GX has come to the third year when Judai,
Asuka, Manjoume, and Sho have become the third-year high
school students. Kenzan has also gone to the second-year
in high school, following by the new first-year student,
[Saotome Rei], returning
from Season I to join the gang. The new journey of Judai
starts by coming of many new transfer students who
are the champions of other Duel Acedemias: [Johan
Anderson], [Austin O'Brien],
[Amon Garam], and [Jim
Crocodile Cook]. Principal Samejima also invites
[Professor Cobra] to become
a temp professor at the school. This Season III can be
divided into many parts based on the main villians and stories
as following:
[First Part - Disclosure
Duel]
It is the skill disclosure system for open
duels regardless of dorms or grades. In this duel, a wristbelt called
[Dis-Belt] is provided to
each duelist. It collects duel data, fighting spirit,
concentration, and decision, of a player to the center operation.
If the result shows that the student doesn't sustain sufficient
fighting spirit, he or she will be degraded and finally
fired from the school.
On the first day when new transfer students
are on board, Professor Cobra announces a new duel system
with restricted rules that will be applied to all students
this year. It's called [Disclosure
Duel].
Dis-Belt can gather not only player's data
but also duel energy. A person whose duel energy is absorbed
at the end of the game will get exhausted and lose his
power. Professor Cobra applies Disclosure Duel to encourage
the students to keep on fighting and enhancing their fighting
spirit for larger duel energy.
The
Mysterious Monster - The Eye
There is a lot of mystery in this season related to Judai.
One of them is The Eye of a mysterious monster that seems
to be behind the whole story. It has kept calling Judai
as its dear person since the beginning of Season III.
It has been waiting for the date it will meet Judai. Professor
Cobra once found a devil arm on an island. That devil
arm is actually a part of this eye monster, having an
ability to see darkness in people's mind.
In order for the devil arm to revive fully, it needs energy. Therefore, it makes a deal
with Professor Cobra to revive his dead son in exchange
of duel energy. Professor Cobra is used without knowing
the fact that he will die at the end.
What for have
I been dueling?
This is the question that Judai really wants to know the
answer. Professor Satou points out this question seriously
for him that Judai must have some reason of dueling but
he just hasn't realized it yet. Judai has been very concerned
about answering this question since then. Surprisingly,
the one who seems to know the answer is The Eye of the
mysterious monster. It says that it will tell Judai one
day what for he has been dueling. This seems to show that
Judai has some relation with The Eye.
The End of
Part 1
The main duel of part 1 is the duel between Judai and
Professor Cobra that takes around 3 episodes. Judai is
threatened by venom of Professor Cobra, but he can finally
gain victory by his new E-Hero monsters. At that time,
Judai has just realized that Professor Cobra has been
manipulated by the devil arm he discovered on an island.
The devil arm exercises duel energy Professor Cobra has
collected, moving Judai, his friends, many students,
and Duel Academia into a different world surrounding by
desert. Here seems to be the end of the first journey
before Judai and his friends are going to face more fearful
journey in an unfamiliar world.
[Second Part - Zombie
Academia]
In
Season II, Saiou shows Judai the destruction future of
the school by the picture of Duel Academia building located
on desert. Judai tells Saiou at that time that the future
hasn't happened yet, so he believes that he can change
it. It seems that Judai can't change this destiny. Saiou's
prediction becomes real in Season III. After the duel
between Judai and Professor Cobra, there appears bright
light and everybody finds himself in this world suddenly.
If
we remember, this kind of world has appeared once
in Season I. During episode
27 and 28,
Judai and his friends are brought to gravekeeper's place.
We can also see the same three suns. At that time, the
portal to original world can be open when the three suns
become one.
Only Duel Academia along with some groups of
students have been transferred to this different world.
Nobody knows what the three suns are or what this world
is. Anyway, Judai and his friends have only a week to
get out off this world. Otherwise, food will run out and
they will be starve to death.
Rainbow Dragon
It has become a key card to bring everybody back to the
original world. It is the final card in Johan's deck to
make his Gem Beast deck complete. By the help of Misawa,
Hell Kaiser, Edo, and many people in the original world,
Rainbow Dragon's lithograph is finally discovered and
its card is created and sent to the different world. Johan
has to activate its tremendous power to open the path
linking to the original world. The way to activate it
is letting it battle potential opponent or the three legendary demons
of Martin.
The Devil
Arm - Yubel
Because Professor Cobra already passed away and didn't
come to this different world, the devil arm selects Rei's
close friend or Vice Principal Napoleon's son, [Kanou
Martin], who seems to have much darkness in his
mind, to become its body. Martin begins his operation
by changing the students into duel zombies. If people
duel, they will lose duel energy by their Dis-Belts still
activating. If their energy run off, they will become
a duel zombie who thinks of nothing but duel.
Judai and his friends have to run away from
these zombi duelists and find the way back to the original
world. Many people including Sho, Manjoume, Professor
Chronos, Vice Principal Napoleon, and Teacher Ayukawa,
miss and become duel zombies.
The purpose of Martin or the devil arm is
to collect the three legendary demon cards and duel energy from
the zombi students. The actual spirit of the devil arm
finally appears in the last duel, and it is [Yubel],
a card that used to be Judai's ace card when he was young.
Yubel loved Judai and harmed people making him upset.
However, Judai by some reason sent Yubel into the space. Yubel suffered
in the space for years before returning to the earth.
Her body was destroyed, and there remained only her devil
arm. Thus, she has to take control Professor Cobra and
people in order to obtain sufficient energy to revive
her body. Now, it's time for Yubel to claim Judai for
herself.
The End of
Part 2
The main duel of part 2 is the duel between Martin taken
control by Yubel and Judai/Johan. Martin obtains the power
of the three legendary demons, but Johan can oppose by the power
of his complete deck with Rainbow Dragon. Rainbow Dragon
is the key of this game. The battle becomes so intense
that creates sufficient energy to bring everybody back
to the original world. However, because of the result
of the game, Johan doesn't return. Here seems to be the
end of part 2 when people can return to the original world
safely.
[Third Part - Dark World]
People have returned to the original world
safely, and they are all released from being duel zombies.
However, the sad story is that Johan didn't returned after
his Rainbow Dragon's power was activated. Judai is very
upset and always blames himself. Because of his story
with Yubel, Johan has to be a victim. Thus, he plans to
return to the different world again in order to save Johan.
His friends know the whole story and Judai's relationship
with Yubel. They certainly can't let Judai act alone and
decide to follow him to look for Johan as well.
Judai can finally return to the different
world by his friends' help. However, the world looks different
from what he has come before. It's like the real world
of duel monsters. Judai strongly believes that Johan must
exist somewhere in this world. Here is the beginning part
of a new journey to search for Johan.
Judai rushes himself to search for his dear
friend without hesitating. He moves forward even without
waiting for anybody. Besides him, Edo, Hell Kaiser, Jim,
O'Brien, Asuka, Manjoume, Sho, Kenzan, Misawa, Ekou, and
Professor Chronos have also been brought into this world.
People are separate, but they have the same goal to look
for Johan and join Judai as soon as possible. Anyway,
they have to face many mysterious monsters and Supreme
King, who then appears to be one of their dear friend.
The Way to Darkness
This different world is full of darkness. Monsters live by levels: higher-level monsters dominate the lower-level ones. Any duel is real. If a person loses, he will die by turning into particles of light and disappearing. Any damage can also cause actual injury. Judai understands this cruel rule very well, so he tries to avoid letting his friends duel but approaching into a duel by himself. He tries to claim responsiblity by himself and searching for Johan by himself. That's the beginning of his path to darkness.
Because Judai feels responsible for Johan, he rushes himself to find him without concerning about his friends coming with him. His friends are in unstable condition and uncertain feeling about real death in this world, but Judai doesn't seem to care about their feeling. He instead moves forward to save Johan and people in this world captured or dominated by high-level monsters without listening to his friends. His act causes everybody to feel uncertain about him, and they begin to think that Judai is selfish.
Supreme King - Judai
The first climax comes in the duel between Judai and Brron, Mad King of Dark World. Judai approaches into the duel with Brron without waiting for his friends, so his friends are captured and sacrificed in the game. Manjoume, Fubuki, Asuka, and Kenzan all die and turn into particles of light. Before they die, they burst out their stress to Judai and say how selfish Judai is. They claim that Judai actually doesn't care about anybody but himself. He just wants to win for himself not for anyone. The proof is that Judai has never listened to anybody since he came to this world.
After Judai completely loses trust from his dear friends, he eventually turns dark and becomes the ruler of this different world. The spirit of [Supreme King ~ Haoh] captures his dark heart and changes him into Supreme King Judai who hunts duelists' souls. He appears again in an armor suit with evilly golden eyes. His actual soul is confined in darkness, having full of sadness, despair, and pain of losing friends. In darkness, Judai is hunted by the spirits of Professor Satou and Professor Cobra who used to tell Judai that he lacked something as a qualified duelist. They claimed that Judai dueled for nothing but fun. He didn't hold any stress or responsibility, so this type of duelist couldn't do serious duel and win. Judai believed for long that he held expectation of his friends, so he kept on winning. However, when he found that nobody was finally by his side, he was very confused by the result and would like to know what exactly he was missing as a qualified duelist. The one who gives him the answer is the spirit of Supreme King currently taking control his mind and body. Supreme King guides Judai to defeat evil by becoming an evil himself. That's the story of how Supreme King Judai was born.
Who is actually Supreme King? Everyone
has both good and bad sides, so has Judai. Supreme King
is his evil or bad form of mind against his heroic side.
This form contains such a tremendous power that even
Judai himself is scared of. Because it's his dark side,
he is trying to avoid facing and using it. However, in
order to defeat Yubel, he finally woke up Supreme King
power by himself and controlled it. When he could
combine his heroic and evil sides together, he could
become true Judai.
On the other hand, Supreme King can
represent Judai's seriousness. For time long, Judai has
dueled like a kid because he always enjoyed dueling and
having fun. He has never thought what for he has been
dueling. Anyway, heroes come with responsibility. It's
time for Judai to be serious about duel and grow up by
the power of Supreme King.
Eye of Orichalcum
The artificial eye attached under the bandage of Jim's right eye is called [Eye of Orichalcum ~ Orichalcum No Monako]. Jim got this eye in the accidence when he was a child. He tried to save Karen from an animal trap and fell into the river. His eye has been attached with Eye of Orichalcum since then. There was a mysterious old man who told him at that time that Eye of Orichalcum would help Jim make a miracle whenever he wanted to save his friend.
Jim uses the power of Eye of Orichalcum to get into Judai's dark mind and finds that Judai's heart is taken control by words of Supreme King. Therefore, he tries to pull Judai out from darkness by duel, keeping calling Judai repeatedly. Sadly, Judai's heart seems to be very seriously hurt. He doesn't hear any word of Jim and still loses himelf in a duel. As a Supreme King Judai, he defeats Jim violently or kills his dear friend by himself. Eye of Orichalcum is finally transferred to O'Brien. Jim hopes that O'Brien will use this eye to save Judai from darkness.
Revive of Hero & Final Battles
By the help of Jim and O'Brien, Supreme King is dead while Judai is saved. However, Judai falls into sorrow after realizing everything he did to his friends. The fallen hero doesn't have much time to be upset while true enemies and whole truth are waiting ahead. Misawa has covered that someone is trying to conbine dimensional worlds together and rule them all. The person behind the whole story and chaos is actually Yubel who takes control Johan's body. Like Judai who turns into the evil form of Supreme King, Johan turns evil by the possession of Yubel and plays his new Advaned Gem Beast deck. Meanwhile, Amon releases the seal of Exodia the Forbidden One to have it be his servant in order to be the king of the different world.
While Judai isn't in good condition, his remaining friends, Edo and Hell Kaiser, support him pretty well. Edo tries to save everyone from Exodia the Forbidden and finally dies sadly. Without thinking of his health getting worse due to the underground duels, Hell Kaiser plays a bad-role person to bring Judai's fighting spirit back. His time is almost up, so he makes the decisive duel against Johan taken control by Yubel. It's his final duel in which he wants to present his living for eternity. Judai still blames himself for the cause of the whole story because he is the real target of Yubel. Currently, he doesn't have enough power to be against her. However, when his and inner Supreme King's hearts can become one, Judai can completely revive. Everything depends on the final battle between him and Yubel, and here is the ending theme for Season III.
Yubel -
Judai Past Lives
The whole truth is reviewed in the very final episodes
of Season III. Yubel and Judai used to meet each other
in their past lives. In his past
life, Judai was a little prince who obtained Supreme
King power still sealed inside his mind. Yubel was a
little boy and Judai's friend. One day, the king talked
to Yubel that Judai obtained the power of darkness or
Supreme King power that would be able to fight the light
of ruin and save the universe. However, someone needed
to protect him until he grew up. In order to do so, that
person had to be transformed into a hideous and
unsightly dragon. Yubel volunteered to be Judai's
protector forever, so he was transformed into the dragon
monster.
Little Prince Judai was very sorry to
Yubel who sacrificed himself in order to protect him. At
that time, Judai gave a promise that he would love Yubel
forever and would also grow up to be an adult from a kid.
Unfortunately, Judai seemed to forget
everything when he was born into the current world. The
final duel against Yubel could remind him of this
promise and his relationship with Yubel. It's his fault
that he sent Yubel into the space until Yubel received
the wave of destruction light instead of the wave of
kind darkness. To finish the sad story of Yubel, Judai
decides to fuse his and her hearts together so that they
can be together forever. That's the end of Season III.
