EPISODE SUMMARY - PART 1

Previously on Yu Gi Oh 5D'S, Bommer's attack after the end of the duel is repeated. Yusei stops Bommer and tells him that he can't forgive Godwin either, but that if Bommer attacks Godwin like this, he will be no better then Godwin. Bommer screams realizing that Yusei is right, and the gang looks on in shock. Above, Godwin watches and drops the chariot pile to the floor. Godwin pulls up several screens to make an announcement to the crowd. He tells everyone not to be worried. Because he has the responsibility of the Director of Public Security Maintenance bureau, he will protect everybody. Of course, while he does this, his metal hand is hidden behind his back.

Jack is watching Godwin as he sits on the couch. Godwin promises that he will protect the citizen of Neo Domino even if it means his life, and is smirking as he says this. The crowd goes wild as Divine is watching from the side. He notes that Godwin is smooth and crafty in how he calmed the situation. Bommer is taken into custody by the security forces. Bommer tells Yusei before he goes that he must carry out his mission. Yusei nods in agreement.

Scene shifts to a room with a lot of books. Here [Kodo Kinomiya], a man with green hair and glasses is typing at a computer while reading a book. On screen we see an image of Aki Izayoi. Jaeger comes in and informs Kodo that he's coming off standby, Kodo asks if he's finally on duty -almost sarcastically. He picks up a deck of cards and explains that all the info on Aki's past 16 years has been compiled into his 40 cards. Jaeger says he wouldn't expect less from "The Profiler".

Kodo then tells Jaeger that he'll expose what they desire. When he succeeds, he wants five times the pay. Meanwhile back at the arena, Godwin is pulling on his glove to cover his metal hand. He asks Jack if he's surprised, and tells Jack he lost his arm in an accident. The scene shifts to a hallway where Aki is waiting. She's holding her mask, and is asked by Divine if she's afraid. She tells him that she's going to hurt someone again. Divine puts a hand on her shoulder and tells her not to be afraid, that she is the future of psychic duelists. He reminds her that he's told her she can part with the mask once she realizes her pride and mission. Divine takes the mask from her, to Aki's surprise, and tells her to proudly show them her beautiful face and let them know of her existence.

Scene shifts to a round ball screen with an image of Aki vs Kodo. This is the long awaited second match of the semi finals. When the trap doors on the stage open Kodo is announced as "the Duel Enterpriser, Kodo Kinomiya", on the other side is Aki Izayoi. People start to note she's the witch, and that her first duel has left a big impression on the crowd. Divine again is watching from the back as the duel starts.

In the crowd Yanagi, Ruca, Rua, and Tempei are watching from the stands. Himuro has vanished. Rua wonders if Kodo is scared and Tempei replies that he would have to be since he's facing the Black Rose witch, and that you're in big trouble if you make her mad. Yanagi says he'd like to be friends with her because Aki's powers are something great. Ruca looks worried.

Yusei meantime is fixing his d-wheel. Himuro shows up to ask how it's holding up, Yusei tells him it's fine. Himuro then notices Aki on the screen and asks Yusei what he thinks of the match up. Yusei says that this duel will tell if she's strong or not. Back to the duel with Aki and Kodo, both activate their duel disks. The duel then begins.

1st Turn - Aki

Violet Witch
Monster Card

Aki goes first and summons [Violet witch - 4/1100/1200: When this card is sent from the field to the Cemetery, add 1 Plant-type monster with a defense power of 1500 or less from your deck into your hand] onto the field in attack position, and she also activates the field magic card [Black Garden - Field Spell: When a monster is Normal or Special Summoned, except by the effect of "Black Garden", halve that monster's ATK and Special Summon 1 "Rose Token (Plant-Type/DARK/2/800 ATK/800 DEF) to that monster controller's opponent's field in Attack Position. A "Rose Token" Special Summoned by this effect cannot be destroyed in battle. (Damage Calculation is applied normally). You can destroy this face-up card and all face-up Plant-Type monster on the field to Select and Special Summon 1 Monster in your Graveyard with equal to the combined total attack power of the destroyed monsters].

Vines spring up all over the field. Kodo finds this amusing and notes that all Aki does is seclude her self in her own little world. Aki is watching him carefully as is Godwin and Jaeger. She doesn't react to his comment and instead places one cared face down and ends her turn.

2nd Turn - Kodo

Turn to Kodo. Draw. He tells Aki he knows why she uses her Black Garden. She wants to make friends with others, but those of her friends and family took the attitude of his face down card. He ends his turn here. The announcer says Kodo is unbelievable he only put one card down. Kodo tells Aki that his face down card represents all the people she met up till now. No one would ever want to be friends with a witch. It's because of her hard gaze and unwavering eyes that people are afraid of her. Above the duel, Godwin mentions to Jack as an aside that Kodo's way of dueling does exist and explains that Kodo is called a Profiler. Jaeger comes in and adds that Kodo extensively studies his opponents profile before his match to compose his deck. Jack seems a bit suspicious about this.

3rd Turn - Aki

Turn back to Aki. She draws and battles. She has her Violet Witch attack Kodo directly. Kodo's life points go down to 2900 (4000-1100). The gang in the crowd is shocked, as the smoke clears, Aki's attack did damage on Kodo physically. Kodo says that once again Aki hurts others through dueling and calls her a "Psychic duelist Aki Izayoi!". She reacts to this remark.

Back by Himuro and Yusei, Yusei stops working to glance up when he hears Kodo's comment thinking "Psychic Duelist?".

Back at the duel Kodo recounts that three years ago on May 15th, Aki hurt a classmate with her Violet Witch during dueling practice. A flash back occurs showing a young Aki, with the Violet witch and flames around her. The opponent is thrown into a wall. Kodo says that it was the first instance she used her powers at Duel Academia. After that she was feared by everyone and that she drifted farther and farther away from them. Just like his card with it's back turned! Aki wonders how he knows about all of this.

Kodo says that her powers are ones that shouldn't be, and that her powers need to be punished. He then activates the trap card he had face down [Crime and Punishment - Trap: You can activate this card when your receive damage via a direct attack. Destroy 1 of your opponent's monsters. During the end of the Battle Phase, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand].

Note: It's funny that they're using a famous novel's name for this card.

This trap card can be activated when the player receives damage from a direct attack. It then destroys one of the opponent's monsters. Thus, Kodo destroys Aki's Violet Witch. However, Aki uses the monster effect of Violet Witch at this moment. When Violet Witch is sent from field to the graveyard, she can add a plant-type monster with defense power of 1500 or less from her deck to her hand. The card she chooses is Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis. Kodo says that she's chosen yet another card that is significant to her in the past 16 years. He then uses the remaining effect of Crime and punishment. At the end of a battle phase the player can summon a level 4 or lower monster from his or her hand.

Kodo summons [Hate Agent - ?/0/0: Once per your opponent's turn's Battle Phase, the player can regain Life Points equal to the Battle Damage they received by way of 1 battle] in defense mode. Hate Agent has 0 atk and def. The Black Garden's vines ensnare Hate Agent as part of it's effect. Once it is summoned, the field spell, Black Garden, halves the attack power of a monster that's summoned. Kodo says that it is a shame because Hate Agent has 0 in both defense and Attack, so her magic has no use. Aki doesn't seem to waver at all.

Crime and Punishment
Trap Card
Hate Agent
Monster Card

According the effect of Black Garden, Aki can special summon one rose token to her side of the field as Hate Agents is special summoned. Rose Token has 800 ATK. The Token special summoned through this means can not be destroyed by battle nor attack. Kodo fixes his glasses and casually says that he'll follow in suit, and Hate Agent's monster effect activates. Once per Battle Phase on an opponent's turn, the player can regain life points equal to the battle damage they received by way of one battle. Thus, Kodo's LP turns back to 4000 (2900+1100: Kodo didn't have any monster when he was attacked, so the damage points are the ATK of Violet Witch).

Rua is surprised that Kodo's Life points went back up. Yanagi says that Kodo is a shrewd one. Rua asks Ruca if she's feeling alright again. She tells him that she's feeling a bit itchy, holding her right arm.

Back on the field in Aki's second main phase, she summons the [Phoenixician Seed - 2/800/0: By sending this card face-up on your side of the field to the Cemetery, Special Summon 1 "Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis" from your hand] from her hand and it appears on the field. Then Black Garden's effect activates, and once again a monster is trapped in it's vines. Black Garden now has the summoned monsters attack power and then she special summons a rose token to Kodo's side of the field.

Aki then activates the permanent trap [Rose Flame - Permanent Trap: When a Plant-type monster is Summoned, Special Summoned, or Reverse Summoned on your opponent's side of the field, inflict 500 points of damage to the opposing player]. By its effect, when a plant type monster is summoned on the opponent's field, it inflicts 500 point of damage to the opponent. Kodo is hit by a flaming blast of fire, and goes down to 3500 Life Points (4000-500). Kodo then asks Aki if they are re-enacting an incident from when she was five. Again, Aki seems to react. Divine doesn't look happy from where he is watching.

Phoenixcian Seed
Monster Card
Rose Flame
Trap Card

Kodo says it was the same day that Aki won an actual duel. There is a flashback of a man with a beard hitting wall and fire all around him. He has an academia duel disk on his arm, and a young Aki is standing before him with her disk, stunned and scared. There's also a woman there too, her mother, watching shocked and scared of her little girl.

Kodo goes on talking, snapping Aki back to the present. He says that the thrill of winning her first time had awaked the powers that were dormant in her subconscious. Aki then says that her powers do more then cause damage to what is around her. We see a flash back to school again, and two blocks from the building come down almost hitting a girl who was dueling her. The kids look over at a teenage Aki who looks upset. She explains that her powers do damage to people's hearts as well, and that the powers keep increasing, which apparently scares her. Aki looks at her hand generating this scary power before ending her turn. Kodo claims she's just a monster who brings destruction to the world. Monsters, he contends, belong back in their monster dens. This world is for humans. Aki has her eyes closed and is in deep thought.

EPISODE SUMMARY - PART 2

4th Turn - Kodo

Mind Monster
Spell Card

It's now Kodo's turn. Draw. He draws and activates the magic card, [Mind Monster - SPell: Declare 1 Monster. If that Monster is in your opponent's Extra Deck, the opposing player receives damage equal to half its attack power], from his hand. This card's effect lets him declare an opponents monster. If the opposing players has the declared monster, they receive damage equal to half that monsters attack power. Kodo declares Black Rose Dragon, and the card appears from Aki's duel disk. The Magic card then morphs into Black Rose Dragon. Since Black Rose Dragon's attack is 2400, Aki will be inflicted by half of that damage, at 1200 attack power (2400/2). Aki's Life points drop to 2800 (4000-1200).

The crowd is shocked that Kodo planted an attack on the witch, some add that it serves her right. Kodo continues to barrage Aki with words, saying that it's too bad, if he had powers like her she would have really been hurt, and he looks forward to the next turn. He then switches the rose token on his side of the field to defense mode and ends his turn.

5th Turn - Aki

Turn to Aki again. She draws and gets Curse of Rose trap card, thinking that even if the wounds on ones body heal, the wounds on their mind never fade away. Another flash back occurs and you see a city where an explosion takes a part of a building off. Aki is in her witch robe and is facing a duelist, who clearly has been knocked off his feet, and his friend, who is trying to help him up. Aki thinks that she changes pain into power, knowing that pain turns it into power. She recalls the person that taught her this was Divine, he reached out to her.

"I am Divine from the Arcadia movement. While it's in no comparison to you I have powers similar to your own", Divine introduced himself and talked to Aki.

Kodo snaps her back again when he asks her what's wrong, and to come on. He inquires whether the Arcadia Movement has their hopes on her powers. Aki looks shocked and Divine looks upset. Above, Jaeger says to Godwin that Kodo finally brought up the name of the [Arcadia Movement]. The Arcadia Movement is a utopia for psychic duelist. They are according to Jaeger, fragile people called to be a monster that have been organizing action and rallies in secret. Jack is watching them talk and looks rather perturbed by this.

Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis
Monster Card

Below Aki tells Kodo that she's come here for those who believe in her, and that she has a power people need. Determined again she removes Phoenixician Seeds from her disk and activates monster effect by sending it to the graveyard. By sending the card face up on the players side of the field to the graveyard, she can special summons [Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis - 8/220/0: If this card attacks, this card is destroyed after Damage Calculation has ended. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Cemetery, inflict 800 points of damage to the opposing player. During the End Phase of your turn, if this card is in your Cemetery, you can Special Summon this card in defense mode] from her hand onto the field in attack position.

The Black Garden again halves the monster on the field's attack. Cluster is halved to 1100 ATK (2200/2) and special summons a rose token on Kodo's side of the field. Because of this Rose Flame trap activates again, knocking Kodo's Life points to 3000 (3500-500). Aki calls battle and has Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis attacked the Rose Token (800 ATK) on Kodo's side. Kodo is injured now and the Cluster wakes up. It attacks the rose token in attack mode, bringing 2700 (3000+800-1100) Life points. Aki continues explains that when Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis conducts Battle, it is destroyed. In addition, When this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard it deals 800 points of damage to the opposing player.

Kodo is shocked and covers his head as fire reigns down upon him, he realizes the point of the suicide attack, bring Kodo down to 1900 (2700-800) and he falls over in pain. Because of his Hate Agent though Kodo recovers life points equal to the Battle Damage, bringing his back to 2200 (1900+300).

Note: Battle damage from the attack of Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis toward Rose Token is actually 300 (1100-800). The additional damage from any card isn't considered battle damage but effect damage.

Kodo says his body is being torn apart, and his vision is starting to blurr and fade. He can't seem to focus. Aki honestly plans, he believes, to whittle away his life. He starts muttering that if his life points go down to 0 then "payment" will be the least of his worries. This is not worth his life, Kodo concludes. Aki places one card face down and ends her turn.

By the special effect of Phoenixician Cluster Amaryllis, during the end phase, Aki can special summon it from her graveyard onto the field in defense mode. Along with this, another rose token is summoned to Kodo's side of the field following the effect of Black Garden, and once more because of her Rose flame trap, Kodo is hit once more. He goes down to 1700 life points (2200-500), and nearly falls, Kodo calls Aki a damned Monster.

6th Turn - Kodo

Kodo's turn. He draws and releases all 3 of his rose tokens to special summon [Mad Profiler - 8/2600: By releasing 3 monsters on your side of the field, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. By sending 1 card in your hand to the Cemetery, remove 1 card on the field with the same type (Monster, Magic, Trap) as that card from the game] from his hand. This can has special effect to be special summoned from the players hand by releasing three monsters on his field.

Black Garden once more halves the monster's attack, Mad Profiler is down to 1300 (2600/2), and a rose token is special summoned to Aki's side of the field. Kodo thinks that this isn't a job anymore. He doesn't need the money, he's going to win then get out of there as soon as possible. Kodo draws a card from his hand and uses Mad Profiler's monster effect. By sending a card, to the graveyard, he can remove a card on the field with the same type as the card he sent to the graveyard.

Kodo sends a magic card, Reload, so then Black Garden is removed from play. In the stands, Rua says that Kodo must have send a magic card to the graveyard. Tempei points out that now without Black Garden, monsters' attack power won't be halved anymore. Mad Profiler's ATK goes up back to 2600 and Kodo says he's not used Mad profiler's effect yet. By sending a monster card, Mind on Air, to the graveyard, he can now remove Phoexinican Cluster Amaryllis from the game.

Kodo adds that Aki now can't activate the monster effect the monster gets from being destroyed in battle. Aki's eyes don't waver at all. Kodo tells the Mad Profiles to attack Aki's rose token. Aki goes down to 100 Life points (2800+800-2600). The crowd goes wild, cheering for Kodo to attack the monster more. Kodo asks Aki what she thinks of what the crowd is cheering. He tells her to stop tarnishing dueling and to go back to her den. Above, Jaeger says it's an excellent turn of events with Kodo's sense of crisis he will awaken Aki's powers as a signer. Kodo activates an equip magic from his hand, [Destruction Insurance - Equipment Spell: When the equipped monster is destroyed, inflict damage on the opposing player equal to half that monster's attack power], and equips it with Mad Profiler.

Mad Profiler
Monster Card
Destruction Insurance
Spell Card

At the garage, Himuro says that the equip magic card is pretty fishy. When the equipped monster is destroyed, it deals half of it's attack power to the opposing player. And with a half of the Mad Profilers attack power 2600, if Aki takes 1300 points of damage (2600/2), her life points drop to 0 (1000-1300). Kodo then activates another equip magic, [Light Law Protection - Equipment Spell: If the equipped monster's attack power is modified by an opponent's Magic, Trap, or Monster Effect, destroy that Magic, Trap, or Monster card belonging to your opponent], with Mad Profiler.

Himuro describes the card's effect that when the effect of an opponent's monster changes the attack power of the equipped monster, that equip magic destroys that card. Himuro says this is obviously in response to the monster effect. Yusei realized what card Himuro means, Black Rose Dragon, which has the special effect to reduce a monster's ATK to 0. In other words, Kodo has planned to use Light Law Protection's effect to destroy Black Rose Dragon.

7th Turn - Aki

Turn back to Aki. She draws and summons a tuner monster [Night-Rose Knight - 3/1000] onto the field in attack position. She tells Kodo that she's turning her level 3 tuner monster to level 2 Rose Tokens. Aki Synchro summons the Black Rose Dragon. When she does Yusei's arm mark reacts. The group in the crowd gasps that there it is [Black Rose Dragon - 7/2400/1800: When this card is Synchro Summoned successfully, you can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn, by removing from play 1 Plant-Type monster in your Graveyard, the ATK of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls becomes 0 until the End Phase of this turn].

Light Law Protection
Spell Card
Night-Rose Knight
Tuner Monster Card

Note: A Synchro Summon is a new combination between a Tuner and non-Tuner monster. In order to perform a Synchro Summon, the levels of the Tuner and non-Tuner monsters must add up to be the exact level of the desired Synchro monster (no more, no less). Once that is satisfied, the two monsters are sent to the Cemetery, and the Synchro monster can be summoned from the Extra Deck. In this case, Night-Rose Knight (Tuner Monster) has 3 stars while each Rose Token (Non-Tuner Monster) has 2 stars. Their stars are added up to 7 (3+2+2), the star level of Black Rose Dragon (Synchron Monster) exactly.

Kodo says it's Aki's trump card and to bring it on. He'll turn the tables on her. He cries out that she's a monster abandoned by her parents. Aki's hair decoration comes off of her hair. She's glowing with a red aura and says that Kodo will not get away with tramping all over the feelings of others. She intends to engrave this pain upon his form. Kodo thinks information is what you use to protect yourself, with this many equip magic cards and Hate Agent's effect, he surmised that he can't loose. He believes he can send her psychic powers back to her with his cards.

Aki activates the special effect of Black Rose Dragon Monster. By removing one plant type monster, Phoenixican Seed, in the players graveyard from play, she can reduce the attack power of a monster to 0. Aki calls this the rose restriction. She attacks Kodo's Mad Profiler with it and brings the monster to 0. That was what he was waiting for. His Light Law Protection effect activates when the equipped monster attack power is modified by an opponent's effects, it destroys that card.

Curse of Rose
Trap Card

Kodo blows up Black Rose Dragon. Aki's mark glows, the gang is surprised and Yusei watches to see what will happen. Jack is surprised too, Aki is a Signer. In the lab Akutsu's machines are going nuts and he's very excited by this development. Above, Jaeger asks if Kodo has fulfilled his duty. Aki has fire around her and looks insanely upset. She activates the trap card, [Curse of Rose - Trap: You can activate this card if the attack power of a monster on your opponent's side of the field is modified. Inflict damage to the opposing player equal to the difference between that monster's original attack power and the modified amount].

By its effect, if the attack power of a monster on the opponents field is modified, it inflicts damage to the opposing player equal to the difference in it's original attack and modified amount. Kodo is shocked and scared. Aki is really upset and tells the card to sick him. The Rose pedals that were falling become a huge whirl wind that tears up chunks of the field and pushes the crowd with it's winds. When the pedals clear Kodo is face down in a deep impression, defeated with 0 Life points (1700-2600).

Note: Black Rose Dragon's special effect reduces Mad Profiler's ATK from 2600 to 0, so the modified ATK is 2600. It's the damage that Kodo has to receive.

Duel End

The announcer calls for an emergency squad to get out there. Aki is advanced to the finals and the mark fades on her arm. Divine says that she did well, but the finals will truly test her powers. Her duel will be against Yusei and that she has to keep her guard up. In the garage, Himuro asks Yusei what he thinks her cards are made of, Yusei says that there's rejection and anger, but there is still something lying dormant.

To be continued...
