in an attack position. As a result, Manjyome chooses to summon Hell Soldier back onto the field. Then he sacrifices it to summon [Mefist the Infernal General 5/1800/1700] onto the field. At this moment, Manjyome is certain by 99% that he is the winner, so he claims for Judai's best card under the anti-rule. However, Judai hasn't left his 1% last change yet. He hears the voice of Hane Kurioh that cheers him up again; therefore, he won't give up easily. Come to Judai's turn. He draws his last card and gets the key card to win this game.

At this time, Asuka feels some guard coming. Thus, she tells to people to leave at once because the anti-rule duel and staying over time are against the school rule. Judai seems to know nothing about it, so Asuka asks whether he hasn't read any student guide. Manjyome has just noticed that Asuka has been looking for his duel; he feels glad with it. Consequently, the game has to be finished here. Manjyome is still sure about his victory while Judai is stubborn to continue the duel. Manjyome doesn't care about him because he has already seen Judai's real power. Then Manjyome and his friends leave the battlefield. However, Judai still insists to stay without listening to what Asuka or Sho says. After that, the three guards walk into the duel field and see nobody.

Judai, Asuka, and Sho leave the duel field in time. Sho has to push Judai and force him to leave there. Asuka is glad to see that Judai's important card is safe from the anti-rule duel. Conversely, Judai claims that he should have exactly won this game because his final card was Monster Reborn. This means if Judai had played it to regenerate E-Hero Flame Wingman (2100) from his graveyard, Mefist the Infernal General (1800) would have been destroyed and Manjyome's LP would have gone down to 1200 (1500+1800-2100). After that, Manjyome's LP would have gone to 0 (1200-1800) by the direct damage of Mefist the Infernal General (1800) following E-Hero Flame Wingman's special effect. Judai should have become the real winner, so feels pity to this duel. Asuka sees that Judai is such an interesting boy. Then Judai and Sho walk back to their dorm.
