In the private room, Mikage is peeling an apple for Jack laying himself on the bed. Jack is annoyed and tells Mikage to stop doing things for him. Thus, Mikage gets up, bows to Jack, and leaves the room. When Jack is alone, he tries to grasp a duel disk placed on a nearby bed table.
Meanwhile, Carly is walking as a nurse in the hospital, looking for Jack's room. She by accident sees Jack walking out alone from his room and looks very excited. Jack doesn't seem to care about her, and Carly seems to be too excited to say something to him. He finally passes her and is about to walk to another hallway. There appears Ushio looking evilly and walking toward Jack.
Seeing Ushio, Jack remembers that he is a security. He sees a spider's birthmark glowing on Ushio's right arm, which is the same vision he saw in his final duel with Yusei (episode 26), becoming very surprised. Ushio stops in front of Jack, and Jack asks what this all means and why Ushio has the spider birthmark. Carly remembers that it's the same glowing birthmark on Dick's arm when she observed him dueling Yusei earlier (episode 28).

Ushio stands by his duel disk as a challenge and doesn't answer any question. Jack is still confused and asks whether Ushio is also a Signer. Ushio introduces himself that he is a Dark Signer who has transcended over 5,000-year time from the underworld to come for Jack and to take the light from him. As Jack is still surprised by a Dark Signer, Carly tries to stop him from getting into this. She says that Yusei has once dueled a guy with the same spider birthmark. Jack seems surprised by this news before demanding Carly for the result. Carly replies that Yusei won the duel, but she isn't sure how to explain the other story. Her words finally make Jack decide to get this game on.
Jack doesn't know who Carly is but he expects that she is able to duel. Carly looks uncertain and replies that she can. Jack then gives her his duel disk, turns her around, and asks her to be his hand since his right arm is now injured and he can't draw a card. Carly doubts whether Jack is serious about it. Jack says that if Yusei could win, there shouldn't be any question. He intends to crush Ushio down and demands him for any reason. As Ushio is stepping forward, Jack rushes Carly to help him put on his duel disk. Thus, Carly sets the duel disk into Jack's left arm. Both Jack and Carly then declare the duel at the same time. Carly is afraid that she had already said it despite the fact that she is helping Jack dueling not dueling by herself.
Once the duel starts, an invisible boundary expands in circle and surrounds the duel field. Gust of wind is created, causing actual damage to the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, the dragon's birthmark on Jack's injured right arm is glowing. Jack is surprised by what's going on. Carly explains that the situation is the same as the duel that Yusei battled the man with the spider's birthmark.

1st Turn - Dark Ushio
 |
Warm Worm
Monster Card |
Ushio calls for his first turn. He draws a card and summons [Warm Worm - 3/600/1400: When this card is destroyed by way of battle and sent to the Cemetery, send 3 cards from the top of your opponent's deck to the Cemetery] onto the field in defense position. The monster apparently doesn't represent his security position as he was, so his deck seems to be altered completely by Dark Signers. His turn is ended here as he doesn't do anything else. Carly becomes excited as she has come this far with Jack. There is no other scoop better than this one that she's dueling with Jack. She imagines that Jack is carrying her in such a sweet picture.
2nd Turn - Jack
Carly calls for her turn excited, but Jack interrupts that it's actually his turn. She then apologizes him as drawing a card for him. Jack declares to special summon [Vice Dragon - 5/2000/2400: If there is a monster on your opponent's side of the field, and you do not have a monster on your side of the field, this card can be Special Summoned from your hand. This card's original attack and defense power, when Special Summoned via this effect, is halved] onto the field. Carly looks at the card on her hands before setting it into the duel disk following Jack's call.
By the monster effect of Vice Dragon, it can be special summoned from hands onto the field when there is a monster on the opponent's field and Jack has no monster on the field. Anyway, its ATK is halved when it is special summoned by this effect. Thus, Vice Dragon's ATK decreases to 1000 (2000/2).
Releasing Vice Dragon, Jack advance summons [Strong Wind Dragon - 6/2400/1000: If you successfully Advance Summon this card by releasing a Dragon-type monster, this card's attack power increases by half of the original attack power of the released monster. This card cannot be destroyed in battle with a monster that has the same attack power. When this card attacks a monster in defense mode, and if your attack power is greater than their defense power, inflict Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the difference] onto the field in attack position. This is considered a normal/tribute in this turn as the summon of Vice Dragon is considered a special summon.

Vice Dragon
Monster Card |
Strong Wind Dragon
Monster Card
|
Jack activates the monster effect of Strong Wind Dragon. The attack power of this monster can increase by a half of the original ATK of the leased Dragon-Type monster. Carly is trying to count for the result of this play, and Jack gives her an answer that it's 1000 ATK power up. Vice Dragon used in the advance summon has 2000 ATK, so 1000 (2000/2) ATK is added to the attack power of Strong Wind Dragon. Strong Wind Dragon's ATK becomes 3400 (2400+1000).
Jack declares the attack of Strong Wind Dragon, "Strong Hurricane!", toward Warm Worm. The attack destroys Warm Worm and also causes actual damage to the surroundings. Jack doubts and asks Carly what this is about. Carly reminds what she told him that this isn't a normal duel. She isn't sure either, but it seems to be a real life-or-death duel. This is why she tried to stop Jack from this duel earlier. Jack understands that this means there is physical impact.
After Warm Worm is destroyed, Ushio's LP decreases to 2000 (4000+1400-3400). Carly doesn't understand why Ushio's LP decreases despite the fact that Warm Worm was in defense position. Jack explains that Strong Wind Dragon has a trample effect to inflict damage equal to the difference to the opponent if its ATK is higher than DEF of the defense monster.
Carly is very impressed by the deck of the former king. Jack looks mad after hearing to be called as the former king. He knows that Yusei is the currently new king and seems irritated to be called like that. Carly is afraid to give any excuse for her words that made Jack mad.
Then, Ushio activates the monster effect of Warm Worm. When it's destroyed in battle and sent to the graveyard, the opponent has to discard 3 cards on the top of the deck to the cemetery. Carly acts for Jack's hand, discarding the 3 cards from the deck to the graveyard. Jack looks serious as trying to analyze what Ushio is aiming to. Ushio meanwhile is chuckling with an evil face. Carly shows the cards on hand to Jack. Jack looks at them, declares to set up a face-down card, and ends his turn. Carly then sets up the card following Jack's call.
3rd Turn - Dark Ushio
 |
Shield Worm
Monster Card |
The turn is back to Ushio. Drawing a card, he summons [Shield Worm - 4/0/2000: When this card is successfully Summoned or Special Summoned, send 1 card from the top of your opponent's deck to the Cemetery. Battle Damage to the controller received by this card conducting battle becomes 0] onto the field in defense position. According to its monster effect, when it is summoned successfully, the opponent has to discard 1 card from the top of his deck to the cemetery. Carly is surprised by that she has to discard a card again. The card she discards this time is Dark Repairer.
Ushio is chuckling evilly while Jack is looking serious and calm (There should be something in Ushio's play as he is only playing defense mode). Ushio sets up a face-down card and ends his turn without doing anything else.
4th Turn - Jack
The turn quickly moves to Jack. Carly calls for her turn before realizing that it isn't her. Jack calls for his turn after Carly draws a card. Carly shows Jack the cards on hand, and Jack spots one spell card, Trust Mind. He reads its effect and mentions that Strong Wind Dragon needs to be released for this spell card to be activated.
Carly concludes quickly that Strong Wind Dragon should attack Shield Worm as Jack may want to release it to activate Trust Mind. She declares the attack of Strong Wind Dragon toward Shield Worm. Jack yells and calls her a fool as it's too late to stop her call. Carly looks afraid because she hasn't expected it to be a wrong play. Strong Wind Dragon successfully destroys Shield Worm but its trample effect doesn't work at this point. Ushio explains the monster effect of Shield Worm that any battle damage received is reduced to 0, so he doesn't lose any LP.
 |
Regret Reborn
Trap Card |
At this moment, Ushio opens his face-down trap card [Regret Reborn - Trap: You can Special Summon 1 of your monsters destroyed during battle this turn on your side of the field in defense mode]. This trap allows Ushio to special summon Shield Worm destroyed in battle to the field in defense position. Because Shield Worm is special summoned successfully onto the field, Jack has to discard 1 card into the cemetery. Carly apologizes Jack for what she overdid. Jack doesn't look at her at all and tries to analyze Ushio's goal. He finally figures out what it is.
Carly discards a card, Trap Eater, from the top of the deck to the cemetery. In the second main phase, Jack declares to summon [Double Protector - 4/700/1600: When this card is
destroyed in battle when it is in defense mode and sent to the Graveyard, you can half the ATK of 1
monster that your opponent controls until the End Phase] onto the field in defense position and ends the turn. Carly then sets the card up following his call.
5th Turn - Dark Ushio
The turn is back with Ushio. He draws a card and activates a spell card [Worm Byte - Spell: You can activate this card if a monster with "Worm" in its name is on your side of the field. Special Summon 2 "Worm Tokens" (Insect, Earth, 1 Star, ATK/DEF 0) on your side of the field. During the turn you use this effect, you cannot Summon or Special Summon a Level 3 or Level 4 monster] from his hand. This card can be activated only if there is a Worm monster, which is Shield Worm in this card, on the field. It allows him to special summon 2 Worm Tokens with 0 ATK on the field in attack position.
Releasing 2 Worm Tokens, Ushio advance summons a dark-tuner monster [Dark Tuner - Chaosrogue ~ DT - Chaosrogue - 8/0/0: When you use this card is used as material for a Synchro Summoning, send 5 cards from the top of your opponent's deck to the Cemetery] onto the field in attack position.

Worm Byte
Spell Card |
Dark Tuner - Chaosrogue
Dark Tuner Monster Card
|
Jack is surprised by seeing a dark-tuner monster. Carly is afraid that this may be a trouble like last time. Jack asks what Carly means by that. Carly hasn't finished her explanation yet, and Ushio declares a dark tuning by tuning Dark Tuner - Chaosrogue with level 8 into Shield Worm with level 4. Jack is stunned by the dark tuning and what's happening in front of him.
Ushio says the similar words that Dick talked to Yusei that when darkness overlaps darkness, the door of the underworld is opened to the world without light. He declares a dark synchro summon, calling [Pitch-Black Zumwalt ~ Shikkoku No Zumwalt - -4/2000/1000: In order to Special Summon this card, subtract the level of a Tuner with "Dark Tuner" in its name from the level of 1 other monster on your side of the field and the value must equal the level of this card. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. If this card attacks an opponent's monster with an attack power higher than this card's own, subtract this card's original attack power from the opponent's monster's attack power, and send 1 card from the top of your opponent's deck to the Cemetery equal to each increment of 100 of that difference. Then, make this card's attack power identical to an opponent's monster's attack power until the end of the Battle Phase] onto the field in attack position.
Note: A Dark Synchro Summon is a new combination between a Dark Tuner and non-Tuner monster. In order to perform a Dark Synchro Summon, the levels of the Dark Tuner and non-Tuner monsters must be subtracted to be the exact level of the desired Dark Synchro monster (no more, no less). Once that is satisfied, the two monsters are sent to the Cemetery, and the Dark Synchro monster can be summoned from the Extra Deck. In this case, DT - Chaosrogue (Dark Tuner Monster) has 8 stars while Shield Worm (Non-Tuner Monster) has 4 stars. Their stars are subtracted to minus 4 (4-8), the star's minus level of Pitch-Black Zumwalt (Dark Synchron Monster) exactly. As a note, Dark Tuner monster must be subtracted from a non-Tuner monster. If Dark Tuner monster has higher level, the result of the subtraction is always a negative level.
As Jack is getting surprised, Ushio says that the light has already turned dark. A dark synchro can summon a dark synchro monster whose level is equal to the level of a dark tuner monster subtracted from the level of a non-tuner monster. Carly tells Jack that the guy who dueled Yusei also fought by the similarly unusual synchro summon.
Ushio activates the monster effect of Dark Tuner - Chaosrogue in the cemetery. When this monster is used as a material monster in a synchro summon, the opponent has to discard 5 cards on the top of the deck to the cemetery. Carly yells while thinking that it's too much. As she is discarding the cards, Ushio declares the attack of Pitch-Dark Zumwalt toward Strong Wind Dragon.
Carly doesn't understand the meaning of this strike at all. Strong Wind Dragon (ATK 3400) appears to have higher attack power than Pitch-Dark Zumwalt (ATK 2000). Anyway, Jack understands well what Ushio is aiming to. By the monster effect of Pitch-Dark Zumwalt, if it attacks an opponent's monster with an attack power higher than this card, this card's original attack power is subtracted from the opponent's monster's attack power and the opponent has to send 1 card from the top of the deck to the Cemetery equal to each increment of 100 of that difference.
Strong Wind Dragon has 3400 ATK while Pitch-Dark Zumwalt has 2000 ATK. Their difference is 1400 (3400-2000). This means Jack has to discard 14 cards (1400/100) from the deck to the cemetery. Jack understands Ushio's strategy that it's deck destruction. Carly is afraid that there are only 9 cards left in the deck.

In addition to the monster effect of Pitch-Dark Zumwalt, its ATK can be the same as Strong Wind Dragon's until the end of the battle phase. Thus, its ATK becomes 2000. Ushio tells Jack that his goal is to take away the light along with his deck. He declares the attack of Pitch-Dark Zumwalt, "Dark Dragdown", toward Strong Wind Dragon. Jack thinks that it should be a tie.
As two monsters are crushing each other, strong wind is blowing and causing actual damage around the place. Carly quickly steps before Jack and spreads her arms out to protect him from the impact. She screams loudly as Jack is stunned. She tells him that she is fine before collapsing. Jack grasps her by his left arm in time.
At the same time, Jack tells Ushio to attack as he wants because Strong Wind Dragon has a monster effect that it can't be destroyed in battle by the monster with the same ATK. Ushio explains that his Pitch-Dark Zumwalt can't be destroyed in battle, either. Thus, both monsters remain on the field. At the end of the battle phase, Pitch-Dark Zumwalt's monster effect is over, and the attack power of Strong Wind Dragon goes back to 3400 ATK. Ushio's turn then ends here.
Carly apologizes Jack again for going out of line. Jack notes that this wouldn't be fun at all without any entertainment. He asks her name, and she tells her name to him. Jack has already recognized her and tells her to go for the last draw.

6th Turn - Jack
Jack and Carly declare the turn together before Carly draws a card. Jack then activates the spell card [Trust Mind - Spell: Release 1 monster on your side of the field to add 1 Tuner Monster with a level equal to half the level of that monster from your Cemetery into your hand], and Carly sets it up following the call. According to its effect, Jack has to release a monster to add 1 tuner monster with level equal to a half of the level of the released monster from the cemetery on hand. Strong Wind Dragon with level 6 is released in exchange of Dark Resonator with level 3 (6/2) from the graveyard on hand.
Jack summons [Dark Resonator - 3/1300/300: Once per turn, this
card cannot be destroyed in battle] onto the field in attack position. He then tunes Dark Resonator into Double Protector, synchro summoning [Explode Wing Dragon - 7/2400/1600: If this card attacks an opponent's monster with an attack power lower than this card's own, destroy that monster without applying Damage Calculations. Inflict damage equal to the attack power of the monster destroyed via this effect to your opponent's Life Points] onto the field in attack position.
Note: A Synchro Summon is a new combination between a Tuner and non-Tuner monster. In order to perform a Synchro Summon, the levels of the Tuner and non-Tuner monsters must add up to be the exact level of the desired Synchro monster (no more, no less). Once that is satisfied, the two monsters are sent to the Cemetery, and the Synchro monster can be summoned from the Extra Deck. In this case, Dark Resonator (Tuner Monster) has 3 stars while Double Protector (Non-Tuner Monster) has 4 stars. Their stars are added up to 7 (3+4), the star level of Explode Wing Dragon (Synchron Monster) exactly.

Trust Mind
Spell Card |
Explode Wing Dragon
Synchro Monster Card
|
Jack explains the monster effect of Explode Wing Dragon that when it battles a monster with lower attack power, it can destroy that monster without damage calculation and inflict damage equal to the destroyed monster to the opponent. Carly is impressed by Jack's duel skill. When Jack tried to activate Trust Mind in the 4th turn, he had known already that the opponent was trying to destroy the deck (He just waits for his desired tuner monster to be in the cemetery so that he can add it to his hand by the effect of Trust Mind). Carly thinks that Jack really deserves to be the king.
Jack declares the final attack of Explode Wing Dragon, "King Storm", to destroy Pitch-Dark Zumwalt. There appears actual explosion in the hospital. The invisible boundary vanish, and a lot of damage appears. Ushio collapses, and his LP decreases to 0 (2000-2000) exactly by the monster effect of Explode Wing Dragon.
Duel End
The spider's birthmark on Ushio's arm disappears along with the spider manipulating him. Ushio gains consciousness shortly and doubts where he is. He then passes out as his consciousness is gone. Carly thinks that it's the same as the guy who dueled Yusei. The opponents didn't seem to remember anything as if someone was controlling them.
Jack is about to collapse, but Carly holds him in time. Jack asks Carly to take him out. Carly has no choice but follows his request. She puts Jack onto a stretcher and pushes it pass many nurses in the hospital and journalists waiting outside. Nobody is able to catch them at all. The journalists are waiting for some news as they earlier heard and saw the explosion in a flash of light coming from the hospital. While taking Jack off the hospital without anybody aware of them, Carly is concerned by what she should do as things have turned out like this.
On the other side, Jaeger is taking Yusei to meet Godwin on a bridge in construction. It's still in the night time but almost the morning. Godwin walks into Yusei and tells him that he is going to tell him the truth. Yusei doubts what the truth Godwin is talking about. Godwin points his finger to another direction of the unfinished bridge. Yusei looks at it and sees another side of the bridge in construction linking Satellite and Neo Domino City. He seems to wonder what all of these mean.

To be continued...
