EPISODE SUMMARY - PART 1

The battle between the Signers and the Dark Signers has officially begun by the duel between Rua and Demak inside the Monkey geoglyph. Rua is trying to hold himself up after receiving the direct hit from Magician's Ape. His current LP is 3200 while Demak still maintains full 400 LP. Rua is panting and looking nervous. It's now the end of Demak's turn, and he calls for Rua's turn. At the same time, Ushio and Yusei are watching over Rua's duel nearby and looking very concerned about him. Ushio doesn't think that Rua can withstand the damage. He asks Yusei what they should do to help him.

Seeing Rua standing still, Demak begins to ask what's wrong with him and why Rua didn't draw a card. Anyway, he gives Rua some choices of surrendering or having painless death. Rua tells Demak to stop joking him. He has already made a promise to protect Ruca no matter what happens.

3rd turn - Rua

Deformer Magnen-I
Monster Card

Rua then draws a card and gets Deformer Magnen-I. He tries to think about the game plan carefully. Although he can summon a monster, Magician's Ape has a monster effect to take control his monster. Even if it is the case, Rua decides to summon [Deformer Magnen-I - 1/100/100: This card gains the following effects depending on its battle mode. Attack Mode: Once per turn, if you control 2 other face-up Attack Position monster besides this card, this card can gain ATK equal to the combined ATK of these monsters until the End Phase of this turn. Defense Mode: As long as this card is on your side of the field, monsters on your side of the field cannot attack] onto the field in defense position. Setting up a face-down card, Rua ends his turn.

Demak can see that Rua is now at the edge of a rope now as there is nothing else he can do. Rua doesn't argue but thinks that he has to defeat Demak for Ruca no matter what. At this moment, Ruca is wandering the the spirit world with Kuribon. She is aware of Rua dueling Demak now and is afraid that Rua will be in danger if she won't rescue Ancient Fairy Dragon quickly and return to the original world.

Earlier, Ancient Fairy Dragon mentioned to her that its servant named Regulus would come for her soon (episode 37). Ruca was told to combine her power with Regulus in order to release Ancient Fairy Dragon. She doubts whether Ancient Fairy Dragon is the one who called her here. There is no way that she can defeat an Earthbound God without Ancient Fairy Dragon.

After Ruca leaves the forest, there is a town. She tells Kuribon to go inside and take a look. Walking into the town, Ruca doesn't see anybody. Besides, there are many needles placed around the buildings without meaning. Ruca then sees some spirit kids hiding themselves in streets. They are looking very scared and watching over her steps. When Ruca begins to ask what they know, the kids cry and quickly run away. She asks them to stop and follows them; however, they all disappear in the streets.

Ruca doesn't understand what's going them. Seeing a little girl in front of her, she quickly goes after and asks her not to run away. The little girl doesn't listen and runs away from her again. Ruca begins to pant as looks exhausted. She now decides to take a rest on a coach in a garden and doesn't have any idea why people have to run away from her. When Ruca looks forward, there are many residents watching over her and quickly hiding themselves into the buildings.

Kuribon seems to sense something, so it guides Ruca to look at a downstairs. Ruca follows Kuribon and sees a pink ball jumping up from the stairs to her. It makes her confused. On the other side, Ruca notices leaves rising up from the ground to a tree. She doubts whether things in this world generally move in the opposite direction. Another weird thing is about the needles that seem to be everywhere in this town.

Suddenly, strong wind blows. Some kids appear and tell their friends that something is coming to capture the spirits. They should hurry to run away. Ruca looks confused and doesn't understand what the kids mean as they all disappear to hide themselves. She can be shortly clear after seeing dark fog moving from a street toward her. It's a sign of danger, so Ruca tells Kuribon to run away quickly.

An army of monkeys appear from the dark fog. They smell monster spirits in the town and try to search for them. Ruca is hiding herself in a street and looking confused by who the army is. Her deck then glows as if it tries to talk to her. Ruca takes her deck out and feels that the spirits of her cards (Sunlight Unicorn, Sunny Pixie, and Kuribon) are getting scared. She tries to comfort them not to be afraid.

The monkey army finally finds Ruca and her spirits. The spirits of Sunlight Unicorn, Sunny Pixie, and Kuribon quickly run away from the army. A monkey soldier uses its rod looking like needle to seal the 3 spirits of Ruca into stone tablets. It's too late for Ruca to stop it or even to protect her monsters. The monkey soldiers ask how the spirits now feel to be a minus. Ruca looks confused and has no idea what to do.

Note1: The rod that the monkey soldier uses has the same look as many needles placed around the town. "Needle" is a correct term to call these things. This will be explained later by the characters in this episode.

Note2: To explain what it means by being turned into a minus, a monster spirit is sealed into a stone tablet by minus curse casted by a cursed needle. This cursed needle is placed around the town to change everything to move into the opposite way. Similarly, it turns a monster spirit with positive level to a minus level. A stone table sealing a monster displays a level of a monster in the opposite way. Normally, a star level is aligned on the right side of a card. The star is now moved to the left side of the card as shown on a stone tablet. This is the true meaning what a monkey solder means by how a monster spirit is turned into a minus. It means a negative level. All dark synchro monsters all have their negative stars on the right side of the card.

The monkey army has just noticed Ruca and begins to chase after her. Ruca runs around the town and ends up in a street. Before and behind here are the monkey soldiers. Ruca then runs into a nearby small street and finds a dead end. There is nowhere else for her to escape. At that time, a kid hiding underground opens a ground door and guides Ruca to follow him down there.

4th turn - Demak

The duel is continued by a draw of Demak. Calling for his turn, he activates the monster effect of Magician's Ape, "Cursed Needle!". He discards Fighter's Ape on his hand as a cost and takes control of Rua's monster, Deformer Magnen-I. Ushio can see how bad it is as Rua's monster is taken again. Yusei doesn't think so as he is able to read Rua's plan.

Rua yells and looks happy to see that Demak has already fallen into his trap. According to the defense-effect monster of Deformer Magnen-I, all monsters on the field can't attack. Thus, Magician's Ape on Demak's field can't attack, either. Ushio looks glad that Rua can at least make it work. Demak sees that Deformer Magnen-I seems to be a trouble, so he decides to get rid of it.

Demak decides to release Deformer Magnen-I to advance summon [Fighter's Ape - 5/1900/1200: This card is also treated as a Warrior-type. If this card destroys an opponent's monster as a result of battle, its attack power is increased by 400 points. If this card does not battle or if it fails to destroy a monster as a result of battle, this card's attack power reverts to its original value] onto the field in attack position. Ushio looks surprised by seeing a high-level monster with 1900 ATK.

Demak declares the attack of Fighter's Ape toward Rua directly. Ushio yells to stop as he is worried about Rua to get hurt again. Rua quickly defends himself by opening his face-down trap card [Remake Puzzle - Trap: During your opponent's Battle Phase, you can activate this card by destroying 1 monster with "Deformer" in its name on the field. End the Battle Phase and Special Summon 1 monster with "Deformer" in its name from your Cemetery that has a level lower than the monster destroyed and sent to the Cemetery].

Fighter's Ape
Monster Card
Remake Puzzle
Trap Card

This trap can destroy 1 Deformer monster on the field, which is Deformer Magnen-U currently on Demak's field, to end the battle phase immediately. Thus, the strike of Fighter's Ape is stopped. Also, the trap card allows Rua to special summon a monster with a level lower than Deformer Magnen-U (LV3) from his cemetery. Thus, Rua calls Deformer Magnen-U (LV1), which has recently been released by Demak and sent to his cemetery, from the graveyard onto the field in defense position.

Demak can see that Rua is able to save himself this time but doubts for how long Rua can keep this up. He then ends his turn at this point. Rua is thinking about Ruca as he would like to tell her that he will try his best. On the other side, Mikage and Aki are stopping and watching over the monkey geoglyph's reflection in the night sky. Aki understands that a duel with the Dark Signer has already begun, but there hasn't been any response from her dragon's birthmark yet. Meanwhile, Jack is wondering about the same thing. His dragon's birthmark isn't reacting. This makes him doubt whether the person fighting the Dark Signer now isn't a Dark Signer. Both Aki and Jack haven't been aware yet that Rua is the one dueling in place of Ruca.

The monkey army follows Ruca into the street but doesn't see her at the dead end. When the soldiers all leave, Ruca appears from the hidden hideout with a boy who saved her. She thanks him for his help. The little boy has a magician's hat and cloth. He also holds a rod, looking like a little spellcaster. The boy understands that Ruca should come from another world. He calls her "Miss" and comments that Ruca is a little kid who wanders alone in the spirit world and has no idea what's going to happen. She should be lucky that he was around for her.

Ruca doesn't like the way the boy talks to her, saying that it isn't what a kid like him should speak to someone older. The boy tells her that he isn't a kid but is actually old at an uncle age regardless of his appearance. He introduces himself as [Tranka] and is glad to meet Ruca.

The monkey army is still around the town. Ruca and Tranka are hiding themselves in a house. Ruca asks whether Tranka and his people here are all spellcaster spirits. Tranka explains that all other spirits have already been arrested. Although they could manage to run away, but [Minus Curse] turned people into little kids. Ruca seems to have no idea what the Minus Curse is, so Tranka clarifies that powerful minus energy has turned flow of time into the opposite direction. Ruca still looks confused and demands more explanation.

Tranka tells the story that here should be the world where the spirits have lived in peace. Everyone used its own abilities and worked together for good harmonization. However, the army Ruca has seen before appeared one day in this [Town of Schwank]. Things have been changed since then. Everything in the world has been turned into a minus. The rod a monkey soldier used earlier to capture Ruca's monster spirits is called a [Cursed Needle]. Minus Curse is casted from this Cursed Needle to capture a spirit.

Note: As  reminder, Cursed Needle is a call from Demak when he earlier activated the monster effect of Magician's Ape in the 4th turn. This effect is to take control an opponent's monster. In this spirit world, it is applied to capture monster spirits.

Ruca then changes the topic by asking whether Tranka knows a spirit named Regulus. Tranka is more surprised by how Ruca knows Lord Regulus. Ruca tells him the truth that she has come to this world to save Ancient Fairy Dragon. This makes Tranka realize that Ruca is a Signer. Seeing Tranka's response, Ruca understands that he should know where Regulus is. She asks him to tell her where Regulus is and how she can meet him

Tranka is afraid that it's too dangerous to see Regulus now. Ruca doesn't understand by what Tranka means. Tranka explains that Lord Regulus has recently been acting weird. He has turned to bear his fangs to everyone who got close to him. Tranka thinks that it may be because Regulus' heart is now in confused due to the fact that he couldn't protect Ancient Fairy Dragon.

In any case, Ruca thinks that Ancient Fairy Dragon can't be saved if Regulus is away. She has to save Kuribon and the other spirits as well, so she asks Tranka again to tell her where Regulus is. Tranka complies to say that Regulus is concealing himself in the [Forest of Pojar]. He is afraid to give Ruca more information, but Ruca doesn't care. She asks Tranka to lead her there. Tranka tells her that it's impossible as she will be arrested before she reaches the forest.

Ruca doesn't listen to him at all. She leaves the house quickly and runs out. Tranka has no choice but follows her. Ruca rushes Tranka to move quicker. Tranka tells Ruca to stop bullying a nice old man. She may have forgotten already that Tranka is actually an old spellcaster who has turned into a kid by the Minus Curse. The monkey army finally catches both of them and chases them.

When Ruca and Tranka are about to leave a street, Ruca notices a needle placed at a corner and has an idea as she has already understood how this thing should work. She places many bottles on the ground and moves pointers on the needle to the same direction. Then, the street where the monkey army is running down toward Ruca and Tranka is changed into an upside street. Both appear to be at the top of the street, and the bottles placed on the ground begin to move down toward the monkey army. The pictures display that the bottles are moving up, but the needle actually changes them to move down. The monkey soldiers therefore all flip and roll along the bottles. Tranka looks very amazed. Ruca smiles before telling Tranka to take this chance to move. Tranka agrees and goes after her.

EPISODE SUMMARY - PART 2

Ruca and Tranka finally leave the city to the forest area. Coming this far, Ruca sees that nobody is coming after them. Tranka is very exhausted and collapses onto this knee. He doesn't want to walk any further. Ruca comments that a boy like him had better hang on. Tranka reminds Ruca again that he is originally an old man. Anyway, he insists that he won't lift a finger from here. Ruca feels that she has no other choice, so she offers Tranka to carry him on her back. Tranka feels grateful to Ruca's kindness and steps onto her back.

Ruca understands that the Forest of Pojar is right in front of them. Seeing Ruca carrying him like this, Tranka notes that Ruca seems to be a strong kid. Ruca corrects him that she isn't strong at all. When she was a little kid, she always got sick. Although she says so, Tranka can feel that Ruca has heroic strength. Ruca is afraid that what Tranka can feel doesn't come from her. It should come from the power of the person who has been protecting her for long. Tranka doubts whether Ruca means Ancient Fairy Dragon. Ruca shakes her head and smiles. She tells Tranka that this person always stays much closer to her. The person she is referring to is nobody else but Rua.

5th turn - Rua

Rua calls for his turn, draws a card, and gets Deformer Mobaphon. It's what he has waited for. Rua summons [Deformer Mobaphon - 1/100/100: This card gains one of the following effects according to this card's battle position. Attack Position) You can roll a six-side dice. Draw an equal number of cards from the top of your Deck. If there is any Level 4 or lower "Deformer" monster(s) among them, you can Special Summon 1 of them regardless of Summoning conditions. Shuffle all other cards back into your Deck. You can use this effect only once per turn. Defense Position) You can roll a six-side dice. Draw and look at equal number of cards from top of your Deck and return them to top of your Deck in the same order. You can use this effect only once per turn] onto the field in attack position.

Rua then activates the attack-position effect of Deformer Mobaphon, "Dial On!". The telephone is dialed. Rua explains that he is allowed to draw a particular number of cards based on a dialed number 1 to 6. If there is a Deformer monster with level 4 or less in the drawn cards, he is able to special summon it onto the field without summoning requirement. The other cards must be placed back to his deck.

A dialed number on Deformer Mobaphon ends at 3, so Rua is able to draw 3 cards. Those 3 cards are Junk Box, Night Work of One-Hundred Machines, and Deformer Remocon, a tuner monster. Because [Deformer Remocon 3/300/1200: This card gains the following effects depending on its battle mode. Attack Position) Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 "Deformer" monster from your Graveyard to add 1 "Deformer" monster with the same Level from your Deck to your hand. Defense Position) Once per turn, you can send 1 "Deformer" monster from your hand to the Graveyard to add 1 other "Deformer" monster with the same Level from your Graveyard to your hand] has 3 stars, he is able to special summon it following the attack-position effect of Deformer Mobaphon onto the field in attack position.

Level Mirroring
Spell Card

Demak is amazed by seeing Rua playing a tuner monster. Next, Rua plays spell card [Level Mirroring - Spell: Activate by selecting 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. Until the End Phase of this turn, make the level of 1 monster on your side of the field identical to the selected opponent's monster's level]. It allows his monster to have the same level as a level of the opponent's monster. Rua applies to this effect to have Deformer Magnen-I copy the level of Magician's Ape. Magician's Ape has level 3, so Deformer Magnen-I now has level 3.

Rua declares to tune Deformer Remocon into Deformer Mobaphon and Deformer Magnen-I. "To protect the world peace, dock strength with courage! Synchro Summon! An envoy of love and justice, Power Tool Dragon!", he calls and synchro summons [Power Tool Dragon -  7/2300/2500: Once per turn, you can activate this during your Main Phase. You can randomly add 1 Equipment Magic card from your deck into your hand. In addition, if this card, when equipped with an Equipment Magic card, would be destroyed, you can send 1 Equipment Magic card equipped to this card to the Cemetery instead] onto the field in attack position.

Note: Deformer Remocon (Tuner Monster) has 3 stars while Deformer Mobaphon and Deformer Magnen-I (Non-Tuner Monster) has 1 stars and 3 stars (A level bonus from the effect of Level Mirroring) respectively. Their stars are added up to 7 (3+1+3), the star level of Power Tool Dragon (Synchro Monster) exactly.

Ushio is glad to see that Rua can finally summon a synchro monster. Yusei smiles. It's clear to him that Rua is dueling carefully by looking at his opponent's field (That's why he can gain advantage on the level 3 of Magician's Ape). This makes Yusei understand that Rua has grown up. Demak laughs as he sees Power Tool Dragon just a toy dragon. It deserves to be a monster for an imitation Signer like Rua.

Break Draw
Spell Card

Rua tells Demak to stop making a fool of him. He activates the monster effect of Power Tool Dragon to add randomly an equipment spell from his deck onto his hand. This effect can be used only once per turn. The card he randomly gets in this turn is [Break Draw - Equipment Spell: When the equipped monster destroys an opposing monster by battle, you can draw 1 card from your deck. After you use this effect 3 times, destroy this card], so he equips it with Power Tool Dragon right away. Break Draw allows him to draw a card when the equipped monster can destroy an opposing monster in battle. This card must be destroyed after the effect is used for 3 times.

Rua declares the counterattack of Power Tool Dragon, "Crafty Break!", to destroy Magician's Ape. This strike reduces Demak's LP to 2500 (4000+800-2300). Because Power Tool Dragon is able to destroy a monster, Break Draw equipped with it allows Rua to draw 1 card. Rua asks how Demak feels now. He also warns Demak to stop pegging him merely because he isn't a Signer. Rua boosts that he has the strongest dragon named Power Tool Dragon by his side.

At the spirit world, Ruca is carrying Tranka on her back and moving toward the forest of Pojar. She asks Tranka whether he knows where the captured spirits are taken to. Tranka believes that after all of them are turned into a minus, they should be taken to the castle of the Demonic Monkey King, Zeman. Ruca doubts whether Zeman is the leader. Tranka thinks so, but nobody knows where Zeman comes from or what his true goal is. Ruca begins to be worried about the Demonic Monkey King, Zeman.

At the mountain where Ancient Fairy Dragon is sealed, a cursed needle is placed on the ground. The Demonic Monkey King, Zeman staying at his castle casts the power from the cursed needle to turn the sealed power of Ancient Fairy Dragon into minus and make the power come for him. However, the lightning destroys the needle, and the Demonic Monkey King, Zeman fails to change the power of Ancient Fairy Dragon into minus.

The Demonic Monkey King, Zeman looks very mad. In order to turn Ancient Fairy Dragon completely into minus, he is aware that Regulus' presence may be necessary. On a side of the castle, there are many stone tablets sealing the monster spirits inside. They are all taken to this castle. The monster spirits are crying, and one of them is Kuribon.

At the original world, the duel between Demak and Rua is still in the middle of the game. Demak begins to laugh, and Rua asks whether there is something wrong. Demak notes that this is good. The opening act to the battle leaded by destiny should be this fun; otherwise, it wouldn't be respectful to the gods. Rua asks what Demak means by that. He is actually serious to fight by attaching his life into it. Demak explains that this duel will be offered to their gods.

6th turn - Demak

Demak draws to run his turn. He then summons a dark tuner [DT - Dark Ape ~ Dark Tuner - Dark Ape - 2/0/0: If this card is used in a Synchro Summon and sent to the Cemetery, draw 1 card from your deck] onto the field in attack position. Seeing a dark tuner monster, Yusei quickly tells Rua to be careful about it.

Next, Demak plays spell card [Dark Wave - Spell: Change the level of 1 monster on your side of the field equal to that level's amount x (-1.)] from his hand. This card can change the level of a monster into a minus number. Demak selects to apply this effect to Fighter's Ape. Fighter's Ape has level 5. With the effect of Dark Wave, its level is turned into -5 (5*-1).

Note: This presents the same effect as the cursed needle that turns a monster spirit into a minus in the spirit world.

DT - Dark Ape
Dark Tuner Monster Card
Dark Wave
Spell Card

The Demonic Monkey King, Zeman
Dark Synchro Monster Card

Demak declares to turn Dark Ape into Fighter's Ape. "All born from darkness, be the ruler who shall lead everything into the negative world! Dark Synchro! Appear, The Demonic Monkey King Zeman!", he calls and dark synchro summons [The Demonic Monkey King Zeman ~ Enmaou Zeman - -7/2500/1800: In order to Special Summon this card, subtract the level of a Tuner with "Dark Tuner" in its name from the level of 1 other monster on your side of the field and the value must equal the level of this card. If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate Magic or Trap cards until the end of the Damage Step. You can send 1 Monster from your side of the field or your hand to the Graveyard to negate the attack of 1 of your opponent's monsters] onto the field in attack position.

Note: A Dark Synchro Summon is a new combination between a Dark Tuner and non-Tuner monster. In order to perform a Dark Synchro Summon, the levels of the Dark Tuner and non-Tuner monsters must be subtracted to be the exact level of the desired Dark Synchro monster (no more, no less). Once that is satisfied, the two monsters are sent to the Cemetery, and the Dark Synchro monster can be summoned from the Extra Deck. In this case, DT - Dark Ape (Dark Tuner Monster) has 2 stars Fighter's Ape (Non-Tuner Monster) has -5 stars. Their stars result into minus 7 (-5-2), the star's minus level of The Demonic Monkey King Zeman (Dark Synchro Monster) exactly. As a note, Dark Tuner monster must be subtracted from a non-Tuner monster. Don't get confused by this case. It shouldn't be called subtraction but 2 negative numbers are added up together.

Demak explains the monster effect of The Demonic Monkey King Zeman that when this monster attacks, Rua won't be able to activate any spell or trap card until the end of the damage step. Rua looks a bit surprised by such a powerful effect of the dark synchro monster. He anyway tries to hold himself up and says that he isn't afraid of it at all as long as he has Power Tool Dragon with him.

As the game runs, Rua now has 3200LP while Demak has 2500LP. Ushio agrees with Rua's spirit because his LP is clearly higher than Demak (Thus, Rua shouldn't be scared of him). Demak activates the remaining effect of DT - Dark Ape at this moment. When it is used as a material monster for a synchro summon, he is able to draw a card.

Looking at the card, Demak smiles and activates it immediately. It is field spell, [Closer Forest - Field Spell: All monsters gain 100 ATK for each Beast-Type monster in the controller's Graveyard]. As Rua gets surprised, Yusei realizes that this is bad. Once a field spell is activated, a condition to call an Earthbound God has been set. The forest full of dead trees appears in the duel field. It looks similar to the forest where Ruca and Tranka are currently wandering in the spirit world.

Ruca understands that this is the Forest of Pojar. Tranka sees that fog is getting thicker. Ruca sees the cursed needles everywhere in the forest. The needles impact leaves on the ground flying up to a tree. It makes Ruca understand that everything here is moving reversely/negatively due to the curse of minus. Tranka tells Ruca to be careful. As he said earlier, Regulus is now losing its self control.

Ruca doesn't seem to listen of Tranka's warning. She yells out loud to call Regulus out and says that she has something to talk to him. Tranka quickly stops her and asks whether she knows what will happen if they get attacked. Ruca looks very calm. She smiles and tells Tranka not to be worried. She believes that Regulus should understand once they talk.

Ruca keeps on calling Regulus to show up, telling him that they are not his enemy. Suddenly, something jumps off a bush onto a rock. Regulus appears to be an armored lion with a unicorn. There is also a ring of a cursed needle locked into one of his legs. Tranka is scared of seeing Regulus looking very angry. Ruca now looks surprised after seeing Regulus by the first time.
