Yu Gi Oh Duel Monster Generation Next (GX)


After the original story in comic ended completely, by 38 volumes and 343 episodes, at the beginning 2004, Yu Gi Oh in anime series follows this destination by the last series of Pharaoh memory and the ceremonial battle. When Yami Yugi and little Yugi perform the final duel in their ceremonial battle and then Yami Yugi leaves their friends forever, the anime story will be ended with 224 episodes in total.

However, the anime production hasn't finished the story yet. New series is titled Yu Gi Oh Duel Monster Generation Next (GX) is broadcasted weekly on the same schedule of the original series in Japan. The main character in this series is named "Yuki Juudai" (Juudai = Teenages, Yu=fun, game, play, Ki=fortress, castle). This is a new series out off original comic story of Kazuki Takahashi. Anyway, it is apparent that the creator also joins the anime team to design characters in this new series. Besides, this series doesn't involve the original story in anime or comic. In other words, it is the original anime of Yu Gi Oh Duel Monster, dealing with the duelist academy (Duelist Yousei School). Yami Yugi, Jyonouchi, and other characters don't play any role in the new series although their names are partially mentioned.

The story is regarding a life of a teenage, Yuki Juudai, who inherits a card, Hane Kuribo, from a legendary duelist, Mutou Yugi. He has to learn many things and face many duelist at the duelist academy. Of course, his big dream is to become the number one or the duel king of the Duel Academia.

Duel Academia - Duel Yousei School



[Duel Academia] was established by Kaiba. It is located on a solitude southern island. The main purpose of this school is to gather talent elites and create great duelists and game designers. In order to attend this school, candidates have to pass writing test and duel test. The writing test ranks the candidates by number following their test scores (1 is the best down to 100 numbers). After the paper test, the candidates have to duel against examiners. Although they win the game, they may not be approved if the total score is bad.

The Duel Academia contains around 50 per grade or around 150 in total. It is divided into three main dormitories: Obelisk Blue, Ra Yellow, and Osiris Red.

The top rank is Obelisk Blue dorm where contains most of the elites like Manjyome Jun, Marufuji Ryo, and Tenjyoin Asuka. Professor Chronos is the head of this dorm. The next rank is Ra Yellow where contains new students with high exam scores like Misawa Daichi. The lowest rank is Osiris Red where is the resident of drop-out students: Yuki Judai, Marufuji Sho, and Maeda Hayato. Each dorm provides different facilities; certainly, Osiris Red seems to be the most poor dormitory.

[Yuki Judai] does the bad exam paper, so he gets the number 110, which is a very low level number. Although he can beat Professor Chronos perfectly on the duel exam, he is still considered a drop-out student, who has to stay at Osiris Red.

Duel Disk Development



Portable and movable duel disk is the original innovation of Kaiba Corporation. In the original Duel Monster series, Kaiba develops a lot of simulation technique to present a duel. The early table duel is developed into a movable classic duel disk that a player can attach it into his or her arm. It's easy to carry on and keep back after using. This same standard duel disk is used for the whole original series of Yu Gi Oh.
